hi folks - thanks so much for all the great info here!

    looking to lease a loaner.

how does one calculate residuals on loaners/CPO? looking to lease a 2017 x3 loaner for the significant MSRP savings with minimal miles under 10k miles/3 years.

is it under 5k miles residual is same as standard for the month, 64% of MSRP?
is it over 5k miles but less than 10k miles you multiple total miles times 25 cents / mile and deduct that from standard 64% residual of MSRP?

    for example, vehicle has 9k miles and MSRP is $54,687.50 so let's say standard residual (64%) is $35,000. so one takes $35k - (.25x9000) = residual for that vehicle = (35000-2250) = $32,750 = 59.88% residual

    OR

does one only take the mileage AFTER 5k miles into account (4k miles of the 9k total miles) when multiplying it by the 25 cents/mile for the deduction from the standard 64% residual of MSRP?

and to confirm MF stays as base (3.36%/0.0014 this month) for leases of loaners/CPO, correct?

    thanks a ton!

All miles above 500 reduce the residual by $0.25/mile.
In addition, if unit is over 5000 miles, residual is reduced by 4% on top of mileage reduction.

Looks like the party might be over for leasing loaners. They will have to be massively discounted to compete with a new unit. (which is possible)

i agree at proposed MF it's a joke combined with the loss of standard residuals. thankfully the residuals are wonderful for x3s but with the large 6% hit (car has 9k miles) it does suffer.

if i can get them to base MF and a nice chunk off MSRP with ski zermatt 1k off incentive and 1k market allowance and 1.5k corporate discount (i'll assume i can only stack $2.5k of these discounts) i think it may be worth it.

here are the numbers the way i have worked them. i'd like to get to under 400 a month on a "clean" deal.

    2017 x3 xdrive 2.8i
    msrp: $54,520, many packages
    terms: 3 years / 10k miles
    mileage: 9,273
    taxes: MD, 6%
    MF: .00071 (.0014 base after 7 MSDs & corp .0002 discount)
    downpayment: $0
    title, tags, registration: $331
    dealer processing fee: $299
    current deduction: $9,532
    (17.48% off MSRP)
    deduction requested: $13,084.80, $3,552 more
(24% off MSRP, including corp discount & incentive ($2,500))
    current cap cost: $44,988
    cap cost requested:$40,616
    9273 miles - 500 = 8773 miles inception mileage
    8773 * .25 = $2,193.25 inception mileage adjustment
    residual = 64% (standard) - 6% = 58% = $31,621.60
    residual actual: $31,621.60 - $2,193.25 = $29,428.35 (53.98%)
    monthly payment = $382

    what do you think, folks?

At CAP of $44,988, I get $485/mo., with the adjusted residual
$360/mo. with your proposed CAP cost.
Where is the sales tax in that calculation?
MD taxes the full selling price.

6%, yes correct. ok, as long as i'm not too far off. it is just a very good estimate as i don't have all fees.

but what of the deal, what do you think? worthwhile?

found out that one cannot use those incentives or corp program towards loaners/demos. the days of an awesome demo/loaner lease price are gone as aggressive 25+% off MSRP is going to be required to get back down to those levels again. oh well, i tried! thanks folks.

Thank you very much, guys, for all these very useful info here. I'm leasing a 2017 X3 Demo with 8k miles on it already. MSRP: 49545, sale price:40800. I sent email asking for purchase quote, not mentioning will lease instead yet. Can any one please help to calculate the monthly payment? I got about $450/month using lease app with 0 down, 7MSD, all fees rolled over into the monthly payment. Not sure how the dealer will calculate the 8k miles cost. I didn't include it into the payment but I know I should. I'm in Sub of Chicago try to get 36/10k. Does Sub of Chicago has same lease tax rule applied to City of Chicago? Should I buy instead?
Thank you so much for your input. :-)

    thanks for the quick respond
    MSRP 51500
    1000 fac disc
    2350 corp disc
    sale price 48150

not sure what is included in 2000 sign in ,but apparently it is tax and fees and registration which was less than 2000 but we tried to put little more than those at sign in to reduce lil bit of monthly payment
    any help would be appreciated
    thanks

.00140 (.00091 after MSD) and 64%, but the residual will be adjusted for the miles.

We think BMW has implemented a new method for adjusting the residual on demos - with 8000 miles, it looks like 6% off the residual plus .25 per mile for all miles over 500. That will spike your payment quite a bit.

Using the 58% residual and the .00091 MF, I get $398/mo before tax. Deducting the $1875 for the miles, the pre-tax payment jumps to $449/mo

You might be better off buying - or leasing a car with 0 miles on it.

You might try to get more off the sticker price.

I get $576/mo plus tax with those prices.

Our suggestion is to limit the up front cash to just the first payment and DMV costs - add everything else into the lease payment.

    Hello,

    Here's what I was offered for a 2017 BMW X3 sDrive28i with Nav & Driver's Assistance Pkg.

    MSRP: $43,145
    Selling Price: $40,246
    RV: 64% (10k miles)
Monthly Payment: $476.48 ($893 due at signing)

    This is in Austin, TX.

Apparently this was a "Special Edition X3's" that the dealer purchased from BMW NA, and BMW has full tax credit & additional cash incentives. This is pretty significant since I live in Texas where we have to pay sales tax on the full sale price of the car even on a lease.

    Is this a good deal?

    Thanks.

How much is due at signing? $1000?

$3550 added on to the CAP.
    $925 acquisition
    $500 DMV
    $??? dealer fee
    $??? tax

If that all adds up, it looks good, though I'm showing $24/mo. higher than your quote.

Almost 7% off, so that's good, too.

Not quite 7% off sticker ... we suggest you target 7% (or better, if you're feeling lucky).

Ask the dealer what the adjusted cap cost is - including the taxes and fees.

Your CAP cost has to be about $49.600 for that payment
    $45000 selling price
    $1800 maintenance
    $925 acquisition fee
    $1800 tax

Looks to be right on it.

You have a nice big discount, but $1800 for maintenance? Doesn't the car come with basic scheduled maintenance for 36K for free? Seems like a lot to pay for an upgrade.

Other than that, not too bad.

One of the advantages of trading out of a lease early, is to avoid lease end charges. But, you aren't getting that. I'd wait three months.

    Hello there,
So are there any dealer incentives going on right now for the 2017 X3?
And I was told from my dealer that the MF is .00140, and the Res is 63%, is that what it is?

    I was quoted an X3 MSRP$45,625
    SP $43,185
    $489 mo with 12K
Alpine white, Leather, Cold Weather & Premium Package.

I don't recall what the DMV fee is,
and I wld be a BMW loyalty purchaser. What other fees should I be looking for?
    Thank you for your help.

    .00140 and 63% is correct for 36/12.

No lease incentives that I see; no information about loyalty incentives

    What state is this?

You will find a $925 acquisition fee.

I think you can do better on the price - we suggest you target 7% off MSRP.

    Hi guys,

I got another quote from a different dealer.

    MSRP: $50,795.00
    Selling Price: $44,995

    Money Factor: .00120
    36 months Lease
    15,000 per year
Full Maintenance included for 36months/45,000 miles

    Full Maint 36mo/15K $1,789

    First Payment: $615.78
    + Security: $0.00
    + Cap Red: $0.00
+ Tax on Cap Red: $0.00
    + DMV Fees: $0.00
    + Tire Fee: $10.00
    + Insp Fee: $10.00
    + Doc Fee: $75.00
    + Other Fees: $0.00
    + Tax on Fees: $6.66
= Cash Due on Lease: $717.44
    - Trade Equity to COD: $0.00
    = Total Cash Due: $717.44
    - Deposit: $0.00
    = Cash on Delivery: $717.44
    Plus DMV Fees

    looks like a good deal?

I still got 3 payments left on my car and he said I gotta pay all the fees for returning the lease.

If I wait till my lease ends, the 2018's will be out. there's probably no discount on the new year models in the first few months?

rep said they're willing to credit me for 1 month of my 3 months payments to sign the deal this month.

    how does that sound?

from the prices I see from different dealers they just tack on the remaining lease on the selling price anyway if they know they need to take your lease car. they still tell me I gotta pay for any damages charge on it. is there really such a thing as taking care of your lease end charges but still selling the new car at a low price?

If you are trading in the same make, then sometimes there are "pull ahead" programs where those charges are covered or lease payments forgiven. But, if it's a different make, there is no free lunch. You are paying for your old lease, one way or the other.

Hey Everyone. I'm looking at a lease on a 2017 X3 XDRIVE35I. The vehicle is slightly used and has ~6800 miles on it. The original MSRP when new for the vehicle was $59,750.00. Currently the sales price they are offering me is $52,598 though I'm going to try and negotiate that a bit harder in person. Based upon that though here is what they came up with on a lease:

36 months, 15,000 miles per year
Cap Cost - $52,508.16 if I pay taxes up front; $53,982.64 if I roll taxes in deal (fees paid up front either way)
    Residual Value - 61% (36,889.75)
    Money Factor - 0.00140
    Acquisition fee - $925
    Dealer Doc Fee - $398
    Registration & Tags - $323.60
    First months Payment - $559

The payment comes out to $559 a month with $3,679 up front of $602 with $2,248 up front.

How does that deal look on the surface? Thanks in advance for the help.

    I get $570/mo, so that's pretty close ($11/mo. off)

I'm surprised at the residual, due to the current mileage. No reduction for mileage?
I wonder what will happen if you show up to sign the paperwork.
Get the feeling it might change, once they run the numbers.

If this is the car you want, you should grab this deal.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you have any expectation for how much it would change by if this was a mistake? Just trying to get a feel for what to expect.

Hi there, anyone has RV and MF numbers for 12K/36 in April?

Also wondering if this is a good deal (quoted in March):

Its a service loaner in state of Ohio with 5600 miles:

    MSRP: 51395
    Selling price: 43000
    RV: 53%
    MF: .0014
    Acquisition fee: 925
    tax: 1538
    documentation and registration: 350
with everything rolled in monthly payment is 619

the residual seems very low to us but the sales manager is not willing to go any lower on monthly payment..

They extended the March program through Sunday, so no new numbers, yet.

Service loaner residual program changed on March 1st, and if the vehicle has over 5000 miles, it's a big deduction from the base residual. You'll need a lot bigger discount. I wouldn't be happy with $619/mo for a service loaner.

Yes, it's $1500, and it comes off of the SP, so net SP is $47,448.

That's an interesting question.. I did some calculation using 63% residual (36 mo 12 K here) and assuming 7% off of MSRP, the monthly payments come up to be around $624/mo. So I guess there really isn't much of a savings here (with their quote of $619/mo) But if we can get another $40 off (comes down to $580/mo.) then that would be more reasonable to us..
