    Hi There,

How much does each msd lower the MF by?
Was just given this quote but it seems they are still inflating the MF because I have a fleet discount so the MF should be starting at .00114 and with no msd I get $408/mo. Is this correct?

Each MSD lowers the MF by .00007; with the fleet discount, the net MF should be .00065.

$363/mo plus tax with the .00065 MF

What state and tax rate is this?

They didn't give me the breakdown.
3000$ is all inclusive of my reg, title plus first month payment.
Is this a good deal?? Can I go for it ??

    Thank You.

Ask them for the breakdown - if they are reluctant to share that information with you, that should tell you something about the dealer.

Good dealers have no problem being transparent with the numbers.

This is in OR, no sales tax :)

They say they are inflating the MF because they offered such a "discount" from the msrp. They seem a bit unwilling to budge from this current quote.

Starting to find more and more dealers who do this - you can have the base MF or a substantial discount from sticker, but not both.

Starting working with other dealers - it only takes one to meet your numbers.

Would it be considered a good deal at about $410 or $415/mo with 4 MSD's so total at signing $2,714?

That is a pretty substantial discount, and a pretty low monthly payment.
To get an accurate calculation, ask them for the adjusted CAP cost.
For instance, no mention of the $925 acquisition fee in that quote.
Our calculations don't mean much, if we don't know what number they are using.

Here is another quote I got for X3 xdrive 28i

    MSRP $50,095
    Cap Cost $44,180
$484/mo + tax with $1500 due at signing
    Residual $32,060
    MF .00174 (can range .00134-.00250)
36 months, 10k miles per year

    How does this sound?

.00134 MF is the base rate. Dealer is marking it up to .00174 (which is the maximum allowed), for extra profit.
Dealer say I do not quality for base rate since the credit score is 712 and BMW requires 725+ for best rate. Is that true?

We show 675 as the minimum score needed for the top rate with BMW.

We show the cutoff at 675+. And, the next bump down is just .00020, not .00040.
But, more goes into the credit tier than just the raw score. It would be unusual for a dealer to lie about your credit, as that would be serious violation.
However, I'd want to see that in writing. ;)

I am reading the BMW web site on the 2017 X3 28i lease offering (see below):

Based on the above offer, what's the assumed selling price? Does it mean that we expect to get at least such a price from a BMW dealer?

Also, looking at the group corporate sales offer for the same model:

It mentioned about $50 dollar offer on the monthly payment. And the details are articulated in the below picture. Do you know how the $50 off on the monthly payment was based on? If I use the $1000 off for the corporate fleet incentive from the selling price, it should not be $50 off for the monthly payment. Does it mean that $50 off is additional discount that you will get with the corporate sales lease offer? I talked to a local BMW dealer but they have no clue :(

  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,648
The top advertisement came out, after BMW added the $1000 Holiday Credit. That's why it differs by $30/mo. from the 2nd advertisement. It assumes a dealer discount of $1356, in addition to the credit.

The corporate deal achieves the $50 discount by providing a .00020 money factor reduction and an additional $1000 credit (though, that deal doesn't show the Holiday credit).

Dealer will share the breakdown when I am signing the finance.

From my understanding 3000$ down includes
    reg,title,tax,acquisition and first month payment.

425/month inclusive of taxes for X3 s drive Msrp 43745

Please let me know if it is a good deal.

    Thank you.

    State? Tax rate?

Getting the breakdown at signing time doesn't really help you understand the numbers.

That's like buying a shirt, but them not telling you the price, until they've run your credit card (okay, that's how my wife does it).

Yeah. That's right. But when I asked for the breakdown they said when I am going to finance they
    will explain.

    State : North Carolina
    City : Charlotte

I guess Reg and Taxes should be around 1100$.

I am not sure what I should do next.

    Thank You.

I agree... call them back and tell them you won't be in to sign anything without having all the numbers in advance. The finance office is not the place to make your decisions.

I agree with the math on that. If you're comfortable with the discount from sticker, no reason not to pull the trigger.

In reality, more like $1350 cap reduction. Is the $42,800 after the cap reduction?

In general, we suggest the only up front monies go to the first payment and DMV costs; everything else should be rolled into the lease payment.

I'm just pennies off from that quote.

Why put down the $1440? That money is at risk if the car is stolen or totaled.

Without it, the payment goes to $593/mo

Thank you for reviewing.. it looks good to me other than what you pointed out of having the down payment. I'm holding out for the X3 28i .. unless this X35i price goes lower. I was told that the $6k off ends today but I'm pretty sure the discount will remain.

    Hello all,

I've been browsing the web for the last couple of days, looking for advice on leasing a 2017 X3 35i which I'm thinking of for my next lease which is coming up soon, and I read some great advice being given on this forum, so I registered hoping I could get some help too.

The car my local BMW dealer here in southern California has found for me is a fully loaded 2017 X3 35i with an MSRP of $63,395. It was one of a few builds out there which has the color combo along with the packages I want. It has M sport, Tech pkg, Driver assist and Driver assist plus, DHP, etc.

I'm just curious if this is a fair deal they are offering me....

    X3 xDr35i
    MSRP $63,395.00
    SELLING PRICE $58,591.30
    RESD 64% $40,572.80
    MONEY FACTOR 0.00133
    MSD’S $2,100.00
    DRIVES $2,000.00
    LICENSE FEE APPROX $481.00
    DOC FEE $80.00
    TIRE FEE $7.00
    PROCESASING FEE $29.00
    MONTHLY $640.32 PLUS TAX

    Thank you for any help

Looks like they are marking up the money factor to .00154, before giving you credit for 3 MSDs.
Base MF is .00134. (markup adds about $20/mo.)
The discount from MSRP is good.

Overall, it looks like a good deal.

If you made 7 MSDs, you could knock another $28/mo. off the monthly ($4900 MSDs)

Thanks kyfdx, I appreciate the help.

The CA stated in an Email earlier today that he can sell me the car $2000 below his cost. Not sure if that means the same thing as the $58,591.30 selling price he Emailed me in the details from the other dealer that has the car or if he means a flat $2000 below MSRP ($63,395 > $61,395) due to them having to ship it across the country for me.

I just Emailed him about it to be sure what the final selling price of the car is to me, and also mentioned the base MF being .00134.

I breathed a sigh of relief when you said it looks like a good deal, because I want to get this over with tomorrow if possible and get the car sooner rather than later.

I Emailed the CA asking if they could do min fees + 3 MSDs at drive off totalling roughly $2600 and they said that they couldn't and that $4100 was the best they could do

I asked the dealer to let me know how much the payments would be if I only paid the minimum drive off fees, which came to around $2000 (includes 1st month) and he said $698 before tax.

I know I can get the monthly payments down by putting down security deposits but since this will be a company car and the payments will be income tax deductible, I just want to know if it's a fair deal they are offering?

Without MSDs your money factor should be .00134 . I've not done the math but it seems they've marked that up and the discount isn't fantastic. Have you shopped around?

Yes I'm not the best with the numbers but I realized that $698 ($750 inc tax) with just the drive off fees (~$2000) is not that great a deal. I have shopped around and different dealers are offering slightly better rates. I have no problems switching to another dealer if I get a better offer.

The thing is I can't put down MSDs right now, so the roughly $2000 drive off fees is all I wish to put down, and am speaking to a couple different dealerships here in southern California. I will just go with whichever gives me the best monthly rate with the DO fees.

I'll also pay attention to the MF, thanks for that.
