Ok I had got that wrong, it was actually $698 including tax with just drive off fees of $2000. Can't put down MSDs now, plus it's a company car income tax deductible so I don't really want to put down 4-5k of my own money as a deposit.

Sorry for the confusion. Is it a good deal with just drive off fees of $2000 (including 1st month) and $698 inc tax? 36 months, 10k miles/year.

    Thanks

Hello--I am looking at leasing an X3--question re MSD's. You advise againast putting money down as it is at risk--are MSD's also at risk if car is totaled or stolen?

    Thanks!

MSD monies are used to reduce the payoff amount in the event the lease is prematurely terminated.

Lessons for my next lease. Get the base MF first, negotiate the selling price of the car down as low as possible,

AFAIK the benefit of MSDs is you get it back at the end of the lease, if the car is totalled or stolen. If you put money down, it's gone forever.

Confirm the adjusted cap cost with the dealer - about $360 difference.

Here is an offer I received:

    36 months / 12k per year

    X3 35i xDrive

    MSRP: $64,045.00
    Selling: $59,562 + $500 (transport)
    Money factor: 00.134
    Redsidual $40,348.35 (62%)
    Payment: $683 + tax
    Total due at signing $2,340.49

Someone mentioned earlier that residual should be 63 or 64%. Is this still the case? Dealer is insisting that its 62%.

Also, just want to give a huge thank you to the mods here for their awesome support.

I agree.. the residual should be 63% for 36/12.
The dealer can't alter that. (and, if you do the math, your residual amount is 63% of MSRP).
    .00134 is the base MF

    I get $682.15+tax.

Hi everyone, I'm close to finalizing the deal on the 2017 X3 lease that I mentioned above, and have one last question. My CA emailed me this screenshot of the lease details today and asked me if it's fine to proceed. Earlier in our Emails he had mentioned that my $2000 drive off included the 1st month payment of $698.50 along with the other fees, but in this screenshot it states that the 2nd month payment is to be paid today, 1/24/17. So the 1st and 2nd month payment are being collected on the same day? Is this right? Shouldn't the 2nd month payment be on 2/24/17 since I'm paying the 1st month in the drive off?

    Thanks

That's not much of a screen shot.
Where is the adjusted CAP cost?
    DMV and fees?
Breakdown of base payment + tax?

I'll guess that the $2000 goes to first payment and that $597 fee (doc/dealer fee?). Leftover is $648.07 as CAP cost reduction. But, also, add $925 acquisition fee to the CAP cost. See why you need to know the adjusted CAP cost?

If my guesses are right, I get $648/mo.+tax.

The 2nd payment date is just wrong. Should be 02/24

Ask for the complete screen shot, showing all the numbers. I don't see any red flags, but I also don't have all of the information.

Remind me what state and tax rate?

Is this "good? This is supposed to reflect corporate pricing through BMW. I noticed they did not reduce the money factor. Seems as though they're only giving me 1500 off of the sticker price and the additional 1500 from corporate pricing.   I did not want to put any money down either. Taxes are 10%.

I agree with the math on the contract but it is a lousy deal, as you've noted.

If you qualify for the fleet discount, the MF should drop .00020 - looks like the dealer marked up the MF before applying the discount.

Be polite and tell them you won't sign a deal with an inflated MF. That is costing you about $15/mo.

And, you should be aiming for 5-7% off sticker, not a lousy $1500. Target $3000-3500 off sticker. Every $1000 will save you $28/mo, before tax.

The dealer said that there is only a 5% margin and with that $1500 they are making only $800 on the deal.

Hi folks, need thoughts on deal proposed to me by local dealer in SW Florida:

    2017 X3 s28 - Mineral White/Black Leather
    Packages:
    1. Xline
    2. Driver Assist
    3. Driver Assist Plus
    4. Premium
    5. Technology

    Options:
    Harmon Kardon Surround System
    Rubber Floor Mats

    MSRP = $52,010

I went in pretty aggressive, dealer countered telling me they would sell car 1% over invoice amount of $48,975 for $49,495 (5% discount).

I leased a 430 convertible in Sept and paid invoice. I asked about loyalty or return customer discounts. No go. I would have to order this car that is why they are marking up 1% since I am not taking inventory off lot.

Next they are telling me on a 36/12 lease, residual is 63% and MF is .00165. I am top tier and told them I had seen it at .00134.

Can anybody verify the MF for Jan and does anybody have any ideas on what Feb looks like? And any comments on the overall deal itself. Appreciate any input. Thanks!

Dealers will say a lot of things.

Go find another dealer and get numbers from them. Get the dealers to compete against each other for your business. Then you'll see how low the prices get.

    2017 X3 s28 - Mineral White/Black Leather
    Packages:
    1. Xline
    2. Driver Assist
    3. Driver Assist Plus
    4. Premium
    5. Technology

    Options:
    Harmon Kardon Surround System
    Rubber Floor Mats

    MSRP = $52,010

Thanks!

MF is .00134 this month; be polite and tell them you won't sign a deal with an inflated MF.

No idea what will happen next month.

Ordered vehicles don't often secure you the type of discount you would get for a car in stock.

5% discount for an ordered unit is decent, but not spectacular. If you can get them to discount it 7%, you'd be better off.

Thanks for the info Michaell. Been shopping all dealers in FL. Looks like the most everybody is going on discount is 6% on ordered vehicle. They did agree to .00134 MF.

Hi there. Greatly appreciate the information on this forum. I just got back from an aggravating session with the dealer. We identified a vehicle we wanted, agreed on an acceptable price, and put down a deposit so they could try to get it from another dealer (in their same ownership group). So this, I guess, is why I didn't get full paperwork on the lease. I had to ask twice for the MF and when I asked to see the fees that were included, the sales consultant came back with them written on a sticky.

I realize this is not how it's supposed to be done and maybe we'll see proper paperwork tomorrow. But meanwhile, my own lease calculations are way off from what they provided, so I wonder if they're bullshitting me on the MF (which they claim is 0.00134, as cited in this forum) or playing some other game. Or maybe my calculations are just wrong, which is why I'm asking here.

    Anyhow:

    X3 xDrive28i
    MSRP $56,470
    Cap cost $52,234
    36 mo / 10K mi
    Residual cost $36,141 (64%)
    Acquisition fee $925
    Other fees $529
    Customer cash $2249
    MA sales tax 6.25%

Plugging these numbers into various online calculators, I come up with payments in the range of $560-575 (why aren't they same?). Dealer's number is $637.83.

    What have I missed?

    Thanks!

Your customer cash doesn't seem to be the sum of any of those numbers.... but, let's just say it covers the first payment and fees, because that seems close.
If that's the case, $566/mo,+tax, or about $601/mo.

I can't tell you why the calculators come up different. They work by asking "questions", then it's up to you to decipher the answers and put the amounts in the right spot. They seldom seem to all work the same way.

My calculation is simple math on a spreadsheet.

If the money factor is marked up the maximum, that would add about $35/mo. to the payment.
So, when you see the paperwork, look for the adjusted or net CAP cost. If it isn't $52,234, than find out why.
If it is, then they are marking up the money factor.

Good morning folks. Can anybody confirm residual percentages. Is it 63% on a 12K lease and 64% on a 10K lease?

Trying to figure out if it is cheaper to buy miles at .20 per vs the higher monthly payment. Do you know if when buying miles, they charge tax?

    Those are the correct residuals.

You can only purchase extra miles if you start at 15K per year. I believe those costs are subject to sales tax.

As noted, buying miles at levels less than 15K/yr can only be done at lease end. And, yes, they will be taxed.

Taking the residual reduction and higher mileage allowance is almost always cheaper, unless you think you'll only go over a little bit.

Hi, thanks for all the great info. Been following for a while passively but it's about time to start thinking about a new lease. Could you please confirm the MF and residuals for 2017 BMW x3 xDrive28i for February? Is it still 0.00134 and 63% for a 36/12 lease? How about xDrive35i?

Also, any incentives for February such as loyalty cash or option allowance, etc?

    Thanks!

Those numbers are correct for either model.

No info on any other incentives.

I'm nearing the end of my 2014 x3 lease and am planning to lease a 2017. I still have 4 months left and have heard about a 3 month pull ahead where the remaining payments are forgiven. Or are they just rolled into the new lease? Also, I see references to 7 MSD. Have these increased? In 2014 they were 5. Thanks!

We have no information on a pull ahead program - if it exists, the remaining payments are waived. Otherwise, the remaining payments are rolled into the new lease.

BMW has always allowed 7 MSDs to be applied to lower the MF.

I get $522/mo before tax with those numbers.

Find out the adjusted cap cost that the dealer is using, if everything is being rolled into the lease.

What state and tax rate is this?

$55,370 is the cap cost if we roll taxes and fees in.

Using the new cap cost, I get $618/mo - a lot closer to your $625/mo quote.

Still about $250 apart in cap cost, however.

Wanted to thank everyone for their input. Here is the summary the deal we got after shopping many of the dealers in Florida:

    Build to Order 2017 X3 s28i with:
    xDrive
    Premium
    Technology
    Driver Assist 1
    Driver Assist 2
    Harmon Kardan Surround

    MSRP = $52,010
    Discount = $3649 or 7%
    Cap Cost = $48,361
    MF .00134

Most dealers were giving 6% off, but 1 gave 7% and my local dealer matched it. The coolest part is we did the deal on a Monday night, order went to factory on Tues and we picked up the car on the following Thursday. I was blown away at how fast we got it :-)

    Thanks again!

Looking to lease build to order X3 2017 s28i 36/10. Went to one of the local dealers in S FL last night. Not happy the way it started. Sales guy was nice, but didn't seem to want to budge as much as I wanted on pricing, based on research from this site.

    Details:

    Veh Price (MSRP): 44845
    Discount (4.4%): 2000 (looking for 6-7%)
    Sell Price: 42845
    Residual (64%): 28700
Dealer Serv: 789 (says not negotiable, that if they lower then need to make up with reduced discount)
    Lic and Reg: 450
    Tag Process Fee: 298
    Tag Agency Fee: 15
    Tire Fee: 5
    Lemon Law: 2
    Battery Fee: 1.50
    Taxes 2686.31 (what's this based on? taxes are 7%, 6 state + 1 county)
    Cash Bal Due: 47091.81

    Due at signing: 2061.86

    Payment: 559.56

He didn't show me MF used, but when I asked him it was not 0.00134, was more like 0.0015, but can't recall
exact figure. Didn't negotiate this down, b/c I was not happy w/ the other numbers yet.

    Questions:
1 - What's the deal w/ dealer fees, should they be removed, or reduced w/o affecting the discount? That is, should I still expect 6-7% and reduced/removed dealer fees?
2 - Are the other fees legitimate?
3 - Can't quite get to the exact same tax number they got. I added the sell price and all fees and then calc tax (7%). What am I missing/adding incorrectly?
4 - Any idea where the 2061 due at signing comes from? 1st mo and all the fees add up to more than this.
