BTW, he's now come back with what he claims is his best deal. Sale price 48545 plus 925 acq fee, correct MF and Residual. Cash of 1546.43 (first payment, title, tag, dealer fee) and monthly base payment of 602.84 36mo/15k. Sounds like a good deal to me. Opinion?

If I add the acq fee to the selling price, I get $578/mo plus tax. $603/mo with tax looks good.

Micheall - Hmm, sent me the BMW screen. TTL Cap of 49470 and has the correct MF (00.146) and residual (61%); shows 603 base with 42 tax for total of 645.

Either something has been added, or the MSRP is incorrect. It's simple math.
    $54045 MSRP
    $49470 CAP
    .00146 MF
    61% residual
    36 months
    $578.76/mo.

.00176 MF would generate $603/mo, with those numbers

Ok I now have a screenshot. It shows MSRP of 52545. So maybe he doesn't have everything in his build even though I sent him the BMW build ID?
Thanks so much for your help!

To be clear, the residual is off of MSRP not CAP correct?

Thank you very much, guys, for all these very useful info here. I'm leasing a 2017 X3 Demo with 8k miles on it already. MSRP: 49545, sale price:40800. I sent email asking for purchase quote, not mentioning will lease instead yet. Can any one please help to calculate the monthly payment? I got about $450/month using lease app with 0 down, 7MSD, all fees rolled over into the monthly payment. Not sure how the dealer will calculate the 8k miles cost. I didn't include it into the payment but I know I should. I'm in Sub of Chicago try to get 36/10k. Does Sub of Chicago has same lease tax rule applied to City of Chicago? Should I buy instead?
Thank you so much for your input. :-)

.00140 (.00091 after MSD) and 64%, but the residual will be adjusted for the miles.

We think BMW has implemented a new method for adjusting the residual on demos - with 8000 miles, it looks like 6% off the residual plus .25 per mile for all miles over 500. That will spike your payment quite a bit.

Using the 58% residual and the .00091 MF, I get $398/mo before tax. Deducting the $1875 for the miles, the pre-tax payment jumps to $449/mo

You might be better off buying - or leasing a car with 0 miles on it.
Nailed down a deal last Friday the last day of March. Same MSRP but with less mileage (2.8k miles). Drive off with $3500 (7 MSD+$398 first month payment+Doc/license fee). Acq fee and mileage deduction rolled into the monthly payment. Sale price shows on the paper work is $40100, the monthly payment I calculated with that sale price is $385(tax include, my tax rate is 7%), no idea how the $398 comes from. Thanks everyone here for a great place with tons of resource.

    Morning,

Wanted to get an opinion on the following deal:

    $49595 MSRP
$46581 CAP (includes destination and given credit for 1500 Fleet)
    .00077 MF (MSDs + Fleet)
    64% residual
    36 months
    9% Tax
MSDs, first month and DMV fees (230 or so) up front.
    $515/mo all in.

I ran numbers through a calculator and everything appears in order. Do you think CAP is decent? I tried to haggle but dealer has been pretty firm. Seems like he has no more room left.

Quick note for those looking to do MSDs, need to act by end of April. Program will be suspended by BMW in May.

    Thanks

So, the acquisition fee is included in the CAP? If so, I get the same numbers.
That's about 5% off MSRP, before deducting the $1500.
That's within $1000 of the best you could hope for, I think. Not too bad, especially with the fleet and MSD discounts.

Good morning...quick question for the experts. I have a $1500 fleet discount through my company. I believe that should be applied after I negotiate the best price I can with the dealer. The dealers want to use that as part of their discounting of the car. My goal was to get 6-7% discount off the MSRP and then apply my fleet discount. Am I being reasonable? Does the fleet discount come out of the dealers pocket or from the manufacturer?

The incentive comes from BMW. But, the rest of the price is a negotiation. Keep working at it, and expand your search to other dealers.

Thank you. I appreciate the info. I have expanded my search to four dealers now. The local guys wouldn't budge and had to walk away from them. The dealer two hours away seems to be a bit more promising and I think we might get it done. The two other dealers within an hour didnt seem all that aggressive in getting new business. The BMW dealers have been some of the toughest to negotiate with.

    Hi,

Can you please conform that .00146 and 64% for 10k/36 lease in California previously posted in this thread is valid for 95051 zip code? I just got a quote from the dealer and they said it's .00186 - I am wondering if they marked it up.

Are numbers the same for both xDrive28i and sDrive28i?

    Thanks a lot

    BMW numbers are national.

Dealer is marking up the MF the max allowed.

Numbers are the same for all X3 models.

Hi a little help from the experts would be appreciated. I searched but couldn't find the answer. I'm currently leasing a 328D and I'm over about 100 miles on my lease with 2 months to go. I would like to upgrade to an X3 but I'm wondering if I should wait until I'm closer to the end of my lease or get on it now. Do prices and lease traditionally get better worse as the year goes by? Thanks in advance

It's hard to predict what will happen to the numbers in the future, but generally the MF and residual are set to hit a certain payment.

As we get closer to the end of the year, it's possible the numbers will favor a lower payment, to help clear out inventory.

    53,470 MSRP
    45,500 Sale price

Only a few thousand miles on the car
    NY Tax 8.625%
$485 a month [includes paying off 3 current car payments of 325 each - 975 total]

    $3,865 Due at signing = ($489), DMV ($200), Documentation ($599), BMW Acquisition ($925), NY tax ($1,653).

    1. I've never paid tax up front - do you advise this
    2. Is this a good deal
    3. Is doc fee or acquisition fee negotiable?

.00146 MF; what lease term and how many miles are you looking for?

    1. We recommend you roll the tax into the payment. If the car is stolen or totaled, you think Gov Cuomo is going to refund you the difference you didn't use?
    2. There is an adjustment to the residual for the miles, but you should offset that with a lower negotiated price. What kind of discount can you get on a new car?
    3. Acquisition fee is set by the bank - not negotiable. Doc fee is, I believe, capped at $75 in the state of NY. Are you getting this car from a dealer in NJ or CT? If so, don't try to negotiate the fee - simply adjust your selling price accordingly.

    Thanks for the reply!

They are telling me the MF is .00146 and Residual is 62.2% [because its a demo w/3k miles]
    It's for 10k/36

Do you think the above payment is good [again keep in mind they are paying off 975 in lease payments] Looking in NJ and CT?

Good deal or should be able to still negotiate down in price?

They are not paying off the $975 - they are rolling it into the new lease.

If I use your MSRP and selling price, I get $458/mo

    $975 / 36 = $27/mo

    $458 + $27 = $485

If you're comfortable with the discount from sticker, all looks good.

Should I be comfortable with that discount? The percentage is good I think but being that it has a few thousand miles should it be steeper in your expert opinion?

$8000 off sticker seems pretty aggressive to me. What kind of discount is the dealer willing to give on a car with zero miles on it?

Hi all, I'm mulling over a deal on a 2017 X3 28SI SDRIVE 36/12 lease and wanted to know how it looks. I'm in Honolulu, Hi and with only one dealer our here we are pretty much screwed trying to negotiate. Buying from a CA dealer and shipping here may be an option but only if it's worth it. The model we want has to be ordered so that has to be taken into consideration. Monthly come out to 582.86. Tax rate here is 4.35%. I'm attaching a screen shot of the numbers provided.

Wow.. a $400 discount from MSRP? I guess on the positive side: You live in Hawaii!! ;)

Seems like that screenshot is missing info...maybe another page?
I see cash of $2950, but an initial payment of $5007, so that's confusing. Maybe $2950 CAP reduction, plus taxes, fees and first payment? Are they asking for $5007 upfront?

I'm assuming the money factor is .00175. The base MF is .00150, so a markup there.

One dealer to choose from. Not a lot you can do, except to consider another make, I guess.

  • That's the only page they provided and had to ask for that twice. The $2950 is taxes, fees, and first payment that's included in the $5007 upfront payment.

They pretty much give you a take it or leave it stance with the Aloha smile. I reached out and they are going to see if they can come down a bit but I'm not holding my breath.

Received a quote today on a 2017 X3 xDrive28i w/premium, cold weather, and driving assist packages. Located in PA. Loaner demo w/~4,600 miles. 3 Small exterior paint scratches/scuffs which they said they would fix.

    36 MONTHS/10K
    MSRP: $47,045
    DEALER DISCOUNT: $5320
    CORPORATE FLEET DISCOUNT: $1500
    DUE AT SIGN:$2500 -- INCLUDING $1,139 FEES(ACQUISITION $925+FIRST PAYMENT+TITLE+DOC FEES+DOWNPAYMENT)
    MF: 0.00170
    L.E.V.%: 61.84%
    MONTH: $445.81

I asked about putting $ on MSD, stated that BMW stopped this last month and will only allow customers to put $ as down payment. I asked about honoring a USAA member Customer Bonus Cash offer of $500, they stated they couldn't stack the USAA offer on top of the Corporate Fleet discount. Is this true? Is this a good deal or should I be pressing for a larger reduction (fees, off MSRP, MF, etc)? Anything else I should ask re: loaner car lease prior to sign? Thanks in advance!

They are marking up the money factor the maximum, before deducting the .00020 for corporate fleet.
.00150 MF is base. Without the markup, your money factor should be .00130, but they've marked it up to .00170.

The information about MSDs is correct. We have no info about USAA.
Your residual has been reduced from 64% to account for the current mileage.
The money factor markup is adding about $31/mo. to your payment.

I would press for the base MF (.00130 with fleet), or another $1000 off the price.
