Looking to lease build to order X3 2017 s28i 36/10. Went to one of the local dealers in S FL last night. Not happy the way it started. Sales guy was nice, but didn't seem to want to budge as much as I wanted on pricing, based on research from this site.

    Details:

    Veh Price (MSRP): 44845
    Discount (4.4%): 2000 (looking for 6-7%)
    Sell Price: 42845
    Residual (64%): 28700
Dealer Serv: 789 (says not negotiable, that if they lower then need to make up with reduced discount)
    Lic and Reg: 450
    Tag Process Fee: 298
    Tag Agency Fee: 15
    Tire Fee: 5
    Lemon Law: 2
    Battery Fee: 1.50
    Taxes 2686.31 (what's this based on? taxes are 7%, 6 state + 1 county)
    Cash Bal Due: 47091.81

    Due at signing: 2061.86

    Payment: 559.56

He didn't show me MF used, but when I asked him it was not 0.00134, was more like 0.0015, but can't recall
exact figure. Didn't negotiate this down, b/c I was not happy w/ the other numbers yet.

    Questions:
1 - What's the deal w/ dealer fees, should they be removed, or reduced w/o affecting the discount? That is, should I still expect 6-7% and reduced/removed dealer fees?
2 - Are the other fees legitimate?
3 - Can't quite get to the exact same tax number they got. I added the sell price and all fees and then calc tax (7%). What am I missing/adding incorrectly?
4 - Any idea where the 2061 due at signing comes from? 1st mo and all the fees add up to more than this.

    1. Welcome to Florida, land of the exorbitant dealer fees. I've had folks report them as high as $999. Ideally, you want to mitigate it with a lower negotiated price (over and above the 7% we suggest for BMW)
    2. All the other fees look to be in line
    3. Ignore the tax number - Florida taxes lease payments monthly.
    4. Ask the dealer for the full breakdown of this number - our recommendation is to pay only the first payment and the non-taxable fees up front; roll everything else into the lease payment

This board has been helpful, so I want to post the deal I just did for a 2017 X3 s28i in SoCal:
    MSRP of $45,295
    Sales Price of $41,300
    36 month / 10K miles
$475 month including tax, but I used 7 MSDs to lower the MF to get to an all in payment of $438 a month
I paid drive off cost only with no cap cost reduction, but I would say that they had a bank fee of $925 and $850 of that showed up on the their computer screen as a cap cost reduction. In hindsight, I'm sure I could've negotiated this fee down. I thought I got a good deal so I just wanted to get it done

    Congrats!

The acquisition fee is mandatory from BMW, but you could have added that into your payment as well.

Looking for lease payment on an xDrive 28 with MSRP of $52,000 for a 36/10k term. I haven't approached a dealer yet; what is your best guess for selling price and OTD costs? I'm in NorCal. Thank you!

    Thank you very much.

That means 63% RV and .00134 MF. 7 MSDs would bring MF to what? I thought 15k would bring residual down. Just little confused. Thanks.

I am looking to lease a BMW X3 in Chicago. The lease offers I am getting seem to be significantly higher than what I see here. The only thing I can think of is taxes?, can anyone share lease offers they got around Chicago? Also, what's the best money factor I could negotiate to right now (mar 2017)?

If you live in the city of Chicago, lease taxes are going to kill you.

The state taxes the sum of the payments and collects the money up front; Chicago then taxes the payment each month, as well.

The total tax hit is something like 17%.

Base MF this month is .00140

Is this lease a good deal?

Building a 2017 X3 28i in NC, returning my 2014 335i and picking up new car in Spartenburg. They say they're giving it to us at invoice, here's the details I have so far.

    X3 28i w/
    MSport
    Premium
    Tech
    Active Driver
    Heated seats
    Apple Play
    Ultracare
    black grill
    Carbon black
    Ivory w/red stitching

    MSRP:$55,813
    Down: $1500
    Terms: 36/15k
    Payment: $686

The MSRP is less than my 335i was but, the payment is the same w/o the wheel care package I had with the 335 which would change the payment this to $732.26 if I got it.  Thoughts on this deal?

This is not a good deal. My current X3 is up and I was just quoted 0 down just drive off, $525 inc tax for a X3 3.5 with a 56K sticker. Dealer is giving 12% off sticker due to a program this month.

Thanks for the response.  Where are you located? What are the lease terms?  I'm assuming it isn't a build.  I think that may be the difference.

.00140 base MF this month. 36/15 residual is 61%

Today they quoted .00140 and 61%, where do you think the increase is?

Maybe that's not the actual adjusted CAP?

Thank you for the insightful information on this board! My lease is ending soon so I'm shopping around. Here is what the dealer is offering me to stay for a 2017 BMW X3. 36/15

I told him no money down but he put it there anyway. Waiting for him to resend with no money down. What do you think so far?

The math is correct for that quote.

You'll have to give them the $1500 for the MSD, but you can roll the tax amount into the lease, which will raise the payment (and, if the payment goes over $500/mo, the MSD will increase to $1650).

The total tax is just an information line.. Those taxes are collected monthly on the payment.

This really is a zero downpayment lease.
The only amounts due upfront are the first payment, DMV fees and $1500 security deposit (refundable).

8% discount from MSRP and base money factor (less the MSD discount). It looks pretty good.

If you want a lower payment, you could make more MSDs and lower the money factor.

Could someone please let me know if the 2017 BMW X3 28i lease is a good deal?

    MSRP 52000
    dealer installed options: 300
Selling Price: 47400 (only 8% off on msrp is this good?)
    7MSDs: $4200
    Residual value: 32757 ( 63% i guess)
    MF: .00111
    capitalized taxes: 1404.72
    Gross capitalized cost: 50278.72
Acquisition fee : $925 (rolled into monthly payment)
    Monthly payment: $578.87
process Document fee: 549 (rolled into monthly payment)
Government fees (I guess Title/license fee): $89 (rolled into monthly payment)

    Lease term: 36 mon/12k
Total lease cost for 36 months: 20839.32
Additionally full protect cost which covers upto $5000 is coming for $900 not added to the above costs. Not sure if its worth it.

They didn't had the color and the options that i liked on their sale lot so they will order a brand new custom order. I wanted to check if this is good deal? I live in Cincinnati, OH (Tax rate 7.25) area and checked with quite a few dealers within 3-5 hours drive. Chicago, Indianapolis. Columbus, Pittsburg area. Everyone is giving a great deal on the loaner cars (saving 2.5 to 3.5k on the overall lease cost), but the brand new ones that they have on their sale lot its only 1k difference. Its coming cheaper only in Chicago area and 1k cheaper is not worth the drive. Pleae let me know if you think its good deal. Dealer is not able to negotiate anymore so not sure if i should take the deal or wait longer to get a better deal. Thanks for your time, appreciate it.

MF is marked up - max MSDs should bring the MF down to .00091.

Politely tell the dealer that you won't sign if the MF is inflated. They know what the base rate is.

8% off sticker is a good price for a new BMW.

The $900 for the lease end protection is a good deal ... for the dealer. Skip it.

Currently in a 2014 BMW X3 lease (lease end Sept 2017). I live in Nassau County, NY

Dealer has reached out to return early ( I thought I'd have months to research next car! :)

I'm willing to hear what they have to say with no pressure to make a deal.   What information should I be armed with to help myself negotiate the best lease deal on a new 2017 X3?

Sorry for the basic, broad question but I am new to leading and am not sure of what pitfalls I need to look out for making this transaction.

I'm not aware of any formal 'pull ahead' program, so be aware that your remaining payments may get added to the new lease. Negotiate 7% off the sticker price, make the dealer give you the adjusted cap cost (selling price + taxes, fees you are not paying up front), and we can run the numbers.

    .00140 and 61% for 36/15

Thank you for the very quick reply! Interesting there may be no formal "pull ahead program". So thanks for the heads up on that.

I'll be in touch once I have an opportunity gather more specifics.

Also, what would I expect residual to be for a 36/10 or even 36/7.5 (not sure if they offer).  I put VERY few mikes on this current lease (~12 K total so far).

Hi, Could you please let me know on how this deal looks?

After further negotiating with the dealer below is the quote that I got.
Earlier, I was getting it for 578.87 per month for a 51,995 msrp car. Car will be ordered after i sign the lease.

    MSRP 52120
    dealer installed options: 300
Selling Price: 45370 (13% off on msrp is this good)
    7MSDs: $3850
    Residual value: 32850
    capitalized taxes: 1404.72
    MF: .00111
Gross capitalized cost: not sure yet
Acquisition fee : $925 (rolled into monthly payment)
    Monthly payment: $514.13
process Document fee: 742.19 (rolled into monthly payment)
Total lease cost (514.13*36=742.19) =19,250 ( I have to pay title and registration fee of $50)

I am just curious if i should wait little longer for the new X3 model to come into market to get a lot better deal on 2017 models. Not sure when the new 2018 model will be in market.

    Thanks.

    Assuming this is for 36/12?
If I add up all of your charges, besides the MSDs, I get $524/mo. Not far off your $514/mo.
The money factor is marked up. With MSDs, the base MF is .00091. That adds about 17/mo. to the payment. If you got them to use the base MF, that would drop the payment below $500/mo, and also drop the MSD amount to $3500 from $3850.

Some sort of typo on this line?:
Total lease cost (514.13*36=742.19) =19,250 ( I have to pay title and registration fee of $50)

Its for 36/12. I talked to the dealer and he is saying that due to extremely heavy discount on MSRP (for Special order car) he is not able to make any changes to the MF. His numbers are final. What you think? Would i be able to get better deal anywhere else?

Total lease cost (514.13*36+742.19) =19,250. This includes tax, fees , documentation and all.

    1. 13% off MSRP is very good - we usually suggest you target 7%
    2. MF is marked up, before the MSD - net MF should be .00091. But, you may not get the large discount from sticker if you insist on the base MF.
    3. Relative to MSRP, the payment looks good
    4. Can't help you with whether you should wait for the 2018's or not.

hi folks - thanks so much for all the great info here!

    looking to lease a loaner.

how does one calculate residuals on loaners/CPO? looking to lease a 2017 x3 loaner for the significant MSRP savings with minimal miles under 10k miles/3 years.

is it under 5k miles residual is same as standard for the month, 64% of MSRP?
is it over 5k miles but less than 10k miles you multiple total miles times 25 cents / mile and deduct that from standard 64% residual of MSRP?

    for example, vehicle has 9k miles and MSRP is $54,687.50 so let's say standard residual (64%) is $35,000. so one takes $35k - (.25x9000) = residual for that vehicle = (35000-2250) = $32,750 = 59.88% residual

    OR

does one only take the mileage AFTER 5k miles into account (4k miles of the 9k total miles) when multiplying it by the 25 cents/mile for the deduction from the standard 64% residual of MSRP?

and to confirm MF stays as base (3.36%/0.0014 this month) for leases of loaners/CPO, correct?

    thanks a ton!
