    .00136 MF and 63% residual.
    $1000 option allowance.

We don't have the 24 month residual, but it's most likely 69%

Does it make sense to buy instead of leasing considering 0.9% APR promotion?

A lot of factors go into the buy/lease decision. A lot of it depends on your mileage needs, and how long you are willing to keep the car.

Not hard to beat the advertised offer. It's the details that separate a good deal from a great deal.

How much is the down payment? With your numbers, I get $487/mo before tax.

We recommend against a down payment; that money would be lost if the car is stolen or totaled.

I currently lease a 2014 X 3 awd. Lease expires in March 2017. At last servicing , got a estimate on a new one. The $ 1000 option credit was disappointing.. Since I know year end Incentives usually are better than that, i figure waiting until they come out and go back in. I felt the Dealer's initial quotes didn't show much love as a returning customer, etc. Does this make sense? I like the vehicle enough to buy it, at lease end for $26k, if the Lease numbers on a new one don't work. How important is it for Dealers to keep BMW customers? thanks.

Returning customers is why a large percentage of BMW transactions are leases.

The dealer can't fix the lease program from BMWFS. If the deals aren't there, they aren't there. They can't lose money on each car, then make it up on volume. ;)

Dealer said this is a "preliminary" quote but the payment will not be more than this, will get an exact breakdown at the time of delivery.

The $3k should at least cover the lease acquisition fee $925, DMV $360, slew of fees about $250, 1st month payment.

the final numbers different from what I posted earlier:

    2017 X3 x28i
xLine, Driver Assistance, Driver Assistance Plus, Navigation.
    36m/12k
    MSRP - $49045
Dealer discounts -$2750, Option credit -$1000, Corp discount -$1000
Lease protection +$1595 ($5k excess wear and tear coverage)
    Gross cap cost - $44295
    Base MF - 0.00137, Residual - 63%
    MF after 7 MSD = 0.00088
Cash down: $6493.00 ($3850 MSD deposit, $508.12 1st month payment, $1595 lease protection, $539 DMV and fees)
Extras: BMW rubber mats complimentary (worth MSRP $300)

    35 monthly payments (incl. tax) - $508

Is this considered a decent deal ?
    Thanks.

I'd skip the lease protection and keep the money in your bank account.

CA, tax calculated at 9%. Also please add the $925 acquisition fee in the calculation.

The lease protection is just for peace of mind. In my current and previous cars (none of them luxury cars) I always had some kind of scratches, dents over a period of 3 years regardless of how careful I have been. Plus if any tires are worn out they will not charge for replacement.

I live in Los Angeles and can't find the car with the options we need so I need to order the car. Never done this before, do I just negotiate the price and payments before putting in the deposit as if the car is already on the lot?

    Negotiate everything before you order.

Otherwise, eight weeks from now, "your" car shows up at the dealership, and what leverage do you have then?

Hi, I'm new to this forum and about to lease my first car (and thus not very confident about this deal!). Following specs on a 2017 BMW X3 xdrive 28i, includes premium package, driver assistance plus, with navigation:
    MSRP: $50,795
    Negotiated cost: $4320 off
    36 months, 12K/year
monthly payment: $446.02 including 6.25% sales tax plus fees
    Total due at delivery: $8000
    State of TX
    Residual value: 63%

Debating whether or not to put down multiple MSDs. But is this a good deal?
thanks in advance for the help!

    Good discount from sticker

What is the breakdown of the $8000 - I'm sure some of it is taxes and fees, but how much is going to cap reduction?

I agree with the math. However, hang on to the $1064 of cap reduction - the payment will go up about $30/mo pre-tax, but that money would be lost if the car is stolen or totaled.

Dealers love to throw a lot of numbers at you, hoping you'll get confused and just sign.

The only numbers that matter are:

    MSRP
    Adjusted cap cost
    Residual
    MF

I don't see the lease term or miles per year in this ... what are they?

MF this month is .00136 - dealer can mark it up by as much as .00040

And, the MSRP isn't listed, either.

Thanks for running these very helpful forums. Could you please help me validate this quote. This is for a 36/12 lease of a 2017 X3 xDrive35i. I asked for the maximum allowed number of MSDs to be applied. The quote results in a $648.46 monthly payment + $5802.66 drive-off. I'm in Northern California.

The math is correct. Only way to improve it is to get a lower selling price.

I'm new to leasing, so still trying to learn/understand everything that goes into the lease and was hoping someone could 'check my logic' on the below:

On the BMW USA website, I see a current offer for a 2017 BMW X3 xDrive28i with a MSRP of $46,145.00 with $3000 down, $1000 option allowance and a residual value of $29,533.00 for 36 months @ 10k miles for $399/month.

If I do my own calculations using these values, I end up with $447.82/month before taxes using a residual of 64% and MF of 0.00136.

The only thing that brings it closer is if I assume a 7% discount off MSRP; which gets me to $353/month before taxes, but I would *assume* that BMW isn't discounting the MSRP more than the $46,145 they listed. Where am I going wrong?

    Thanks!

I think the dealer contribution is unknown. It can be that 7% discount that you are referring to.

Most of these regional or national offers assume some discount from sticker, in addition to the incentives and up front cash.

The ad price assumes a $657 discount from MSRP, in addition to the incentives.

That leaves a lot of room to do better.

    Why are there three prices?
    MSRP
    Sale price
What is the first number? (Price 54,375)
