Can you break down the pricing on that price? Sales price before tax, tags and any other fees? What was the price with the freight included before those fees?

I was just about to say $30.2k OTD pricing on a Touring in Cali is quite a deal. I would aim for $29k* or less for a sale price on the Touring sedan at the end of the month.

I just want to remind anyone looking for feedback to always break down their deal by providing the following info:

    1. MSRP of the car (including destination fee)
    2. Sale price of the car before any incentives (including destination fee)
    3. Cost of dealer add-ons or accessories (if any)
    4. Incentives such as grad, military or flex cash (if any)
    5. Sale price of the car after all incentives
    6. Dealer documentation/processing fees
    7. Any additional fees such are tire fees, etc...
    8. Any additional info

The aim of the game is to be an informed buyer and get the best deal possible.

If you do not have a detailed price breakdown, ask the dealer for it. If they are unable to tell you what their doc fees are for example, move on to the next dealer.

*Supply and demand will affect pricing in your area, so if you are looking to purchase a 2017 model in the color combination of your choice, do not wait too long.

Will be hoping to get the selling price down to 29k by month end. This is the best I've gotten so far.

    Let us breakdown your deal.
    • Sale price: $29,041.57
    • Invoice price: $32,809
    • Amount below invoice without doc fees: $3767.43
    • Amount below invoice with doc fees: $3469.43
It is a very good deal but not a great deal. You could aim for another $500 off at the end of the month. Here are some questions for you:
    1. Is the car in the color combination of your choice?
    2. Does the dealer have flex cash?
    3. Do you qualify for any other incentives?
    4. When are you planning to buy?
    Good luck.

Could you confirm whether this price is for a coupe or sedan? My calculations were based off the invoice price of a sedan. The coupe is a couple of hundred dollars less.

Hi all! So I'm looking to lease the 2017 accord LX or EX without sensing or nav in the socal region. This is the best I've gotten for 36 months/12k so far:

LX- $700 down inc first month, 217 a month inc tax (about 9.25%). Includes oil and filter for 2 years, limited lifetime powertrain, 24 hr roadside assistance.

EX- $1000 down, $258 a month inc tax. Does not include anything else.

what do you think about the deals I'm getting? At this point I may be leaning more toward the EX. Would like to get a car in the next week or so

They both look like better than average good deals??

What was the agreed selling price of both vehicles before taxes and MF / Residual #'s that were applied ??

Let me try and break down your deal.

From Honda's website, the MSRP of the EX-L sedan is $29,795. There is a $140 price difference between this price and your quote (not a big deal).
    • Invoice price (source: autotrader.com): $27,327
    • Amount below invoice without doc fees: $3328
    • Amount below invoice with doc fees: $2628
As you can see, the $700 doc fees do not make for a good deal. Your aim should be to keep negotiating the sale price of the car to balance out these doc fees, while reaching out to other dealers in your area. Target the last 2 days of the month.

Inquire about flex cash, if you plan to finance through Honda.

    Good luck.

So the money factor for both is 0.00059. Residual is 54%. MSRP on the LX is 24,130/ selling price 19,524
MSRP on the EX is 27,505/ selling price 22,583.
For the EX I'll have to go through a broker who comes highly recommended while the LX will be through a dealership. Any suggestions?

Your best bet is to reach out to as many dealers in your area, and pit them against each other. You should be able to get a few hundred dollars off at the end of the month, but I am not in a position to give you a number on the Touring coupe.

So on August 7th or there abouts Boch Honda in Norwell Ma was advertising a number of Honda Accord Touring models from as low as 27,956 to 28,690 depending upon model color. The price did not include taxes, title, wheel locks $98, and dealer fee of $429.    I now live in Florida and was planning to drive the car down.  When I arrived the car was ready and they were appraising my trade.  The price before negotiations  was 28,516. When I said I wanted to finance, I was told the only way they would do the deal is if I paid cash and the cash price before dealer fee etc. was 28,516.  They also indicated the reason why I could not finance was because the title had to be free of any incumberences.   The deal feel through. So I turned my attention to Florida dealers and I must say I have never seen a bunch of snake oil types. Dealer fees are north of 650 everywhere and they load up the cars with bs addons which are way over priced. I see a huge amount of collusion between all dealers.  No one wants to give a final price on the internet.  When I finally got one for a Accord Touring of 31700 not including a new plate $475. This was an out the door price including all the addons. I get a call from Hendricks Honda that there are additional equipment extras which add another $1295 to the already inflated price.  Bunch of thieves they are down here.   I am going to wait for the end of the month or later but Florida is not the place to buy a car when compared to Massachusetts or Maryland!

I was always wary of Boch prices, since they appear to fluctuate wildly. Their wheel lock fee is outrageous. I would not recommend anyone buy from them after my personal online experience. $429 for dealer doc fees is too high, even for MA.

My advice would be to buy in MD if you get anything below $28.5k at the end of next month, or maybe look at another car manufacturer.

I agree with you Blue.  The issue is if the MD dealers can do the title work so we can get the car registered in Florida.  I bought a Honda in MD from Ourisman and they did the titlework for Connecticut.  It was a piece of cake.  Massachusetts has very interesting laws about temporary registrations. They don't allow if for out of state types.  MD issues temp plates as a matter of fact, Mass does not.  The flimflam going on here in Florida is just way too much.  Collusion is hard to prove, but there most definitely is something odd here.  One of the directors at Rick Case said there was no way they could sell a car for less than $29k even with their fat $699 dealer fee.  I have no problem hanging onto my current Honda, but I really like the Touring.  But not for a penny over $29K which would include dealer fee, and freight.

Looking to get Accord Sedan EX-L as soon as possible, but I can wait until the end of the month. How does it look? I read that somebody got a sale price at 24k for the same model. What would be a good sale price of the car I should aim for?

    $795 accessories?
    $698 doc fee?

Looks like you are giving them $1500 back, right off the bat.

This is the same kind of BS they are pulling in Florida, except they use $1295 for accessories. If Honda dealers don't clean up their act, they will lose many. The sad part is hearing them tell me about how they have negative equity in the deal and they are getting $1500 back from Honda and are making another 1500 plus from their fake accessory and dock fee thievery. It is one thing to make money, it is another to collaborate to extort.

I would guess if you were to buy in December, their tune would be much different here in MA. Not sure about dealer's in FL. I would give Atamian Honda another look at the end of the month. Good luck, brother.

Atamiam has been at $29,100. They have been there for the last 3 months. Received the same quote from Silko. No one except BOCH was willing to put in writing for less. Boch listed a 2017 Honda Accord Touring (Black) on Cars.com for $27,956, adding the wheel locks $98 and the dealer doc fee of $429, the car including freight was $28,600. The issue is financing in MA and getting the car registered elsewhere. I am taking your suggestion about looking at other brands. For a few thousand more, Acura, Lexus, and as you mentioned Genesis, deserve a longer look.

Atamian had quoted me $29.6k at the beginning of April. Their doc fees are $399. So it sounds like your quote shows a price drop of $500.

My experience over the past few months, getting quotes for the Touring, has shown me most dealers are holding firm until 2018 models are released. You might be able to get a better deal next month, but at that point it may be worth looking at other brands in the same price range.

I have previously stated here I will not be buying the 2017 or 2018 model for various reasons. I will be looking at, and I have already started looking at other brands.

I am going to wait for the end of the month or later but Florida is not the place to buy a car when compared to Massachusetts or Maryland!

even though Maryland , may have better prices they're still very shady.

I'm taking this advice as well and start looking other brands too.

When there is this much collusion among dealers to screw the public, perhaps it is a good thing if they find out we don't want to buy their cars and they can sell them to each other.

Check out the .......Fusion, Camry, Passat, Avalon, Acura TLX they would be close to your buying price range.

Good thing that folks like us (on this forum) are educated buyers and will not fall for any games/lies/deception.

Looking to get Accord Sedan EX-L as soon as possible, but I can wait until the end of the month. How does it look? I read that somebody got a sale price at 24k for the same model. What would be a good sale price of the car I should aim for?

Let me try and break down your deal.
    • MSRP /Market Value of car = $29,795
    • Selling Price = $25,327.96
    • Cost of accessories = $795
    • Cost of car including accessories = $26,122.96
    • Invoice price of car = $27,377
    • Amount below invoice without accessories and doc fees = $1999.04
    • Amount below invoice including accessories but without doc fees = $1204.04
    • Amount below invoice including accessories and with doc fees = $506.04
Is the $101 in fees, registration fees?

If I were you, I will walk away from this deal and reach out to other dealers. If you really want this car, negotiate the selling price and cost of accessories. At the end of the month, you should be aiming for somewhere around $2.5k to $3k below invoice before doc fees and accessories. If you cannot get such a deal this month, try again next month.

    Good luck.

First round negotiations from dealer for 36/12 lease, zero down on 2017 Accord EX:
    MSRP: 27,505
    Rebate: 3,570
    Adj Price: 23,935
    Acquisition: 598
    RV: 54%
    MF: .00059
    "Admin fee": 589
    "Non-tax fees": 121

    My proposed:
    MSRP: 27,505
    Discount: 2,750
    Cap Cost: 24,754
    Acquisition Fee: 598
    Gross Cap Cost: 25,352
    Rebate: 3570
    Adj Cap Cost: 21,782

    Can I do better?

Invoice on this car is $25,239. Let me try and break down your deal:
    • Amount below invoice using $23,935 price = $1304
    • Amount below invoice including acquisition fee (should be $595) and doc fees of $598 = $111
There is not much you can as far as the acquisition fee when you are leasing. A few questions. You listed a rebate of $3,570 in the deal you were offered. Can you break it down? Is that just the dealer discount? What are non-tax fees? Registration fees?

You can do better, on the selling price. You should reach out to as many dealers as possible towards the end of the month.

I will walk away from this deal. Is the $3570 rebate the dealer discount? What are the non-tax fees? Registration fees? You can do much better, however the $595 acquisition is included in all leases. You should be aiming for somewhere around $2k to $2.5k below invoice before any doc fees. Reach out to as many dealers as possible at the end of the month.

After I sent a counter-proposal, their response was "Honda very rarely has rebates on vehicles", and countered with a new discount of $5,153 off of the $27,505 bringing my adjusted price to 22,352. Doc fee 589, non-tax fees 121.

You're leasing right? Check in with the Accord leasing discussion - I believe there is around $2750 in leasing incentives on the Accord at the moment. Whoever made that statement at the dealer needs to start being honest or learn more about the product he/she sells. If there are more dealers near you, it would be to your advantage to get multiple dealers competing for your business.

Assuming 800+ credit and 0 down with tax rolled over, would it be a push to get $400 a month on Accord EX-L?

    Lease or conventional financing?

You should be in the low 300s on a 36 month lease with zero due at signing depending on your location's sales tax policy (some states tax only the monthly payment and others tax the entire sales price).

To be at a 400 payment on conventional financing, your total of payments including interest would need to be $24k (60 month loan). Probably not gonna happen on an EXL without a few bucks down payment.

I am looking to finance 60 month. I just wanted to make sure that I am not being unreasonable. Then what would be a good monthly or OTD that I can argue for?

You would need to be at about $23.5 OTD to be at around a 400 payment - problem is it would take a sale price of around $4k below invoice to get there. $3k below invoice would be more realistic - would be around 420 a month depending on dealer doc fee. A low 400 payment will be difficult if you're in a high doc fee locale.

Also - don't negotiate payment when you solicit quotes - concentrate on sale price including dealer doc fee and make sure they include destination charge in the quote (some dealers conveniently omit that in their quote).

Technically, the dealer is correct - there are no 'rebates' on the Accord. There are incentives, however. $2750 is correct for Accord sedans this month. But, these are factory to dealer incentives that are usually passed along to the customer in the form of a reduced price.

Correct Michaell - that's why I stated "leasing incentives." But I believe there is a military rebate and a recent grad rebate, right? And they have been continuously in effect for some time now. And once in awhile, Honda does come out with rebates to help dealers move stock. My issue with dealers like this is that they could educate a shopper without giving away all their "trade secrets." Could've told the poster something like "while there are no significant rebates on a conventional purchase, we might have a little more pricing flexibility if you are interested in leasing."

Is the 2750 lease only? Any support for outright purchase?
