I'm looking at A4 Premium Plus Quattro. MSRP 47,500
Sale price 42,000. Georgia. What should my payments be, 2500 down? Thanks

What lease term and how many miles per year?

What is the composition of the $2500?

    fees and taxes

    .00063 MF and 55% residual.

Assuming the $2500 covers your upfront amounts, exactly, leaving the selling price as the adjusted CAP cost, then $484/mo.

I'll guess that $2500 won't quite cover taxes, acquisition fee ($895), dealer fee (high in GA, typically), DMV fees and first payment..

    What is the MSRP?

    What state and tax rate?

Do you have the full breakdown of the $2500?

    Quattro or FWD?

Quatro. MSRP 48,655. State is NJ. Tax rate is 6.875% Not 100 percent sure of the breakdown on the $2,500. It's covering the fees and any remaining goes to cap cost. I guess I need to get that to get the info. I'm figuring roughly $1200 on fees
Yeah, the more you know, the less likely you can be taken advantage of.

We don't have a residual for 17,000 miles per year - there will be an adjustment to the residual for the extra miles.

    What lease term?

The lease term is 36 months. So 51000 total miles.

New 2017 A4 Premium Plus. Price $40,589 17K miles per year. $2,500 up front, (Fees etc.) What kind of payment am I looking at. I'm being quoted $545

    .00063 and 52% for 36/15

Using $48,655 as the MSRP and $40,589 as the cap cost, I get a payment of $466/mo. Taxes and fees are separate.

And, that payment will go up based on the adjustment to the residual for the extra miles.

A Wall Street Journal reporter is hoping to find a recent buyer that would be willing to talk about their experience at the dealership, specifically about how/if the salesperson explained car safety systems during the purchase process. She's hoping to ask a few questions about how the dealer explained the ADAS package, tried to sell it to them, demonstrated how it worked, etc. Please send a note to pr@edmunds.com by next Friday 2/23/18

Thanks so much for your info.
Looking at 2018 A4 Ultra Premium Plus FWD with S Tronic Ventilated front seats and sport package.
    MSRP $42,300. State of TN.
    Offer price $38,071. Doc Fee 589 +Title/bus tax 208.66.
From what I see in prior posts, Residual for 36/10 is 53% and MF .00081. Is that correct? If so and I pay just the inceptions and 1st month, shouldn’t my monthly (including TN tax) be  about $510?
Dealer is saying Phantom Footprint and Permaplate are “on everything we sell.” I call BS on that and say if they put it on, I’m not doing the deal as they are trying to add $894 to the cap cost.

    $1000 marketing allowance
    $1000 loyalty

There is also an acquisition fee of $895 to account for.

Yes, that junk is adding about $25/mo to the payment.

Just tell them you won't pay for it, or move on to another dealer.

Thanks for the info. So, if the car price is $38071 and I pay the inception fee (895), doc fee (589), title (91), and business tax (118.66) upfront (total of 1692.66) my cap cost should be just the 38071, correct?

Edmunds TMV for this is 38214 so car price looks okay.

With the residual and MF you note, the payment should be $472.37/mo and then TN tax adds 33.07 for a total of $505.43. Does that look right?

At close I’d pay the 1692.66 fees plus the first month (505.43) for a total of 2198.09. Would you suggest just paying less at close and rolling rest into payment or is the $2198.09 reasonable?
  • markm615markm615 Member Posts: 12
Sorry, I meant TMV shows $38814, not 38214 so their offer of 38071 seems okay.

We recommend just the first payment and registration costs be paid at signing - add the bank and doc fees to the cap cost and make them part of the payment.

If the car is stolen or totaled, that up front money would be lost.

We suggest 6% off MSRP for Audi, before subtracting any incentives.

Apologies for the second email, but I’m trying to help my sister get the best price.  She just told me the dealer told her MSRP 44,200, sales price 40,000 and 500/month.  I think I can negotiate a better discount.  Your thoughts?

Signed my lease tonight; curious how I did. I think it's pretty good. Not the best deal, but a pretty good one, I hope. Any feedback appreciated. Also hope this helps arm others who are trying to get a better deal:

2018 A4 Quattro Premium Plus + Convenience Package + Cold Weather Package + Gray Oak Inlays + Wheel Locks + All-Weather Floor Mats

    12,000 miles a year for 36 months

    MSRP: $45820
Agreed sale price: $40048.19 (includes $1000 loyalty + $1500 marketing incentive; so by my math, I negotiated 7% discount before incentives)
Cap cost: $40048.19 (I paid my acquisition fee up front at lease sign, but realize I shouldn't have)
    Residual: 54%
MF: I didn't ask, but by my math, I think it's slightly marked up to .00072
    Down Payment: $0
Due at Signing: $1666.82 (includes acquisition fee, first month payment, title fee, license and reg fee, sales tax of $14.04, doc fee of $210, CVR fee of $24)
Monthly payment with 6% MI sales tax: $500.78

Also part of the deal; I had been leasing a 2016 A3 quattro, which still had 6 months of payments remaining. I received 3 month lease pull ahead from Audi. The dealership then cut me a check of $1335 to cover the 3 additional payments.

The deal felt pretty good, so I didn't quibble on the 6 bucks a month, or so, on the marked up MF. But maybe I could have done better?

That looks pretty good, especially with them paying for your current lease.

I am looking at 2018 Audi A4 Sedan Ultra Premium Plus with Navigation and telematics.
MSRP: $44,700/- ((Includes everything with destination fee))
State: California, Bay Area (San Jose).
    Miles: 12000 per year
    Lease: 36 months

What are the right numbers (down and monthly) for lease?
Is $2200 down (which includes 1st months payment, fees etc.) and $450 per month (including taxes) is a good deal to ask for? Note that above numbers include everything i.e. taxes, DMV fees, registration etc.

    Please advice me.

We recommend only the first payment and DMV costs be paid at lease signing - roll all other fees into the monthly payment.

    36/10: .00063 MF and 51% residual
    39/10: .00083 MF and 49% residual
    Add 1% for 7.5K/yr

    $1000 marketing allowance
    $1000 AFS loyalty

Premium Plus residuals are 4% higher, and will result in a much lower payment.

We recommend only the first payment and DMV costs be paid at lease signing - roll all other fees into the monthly payment.
53% is the residual, or the percentage of the MSRP the bank believes the car will be worth at the end of the lease.

.00081 is the money factor, or the lease version of the interest rate - it is used to calculate how much "rent charge" (interest) you will pay during the lease.

In posts this week, I've understood that the MF for an A4 Ultra Premium Plus with 36/10 should be 0.00081.
I presented an offer to my dealer today with the 0.00081 MF and 54% residual on their offered price for the car (MSRP 42300, offer price 38071 plus doc fees - 589 - and Audi lease fee - 895 - rolled in - cap cost 39555) and he sent the following with regard to MF:

"As for the money factor, 0.00081 is our buy rate, which you quoted. We can increase this up to 3 points depending on the deal etc. As a retail establishment we have control over the amount of rate we put in each deal, simply put it's how we make a profit. The numbers that you calculated was using that buy rate number which is exclusive for Audi employees only. That's the difference that your seeing. As for your deal, we've only marked up the money factor by one point. I'm being as transparent as possible to let you know your getting a great deal that is fair for the both of us. As I'm sure you know to calucate the APR from money factor you multiply the money factor by 2400. Buy rate is the equivalent 1.904% we're increasing this by .96% which is less than one point. The money factor for this lease is .00121."

He offered to throw in Audi Care saying it's worth 860, but for a 36/10 lease, I'd get less than half the value so it's not really much of a a factor to me.

He's saying ~580/month with including TN tax (7%), but with the 0.0081 MF, I'm getting more like $550 if I just pay the 1st month and tax/title of 210 upfront (toal ~800) . The net overall cap cost including doc fee and lease fee would be $39555.

From everything I've read with you guys, these lease rates are not "employee only" so I'm thinking I should either push more on the price or get him down on the MF.

    Thoughts?

He's saying ~580/month with including TN tax (7%), but with the 0.0081 MF, I'm getting more like $550 if I just pay the 1st month and tax/title of 210 upfront (toal ~800) . The net overall cap cost including doc fee and lease fee would be $39555.

From everything I've read with you guys, these lease rates are not "employee only" so I'm thinking I should either push more on the price or get him down on the MF.

    Thoughts?

Tell them you'll be happy to work with another dealer that is more accommodating with the MF.

That is nonsense on the "employee only" MF - lots of posters lease Audis with the base MF.

He is correct on the value of Audi Care, as it adds 1% to the residual, or $423.

And, you want to get 6% off MSRP, before factoring in the incentive.

You may have to expand your search area to get the deal you want.

Signed a lease over the weekend in Los Angeles for A4 premium plus, msrp $41,250 selling $34900 CAP $35650. 36/12 $1000 down(including first month payment, DMV and all other fees). Monthly is $438 including tax. I called 6 dealers and met with 2 until I got that price. I feel like I got a fair deal. Good luck everyone!

Hi, I have just started to price an Audi A4 ultra front wheel drive with glacier white metallic, convenience package, and 18 inch wheels in Florida.

I got my first quote for 36 months 12,000 miles. MSRP 40 K, Cap price 35,127 acquisition $895, dealer fee $799, registration fee in Florida which is high $430, money factor. 0081 no residual quoted. Due at signing $2500, but I’m not sure if that includes sales tax. Monthly payment $454.

Can you tell me the residual fee for this car, and if you think this is a pretty good deal. My thanks/Tom

    Premium or Premium Plus trim?

    .00081 MF and 53% residual
    $1000 marketing allowance

Florida taxes the monthly payment, except for taxable items or CAP cost reductions paid upfront (tax on those items is collected upfront).
It appears they just keep adding fees, until they can use up your $2500. ;)

If we assume the $2500 covers the first payment and fees, and that $35,127 is also the adjusted CAP cost, then the payment is $432/mo.+tax. At 6% rate, I get $458/mo. That's not too far off your quote.

The only thing that seems especially out of bounds is that massive $799 dealer fee, though that is sadly typical for Florida dealers. That partially offsets the very healthy discount from MSRP.

    Hello –

I am in need of a new car and just test drove a 2018 Audi A4 Quattro Premium Plus. Loved it! I am going the lease route for the first time and not real savvy here :-)

Hoping the following information would help if anyone may have input if this is a good deal or if I should shoot for a lower payment? I do not want to be greedy but at same time not get taken advantage of. Also, I initially focused on the monthly payment and I now understand this is not ideal.

    • Vehicle: This is for a 2018 Audi A4 Quattro Premium Plus
    • MSRP: $49290
    • Selling Price: $44027
    • Fees / Taxes: $2150
    • Adjusted Cap Cost: $46897
    • To be paid by me $781
    • 36 month lease
    • Monthly payment of $619/month for 10k and $639/month for 12k. I am leaning towards the 12k
    • Cap Tax: $1840. I am located in the Chicago Suburbs and tax rate is 7%.
    • Residuals: 10k is $27,110 (55%); 12k is $26,124 (53%). Is this in line?
    • Money factor is .00093

    .00063 MF and 54% residual for 36/12
They've misquoted the percentage for 12K/yr. The 10K/yr residual is correct. Those two mileage allowances only have a spread of 1% between residuals.
They've marked up the money factor, also.

    36/12
With that adjusted CAP, I get $645/mo. using the marked up money factor and their incorrect residual.
With the correct residual, I get $632/mo. With the base MF and correct residual, $610/mo.

As you can see, the marked up money factor is adding about $22/mo.
The residual problem will take care of itself, as the dealer can't use the wrong residual. When they actually start to enter the numbers, they'll catch the problem. Of course, when the payment comes down, they'll probably try to mark something else up, to make up for it.

The difference in 10K and 12K per year will actually only be $13/mo, once they use the correct residuals, so you should definitely take 12K/yr, if you think you need it.

So, $781 is your total amount due at signing?

    Hi Kyfdx -

Appreciate all the information but a little lost honestly. $781 is total due at signing. Then the monthly payments as noted.

Is there a place on Audi's website that I could note the base MF and correct residual (I cannot seem to find this). I would be comfortable with $610/month if that is the right figure and they could do it.

I am attaching a scan of the offer they gave me. This is for 10k and he said to just add $20/month for 12k.

    Thanks!

The MF and residual info is not published on the website. We try to level the playing field for folks like you.

That scan is incomplete - no reference to the acquisition fee of $895. Ask the dealer for the adjusted capitalized cost with the fee added in. It should match what my co-host provided.

Premium trim, not premium plus. Yes, I confirmed w the salesman that taxes are included, so the monthly payment adds up.

I’m going out tomorrow to get other quotes, but in your opinion

A good deal or on the high side??

    Thx

As I mentioned, they'll sort out the residual issue. Dealers have no authorization to alter it, and the computer will catch it. When they do, they'll show $632/mo. for the 36/12 term.

Given all of the information, I'd be happy with $610/mo, with $781 due at signing... But, ask for $599. ;)

I went to a different dealer and got this quote. He claims that the monthly rate Of $483 tools the upfront fees into the monthly payment. I don’t really see that from the paperwork. He said to get the  monthly rate with the fees paid upfront, I should subtract the upfront fees from the Price. I get a monthly fee of $418.   I am confused.

In posts this week, I've understood that the MF for an A4 Ultra Premium Plus with 36/10 should be 0.00081. I presented an offer to my dealer today with the 0.00081 MF and 54% residual on their offered price for the car (MSRP 42300, offer price 38071 plus doc fees - 589 - and Audi lease fee - 895 - rolled in - cap cost 39555) and he sent the following with regard to MF: "As for the money factor, 0.00081 is our buy rate, which you quoted. The money factor for this lease is .00121." He offered to throw in Audi Care saying it's worth 860, but for a 36/10 lease, I'd get less than half the value so it's not really much of a a factor to me. Thanks for your help on this. I just walked. They weren’t willing to deal. Ended up doing a Giulia with a higher MSRP, but got their buy rate of .00002. Residual lower, but with price discount and nothing down, still $100 less per month. Really happy with deal and can’t thank you guys enough for your input.

On that document, the $483/mo.+tax is with the acquisition fee rolled in, but the dealer fee and FL DMV fees paid upfront. ($895 dealer fee... what a joke...).

So, a payment of $516.83/mo, with $2328 due at signing.

I'm looking at a lease for an Audi Premium Plus (Black Metallic + Nav + cold weather package) in Philadelphia PA metro area.

    Have the following:
    MSRP: $49,675
    Purchase Price: 43,2000
The Residual is .54 or $26,824.50
    Money Factor is .00093
    Adjusted Capitalized Cost $44,664.15
    Acquisition Fee $895
    Disposition Fee $495
    Security Deposit $0.00

Monthly Payment is $562.03 + $50.58 tax. Seems high to me based on what I've seen here?

.00063 is the base MF on the A4 Quattro; dealer has marked the MF up for extra profit.

Politely tell them you won't sign a deal where the MF is inflated; they know what the base rate is.

That will save you $22/mo, before tax.

However, the 13% discount you are getting from sticker may shrink if you push for the base MF. Try to get both the big discount and the base MF.

Hi All - first post here, but been reviewing info here for months, great stuff!
Looking at an A4 PP with Nav/Sport/Cold Weather

    36k/36month

    MSRP 49,365
Discount of around 5K (they took the papers so I just jotted everything down and couldn't remember the exact number) so around 44,366
Sales tax is 6.25 in MA

I asked what money factor was and they gave me a percentage of 2.5, and residual was 54%

They are quoting me 599/month with $1000 drive-off... I have been messing with the calc
here: https://www.bankrate.com/calculators/auto/auto-lease-calculator.aspx and it comes out to about 570/month.

Is 22,564 high? The only thing they could be inflating is the MF as far as I can tell, I saw in an earlier post the base was around 1.5%

Any guidance would be appreciated. Do like the car and want to make a move soon.

    Thanks!

If they are quoting you an APR, then they are just trying to hide the actual money factor, because Audi doesn't use APRs on a lease.

Assuming AWD, .00063 MF and 54% residual for 36/12.
With that MSRP and selling price, I get $537/mo.+tax, assuming acquisition fee, dealer fees and DMV fees are paid upfront, along with the first payment. That's probably closer to $2000. So, if we add $1000, since they are only asking for $1000 drive off, then the payment would be $565/mo.+tax. That's awfully close to their quote.

If the money factor is marked up, then their price is a little lower than what you've given.
