I know MSDs pay back a hefty return on investment.

It is almost too good to be true.

Does anyone have any bad experiences in loading up on Audi MSDs?

What do you guys recommend paying for Audi MSDs?

    The amount isn't negotiable.

It's the monthly payment rounded up to the next $25 increment, X the number of SDs.

    Thanks!

Do you recommend putting down MSDs? Will there be any problem getting the MSDs back at the end of the lease?

Yes, the MSD program does make sense, financially.

Shouldn't be any issue in getting the monies returned at the end of the lease - unless you decide to roll them over into a new Audi lease in 3 years.

Hey there - long time lurker, first time poster. Want to say first off, thanks for this service. It is really appreciated. Looking to get some thoughts on a potential deal. I'm looking at a 2018 A4 Quattro P+ with nav/telematics package, sport package, and black optics package. MSRP is $50,819. Dealer is offering selling price of $44,153. Adding in Audi Care for $869 + tax. Terms of the lease would be 10k miles/36 months. PA resident, PA dealer.

They state the money factor is .00063 and 55% residual.

Signing cash would be $1,193 (includes first month's payment and fees).

Quoted monthly payment is $588-$598 a month.

Thoughts? I know this car has been on the lot for at least six months so I think they got pretty aggressive on the outset with the selling price (13% off MSRP). Was hoping to get payments to $550 or less. Not sure how much more I can push. Sounds like this is a great deal but don't want to be missing anything.

I confirm the MF and residual as listed; add 1% for AudiCare

With the prices given, I get $482/mo plus tax.

Ask the dealer what adjusted cap cost they used for their payment quote, and how they got there from the selling price.

    Hi,

I got quoted this for a 2018 Audi A4 Ultra Prestige with Cold Package, 36/12. I know it's overprice, please guide me on how to counter this offer. Thank you!

If you look, you'll see they are quoting you 42/12, not 36/12.

    36/12: .00081 MF and 49% residual
    42/12: .00101 MF and 45% residual

You have to add the $895 acquisition fee to their numbers.

But, with the payment they are showing, it doesn't look like they marked up the money factor.
The calculated payment I get is slightly higher, even with the base MF. (for 42/12)
36 month payment would be about $30/mo. higher.

For that Audi, it's a decent deal

The Premium Plus model residuals are 4% higher, and would result in a much lower payment.

    Thanks for a quick reply!

They sent me a revised quote for 36 months, and it's $30 more just like you said. Should I push for more or just take the deal?

Also please advise me here, if I know I am going to turn in the lease early in the future (say maybe 6 months early before lease ends), should I stick with the 10,000 miles/year? As long as I don't cross at 36,000 miles when I turn in my lease, I should be good and save a few hundread dollars?

    Thank you!

Hi - long time fan of these threads and thank you for all of the helpful information that you provide and share.

Here's the deal that I was about to close on until the dealership tried to pull a fast one. 2018 A4 Quattro PP+, Black Optic with Nav, metallic paint and protection kit MSRP 50,775, adjust cap cost of $44,803. Confirmed MF and RV for 36/7.5k, and the disclosure print out they handed me came out spot on to $500.83, TTL paid upfront.

I asked them to amend the deal to include AudiCare, knowing that the the RV would go up 1%. They came back with a monthly of $498.xx. I told them that is higher than what it should be with the 1%. They tried to talk their way around it but at the end the sales person admitted that the sales manager wanted to keep the benefit of the 1% markup to themselves.... I walked away on principle because I believe they are not negotiating in good faith, giving me a worse deal than what was originally agreed upon.

My dilemma is that I still think the Adj Cap Cost of $44,803 is pretty good for the NY market.... but I'd hate to give in to the shady tactics of this dealership.

My question - is this common practice? And should I consider proceeding with the original deal without AudiCare?

Common? No. But, not surprising. Anytime there is a dollar to be made, the dealership will make a play for it.

As noted, that is a very hefty discount, so you can't blame the dealer for wanting to claw some of that back in other places (usually, it's in a marked up MF, but that's not the case here).

You gotta pick your battles, knowing you aren't going to win them all. That's the point of negotiation.

Can you clarify the $1,000 marketing allowance? Is that an incentive directly to the dealer? Because I see a $1,000 customer loyalty incentive and a $1,000 customer conquest incentive, neither of which I will qualify for. I just wanted to make sure I know what I qualify for in addition to any dealer discount I can negotiate, which seems to be about 10% here in Illinois.

The marketing allowance is a factory to dealer incentive, and isn't disclosed publicly.

Simply use the knowledge to negotiate your best price.

    Hi Michael,
We are in talks with a dealer in oregon and will be going over for a final meeting and negotiation tomorrow.
2018 Audi A4 quatrro premium plus

    Quote/offer details:
     $46325 MSRP
    $4633 discount
    MF:0.00063
Residual of .55 for 36 months, 12k miles
The final offer we can expect after negotiation is 2k down payment and approximately 500$ per month for 36 months. They have quoted 510/month for 12k miles which amounts to a residual factor of .54.
I've attached a snapshot of the cap cost and lease payment breakdown. The attached image is for the 10k miles but the cap cost etc would remain the same right?

Can you help us understand if this is a fair deal and if there's anymore room for negotiation?

Just to clarify..the dealer said the RF is .55 for 36/12k miles but when I do the calculations, for a $510/monthly and MF 0.00063, RF 0.55 I get $497/monthly.
$510/monthly is what I get if I change the RF 0.54 for the same terms. We are expecting that they may drop to a monthly payment of $510 with 2k down, when we go in for negotiation.
We're just not sure if this is a good deal for the A4 Quattro AWD premium plus and if there's room to negotiate.

So after further in person negotiations, the dealer has accepted the original terms with AudiCare.  So to recap MSRP $50,775, adj cap cost $44,803, MG 0.00063 RV 57% ; 0 down, NYC TTL, Acq Fee, 1st month and AudiCare paid upfront (~$4,100 due at drive off) monthly of $487 for 36/7.5k.

    Hi,
could you provide MF and RV for 36/10 on a 2018 A4 Ultra Premium Plus in Southern CA?
Dealer is telling me rates are different for Ultra vs. Quattro. I was quoted 53% residual and 0.00081 MF.

    Thank you!

Hello, I was just introduced to this forum and I'm hoping that someone can help me with a lease for my Mom. We live in different states and I think the salespeople think that they can take advantage of the situation...so here I am.

When I go through the Audi website to build my own car I choose A4 TFSI (not ultra) premium plus with automatic transmission ($47,625 not including $925 destination fee), plus monsoon gray (+$575) exterior, walnut inlay (+$325), with navigation ($3000.).

With 7500 mi/yr that leaves me with $650./mth with no money down (but $1545.87 due at signing) per the website. This seems super high to me considering the low mileage. I would think the residual would be higher.

How does this translate when I"m negotiating with the dealerships?

I heard that getting the Audi Care (I heard that this will also increase the residual value by 1%??). The lease is based out of Rockland County, NY if that helps at all?

This one salesperson was trying to sell us this car PLUS the cold weather package (+500) and sports package (+750) and Audi Beam Rings (+250) and Audi Guard Protection (+325). ...
Grand total of $50,075.00). We do not need all of that and honestly we don't even need the navigation but I know most come with it so I guess we'll just deal with it and imagine that will only help the residual value anyway??

She claims that the money factor is .00059 and the residual 55% $27,541.00.

Other info: Rebate $1500, Cash Cap reduction $6.02, Cap Cost Reduction $1506.02

...adjusted Cap Cost 44,480.97 and so that left us with $3347.00 paid by customer per her calculations. This would leave us with $498.03 per month for 36 months.

Does this sound reasonable for this completely loaded car??

And how would we determine what we should be asking to pay for the car that we actually want (as above) without all these bells and whistles. Of course we're hoping that there is a car like this that we want in stock so they will be more willing to make a deal.

Any advice is welcome. Apologies for being a newbie and not knowing the jargon.

    Thank you in advance!!

.00059 MF and 55% residual is correct for 36/7.5K
Adding AudiCare ($869) will add 1% to the residual
    $1500 bonus cash
$1000 loyalty/conquest (if she has BMW, MB, Mercedes)

Building your car on-line is a nice exercise in seeing the options, but once you get an idea of the MSRP, it's better to actually search inventory of local dealers to see what is actually available. Match it up as closely as possible, and do your calculations on those vehicles. Don't bother negotiating on a theoretical car.

Looks like the price is around $46,000 before deducting the rebate on the quoted car.
8% off MSRP is a pretty decent discount.

    $498/mo. 1st payment
    $895 acquisition fee
    $300 NY DMV/doc fee
    $1750 sales tax?

    That seems about right.

With that adjusted CAP, I get $513/mo ($15/mo. higher)
An Audi isn't all that cheap to lease, but this is a decent deal, without money factor markups.

A lower MSRP model should have a proportionately lower payment, as long as it's the same model and trim (A4 Quattro, Premium Plus)
For instance, this vehicle's payment is $9.95 per thousand of MSRP. You can use that with a lower MSRP, as well. So, if the MSRP is $47,000, you could expect a payment of $467.65, more or less. (47 X $9.95)
The upfront money would be slightly less, as well (the difference in the payment).

    One other note...

7500 miles/yr doesn't make a lease very cost efficient. You are paying nearly 1.8 X the cost/mile of someone that needs 15K/yr.

For people that drive that little, buying a slightly used car and keeping it for five years is usually a better bet.

    Greetings kyfdx,

Could you kindly provide the buy rate and money factor for an '18 A4 Ultra Premium FWD (33327) as pertains to a 30/15k, 36/15k, 39/15 and 42/15k.

Also, if Audi Care ($869) is added, does the cost get added to the MSRP for residual purposes? Lastly, is the cost of Audi Care negotiable?

    Thank you

    .00081 and 53% (30/15) or 50% (36/15)
    .00101 and 48% (39/15) or 46% (42/15)
    $1000 bonus cash
    $1000 conquest or loyalty

AudiCare bumps the residual by 1% if purchased, but is not added to the MSRP.

Cost of AudiCare is not negotiable.

    .00081 MF and 54% residual

I'll guess the Essentials Pkg is some dealer added accessories that have minimal value.
The acquisition fee is charged by the bank. Every lease has an acquisition fee.

The calculation seems about right. The money factor markup adds about $14/mo.
