I would like to custom order a Volvo XC90 in Los Angeles (I like the 4-corner air suspension and the convenience package but don't care for a lot of the extras). A number of dealers are telling me that they can't provide numbers until the car shows up (even if I am willing to pay a deposit to lock-in price).

Questions:

1. Is that true?
2. Is a dealer more or less likely to offer discounts on a custom-order car?
3. Does anyone have any experience with the AAA car buying program?

You should be able to negotiate the selling price of the vehicle before you order it. However, they may not be able to lock in lease parameters.

Generally, we've found dealers less likely to offer discounts on custom orders.

I am confused about the $500 cap cost which is added in here. That $500 is the Volvo Loyalty Rebate.
Why is it added back here and I am paying a total of $2407 in fees?

it's reduced in the selling price, but basically it seems like i am paying for it again...

$3000 lease incentives on T6; $10,002 incentives on the T8

Subtract 2% for 39 months - if the residual is favorable enough, the extra payments may result in a lower payment.

Confirm the adjusted cap cost with the dealer.

I get $592/mo with those prices.

Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost, and make sure you understand what was added to and subtracted from the selling price to get that number.

We also recommend you limit your up front cash to just the first payment and DMV costs - roll the other fees and taxes into the cap cost and the lease payment.

NY taxes the sum of the payments and collects the amount up front. You can roll that $2100 into the cap cost and monthly payment, however - which is our recommendation.

Thank you for your comments on the numbers I sent to you in previous post. I don’t know how to reply back and probably did not supply you all the pertinent info to give you the whole picture. Therefore, I have attached the printout the dealer gave to me to arrive at the 2018 XC90 T6 Mom (w Mom+ and Convenence Pkg, and @ few other mino4 adds) 36 mos/12k lease number of $626/mth. You mentioned that your calc arrive at $592. Before I go back to the dealer, can you please help me take a look to see what I can tell the dealer? Thank you so much again for your help. It is too complicated and confusing for me : (
