My $592/mo is before tax - to approximate your dealer quote, I would have to use a tax rate of about 5.75%

Hi @Michaell , thanks for explaining that the $592 is before tax.  The tax rate is 6.875% so it will arrive at approx $626.  Does this lease sound reasonable for this car?  I am in NJ and just wanted to check is the lease is within the range.

$8K off sticker? I guarantee you the $3K is part of that discount.

Using your MSRP and sale price, I get $526/mo plus tax; $573/mo if I assume a 9% tax rate.

So, either the adjusted cap cost is higher than your sale price, or the MF has been inflated for additional dealer profit.

I just looked it over and the adjusted cap cost was about $1500 higher than the sale price.  It was explained to me that $600 of it was the wear and tear warranty I wanted to purchase and $995 for destination fee?  Does it make sense that they include that into the adjusted cap cost or are they pulling a fast one on me?

Pretty sure that the $3000 is a Volvo-to-dealer incentive.
So, shoot for a selling price that is $3000 lower than if they didn't have it.

I would like some advice on how to deal with the following situation.  I have been negotiating with a dealer to lease a 2018 Volvo XC90--we are very close on all the numbers.  However, the monthly lease payment that the dealer is coming up with is materially differently (i.e., more than $50 a month) from the monthly payment calculated by the auto lease calculator at bankrate.com and at https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/loans/auto-loans/nerdwallet-lease-calculator/. There is no disagreement on the money factor, MSRP, negotiated price and terms of lease. What am I missing? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Ask the dealer for the adjusted CAP cost, and an itemization of how it differs from the negotiated price.
Also, make sure you understand how tax is calculated for your state.

Just leased a 2018 XC 90 on Sunday. Dealer is trying to push some kind of insurance program in which around $890 will buy you $3500 worth of protection to cover damages to the vehicle at the expiration of the lease when one has to turn the car in. Any thoughts?
