I went to lease today and the money factor was 0.00284 for the 2018 c43 coupe. Told me it was I was tier 3? Brought it down to 0.00249 by putting down 5 MSDs.

Told me MF is non-negotiable unfortunately

We don't know the standard MF for MBFS - we've believed it to be .00200 to .00220, but it could be higher.

And, we don't have any of the other credit tier markups, either.

The only suggestion I have for you is to reach out to another dealer and see what numbers they give you.

    What term/mileage allowance?
Are there Texas sales tax credits on this deal? (your tax looks low for Texas)
Ask the dealer for the adjusted CAP cost (for instance, no mention of the acquisition fee).
    And, the money factor used.

I am scheduled to close tomorrow, so without the money factor details , can you tell me if 590 is the number I should go with ? This is my fifth lease from the same dealer, should I expect any additional discount for being a repeat customer ?

    .00127 MF and 60% residual

If that was your adjusted CAP, then the payment should be $504/mo.
I'll guess that's not the adjusted CAP, as the $1095 isn't listed in the amounts that add up to $44,389.
Adding $1095 (marked up from $795), the payment is $536/mo.

That's still a long, long way from $590/mo.
Another guess: Massive markup to the base money factor.
Adding the $1095, the money factor would have to be .00200 to get to that payment.

Those numbers they gave you? Specifically, it says "Purchase Option". Ask for the adjusted CAP cost, and have them lay it out, just like the purchase option numbers. Then, ask them to disclose the money factor.

$590/mo. is way too much for this vehicle.

    It's a RWD SEDAN, right?

Dealer can mark up the MF for extra profit.

Be polite and tell them you won't sign unless you get the base rate.

And, start shopping other dealers; only takes one to make a deal on your terms.

    .00141 MF and 62% residual

Some sort of residual reduction for the mileage on the loaner, though.

Man this is so frustrating his MF is through the roof and telling me the residual is 57 instead of 58. Is there anyway to show this to him on some official website so I dont have to say "some guy on the forum told me" lol

Maybe, it's a 2017 model? That would explain the residual.

yeah he fixed residual but is giving me .0021 MF and only bringing it down to base rate .00151 after all my MSDs BUT he did take 13% off MSRP for an AMG car...

Let me know what you think in the grand scheme of things:

Yeah.. that's a big discount, but of course they took $799 back with that doc fee. Still a big discount.

Of course, they haven't given you a breakdown of the adjusted CAP cost. You don't pay that big sales tax number upfront in Florida, as they tax the monthly payment. And, no mention of the acquisition fee, which I'm sure they marked up to $1095, as well.

We'll just assume the Adjusted CAP cost is the sale price, +$1095 acquisition fee, -$500 CAP reduction from your upfronts listed above right. Looks like the rest of the fee are being paid upfront.
    $53,980 adjusted CAP
    .00151 MF
    $641/mo.+tax
    With 7% tax, that's $685/mo.

I'd have a hard time giving them $7000 of my money to hold, just so they can markup the money factor. But, as you noted, that's a big discount. You probably wouldn't get that discount with the base money factor.

    Thank you!

    .00090 MF and 59% residual

$8000 upfront? The whole point of leasing a car is to pay by the month.

The numbers given are for the "Purchase Option". Since WA taxes the monthly payment, the tax number is irrelevant. Also, they haven't disclosed the $795 lease acquisition fee (often marked up to $1095)

If I add the title/registration, plus the $795 acquisition fee to the sale price, for an adjusted CAP of $52,732, then the payment should be $643/mo.+ WA tax (10.2%?) = $709/mo.
That's with just $709 due at signing.

    Total cost: $709 X 36 = $25,524

    Their quote: $8000 + ($546 X 35) = $27,110.

It's pretty obvious that they've marked up the money factor and probably the acquisition fee, as well.

$8000 upfront just hides the true monthly cost of the lease. The actual monthly cost of their quote is around $760/mo, once you amortize the upfront payment.

    RWD?
    .00127 MF and 58% residual for 36/15

We don't know the residual reduction for the existing mileage. Check with the dealer. (likely $500 or less)

  • I received a quote today for a new 2018 MB C-Class 300 Coupe with an MSRP of $50,100 in Florida. I received a 12.67% discount for a negotiated price of $43,750. I rolled in my Delivery Service and Acquisition Fees and my adjusted Cap Cost is $45,295 MF and Residual is .00090/58% for 36/10K lease with $799 Total out of pocket covering 1st month of $549 including tax and $250 for registration and transfer fees.

Am I getting a good deal or can I do better?

I confirm the MF and residual values as listed.

If the tax rate is 6%, then I'm bang on the dealer quote of $549/mo

Only way to improve it is to get even more off the MSRP. Can it be done? Don't know unless you try.

  • Thanks Michael for your review on the deal. Does MB accept monthly security deposits to lower the money factor? If so, what is the maximum number of months? I did this with a previous lease with BMW and it lowered the monthly payments by $50.

How long does it take to get a car for a special order usually? And what can I do if a delivery date gets delayed way too long?

I locked MSRP for the special order (2018 C class) on mid Dec, 2017, and recently I was told that the car will get delivered by mid June, 2018. The dealer said '8 to 12 week waiting' when I signed on the paper, and now it became 6-month (almost 26 weeks).

    May I have your advice?

You don't really have any leverage, other than to ask for your deposit back, assuming you made one.

Did they have an explanation for the six month time frame?
