I just ordered a Jeep Trackhawk last week and it should be at the dealership in 6-8 weeks. Almost fully loaded, paid sticker = $99,260. Sales tax here (Phoenix area) is around 7.95%. I've never leased a vehicle before but have excellent credit and would like to do a 36 month lease with $1,000 down. The $1,000 was needed to reserve the vehicle in my name and I don't want to put any more toward the cap cost reduction if possible since I don't plan to buy it after the lease is up. What will my payments look like? What is the MF and residual I should estimate? I am hoping to get it for around $1,500 a month or less, so if it doesn't come down to that with $1,000 down what would I need to put down or do in order to reduce it to that cost? Help and any explanations of what to do would greatly help in this process. Thank you!

Help and any explanations of what to do would greatly help in this process. Thank you!

For February, the numbers are standard MF (.00190-.00230) and 51% for 36/15.

If the MSRP and cap cost are the same, I get between $1766-$1831/mo, depending on the actual MF. That assumes all fees are paid up front.

To get the payment to $1500/mo with tax, the cap cost will have to be about $89,000-$91,000 (again, depending on MF), so another $8-10K up front, in addition to the fees.

Just so you know, that up front cash would be lost if the car is stolen or totaled during the lease.

That's a whole lotta money for a Jeep.

EDIT - one last thought. I don't know if you'll have to use the program in March or April when the car arrives, or if yoiu can "lock in" the lease numbers at the time you order. So, the program could get better .... or worse, when you sign the paperwork.

Thanks for the info. Yeah it is expensive for a Jeep. AWD and the Hellcat motor will do that. Do you have any recommendations on which figures would be best to try and bargain the best deal possible for a lease? It’s limited run and much sought after so I was lucky to get it at sticker price. Most are paying $5-10k over sticker

No suggestions, if it's that rare. You're only option is to try to negotiate a discount from sticker. Gotta pay to play.

I just received the following quote for a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, 4x4, 12,000 miles per year, 36 months, based out of Connecticut.

    $43,888 msrp
    $41,344 selling price
    $3,250 in Rebates

    $39,052 final price

    53% residual, .00012 MF

    $499 conveyance fee
    $250 Registration
    $2,834 taxes

Final monthly $446 pre tax, $460 with tax.

The only thing due at signing is first month's payment.

Do the MF, residual, and incentives look right? Any thoughts on tricks for getting a better deal? Thank you!

We don't have the incentive information, but the MF and residual are correct.

Connecticut taxes the monthly payment, so that tax number can't be part of your lease deal. That's likely for a purchase quote.

    I get the same payment ($446/mo. pre-tax).

The only way to get lower, is to negotiate a lower selling price.

    Hi Michael,

Thank you. I negotiated with another dealership and they will give it to me for invoice pricing with a $1,000 dealer lifetime maintenance package on it. The new total is $94,725 plus tax, title, license and $399 doc fee. What would that equate to for a 36 month lease with $0 down vs $5,000 down and for 10k miles vs 15k miles per year.

The tax is 8.6% where the new dealership is located. Up from 8% where the other dealership is that was charging me MSRP.

    Thank you!

I have a question - you calculate your monthly payment/residual/depreciation on the final price of 39000 NOT the 41244, right? When I questioned a dealer about their numbers they seem to have calculated the lease on the sell price (higher) number rather than the number with rebates deducted.

The residual is ALWAYS calculated against the MSRP - the bottom line number of the factory window sticker.

The depreciation is the delta between the adjusted cap cost and the residual amount.

If the MSRP is the same, then the lower cap cost means the monthly payment will range from $1630/mo to $1693/mo, depending on the MF used.

That assumes that all fees and such are paid up front.

For every $1000 down, subtract about $30/mo from the payment.

I just received the following quote for a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, 4x4, 12,000 miles per year, 36 months, based out of Connecticut. $43,888 msrp $41,344 selling price $3,250 in Rebates $39,052 final price 53% residual, .00012 MF $499 conveyance fee $250 Registration $2,834 taxes Final monthly $446 pre tax, $460 with tax. The only thing due at signing is first month's payment. Do the MF, residual, and incentives look right? Any thoughts on tricks for getting a better deal?
Thanks. So on a grand cherokee with residual 53% mf .00017 msrp 51k and price after discounts and rebates of 43k what would be the monthly price for 36/12?

I'm using Chrysler Capital numbers; find out what bank your dealers are using for their quotes.

I"m looking at a 2018 Jeep GC High Altitude 4x2. Dealer called with the numbers yesterday and it seems the monthly via Ally is about $30-$40 cheaper per month.

Any pros/cons leasing via Ally versus Chrysler Capital? I've always done CC.

What would the MF and RV be for the High Altitude 15k per year via Chrysler? Any incentives?

Ally (and US Bank) often have larger incentives for leasing, which is an advantage. We don't have their MF or RV to compare, however, but I'm not surprised that the Ally deal is less.

The only concern I would have is that Ally isn't as likely to work with you at the end of the lease; Chrysler Capital would like to have you as a repeat customer, so may be more flexible about end of lease charges.

Not a lease, but purchasing a 2018 Overland V6 4x2. MSRP $46,685, my price $35,800 + TTL. Is this a good deal? This includes $1000 conquest and $2500 Jeep rebate. Thanks.

We don't track pricing, but that seems like a pretty good deal. I'd be inclined to purchase over lease, too, if I was getting $11K off MSRP

Thanks @Michaell. I saw a few pages back where Chrysler Capital is waiving the acquisition fee. Is that an incentive along the lines of dealer cash where they aren't obligated to pass it along? I can't find anything online about it at all.

It varies by region.. waived for some trim lines, not others. Not waived for diesels.

Guessing it's disclosed at lease signing.

Just picked up a 2018 High Altitude 4x4 in NY. Options are 5.7 and Harman Kardon. $55,975 including destination. Looks like the builds completed in 2018 have gone up $100 in MSRP and $100 in destination. I'm seeing $56,175 for this same build on window stickers.

After crunching the numbers using Chrysler's rates, I told myself I'd be OK with $680 a month with first month + DMV at signing. Ended up using USBank. Sign and drive ($0 at signing) and $679 for 36/15. Not too sure of the specifics(I don't care, read below), but the rebate was $6,250, MF was a bit higher, and residual about the same. Was told they could not get me to my number using Chrysler, which I know is BS, but I guess they weren't making enough on it through Chrysler. I have no problem with US Bank. I have leased with them before. Also qualified for $500 BonusDrive rebate check. I qualified for it through All State. You can qualify for this through your bank, credit union, job, insurance. Taking into account the $500 and the sign and drive, I see this car as ~$640 with the usual first mo + DMV.

Here's how I go into negotiating leases: I research what a decent, fairly easily obtainable discount is on the exact car. I look up the incentives, MF, residual and fees and calculate the payment. I go in to the dealer and ask for this monthly payment, first month+DMV at signing for my term and mileage requirement on the exact car I want and tell them take it or leave it. It may take a while to get one that bites, but that also reassures me that I am asking for a good deal. I know all the leasing gurus say not to negotiate on payment, but I see nothing wrong with it as long as you've done the homework. It saves time for the both the buyer and the sales guy. Nothing irritates sales guys more than a buyer asking for line by line calculation.

Frankly, I don't care if the salesman is irritated by what I want. I tied up the salesman and the sales manager with the calcs for my Jetta lease. It's a business transaction, and I'm not paying them by the hour.

    Thanks.

Hah, I don't disagree with you. No one is forcing them to be there and I don't care about their feelings either. My thinking on not irritating or wasting their time is that the more time you take up by trying to cut the fat, the more it is cutting into their commission and lessening their opportunity of being on the floor to grab another potential sale. So they start seeing you as an unprofitable pain. If the buyer then comes in on a later day this in turn makes them less willing to get the sale. So it becomes harder to get a deal. It is just a waste of my time as a buyer too. My goal is to spend as little time as possible getting the deal and closing. I never go back and forth. I throw them the number and tell them I'm walking out if its not a go and I'm signing today if it is. If I know exactly how much I should be paying up front and monthly based on accurate numbers that I thoroughly researched beforehand I don't care whether they are marking up the MF or adding a BS fee. That markup has to be made up by discounting elsewhere if they're to meet my number. I get spending time going line by line if one did not thoroughly run the number beforehand or if you're the type to spend an indefinite amount of time to get the absolute best deal possible. I ran my numbers based on Chrysler Capital numbers, and if my dealer made some extra money by going with US Bank, good for them. Doesn't matter to me if I got the number I was looking based on my calculations.

Sorry for getting off topic there.

$680 with 0 at signing on a $56k car isn't too great, but still quite a bit less than similarly spec'd competitors

The real bargains are on the Limited trim examples.

@Node If your research leads you to an acceptable monthly payment, then there is nothing wrong with negotiating that way. Of course, I always give them an opportunity to quote prices, first. You never know if you can come in lower.

Looking for MF and RV for 2018 GC Laredo 4x4 in CO 12k/36, 15k/36, 12k/39 and 15k/39. Do these RV's and MF's change for Altitude and Limited 4x4's?
