Hello, first timer here.  I am shopping around for BMW X3 m40i, how is the offer below (from one of the dealers in CT):
    1. MSRP: $62,745
    2. Sale price: 58,500
    3. Conquest incentive: $1,000
    4. New sale price: $57,500
    5. MF: .00166
    6. Residual: 58% ($36,392.10)
    7. Lease price: $799 per month (36 months /12k year)
    8. $2,546.80 due at signing (1st month's payment, bank fee of $925, registration of $198, dealer fee $499, and sales tax of $125.09)

I asked the dealer re: MF and residual and he said this is set by BMW and can’t be changed.

Sny thiughts snd anyone else have worked with another dealer that has better prices in the TEI-state area?

    Thank you.

    36/12, right?
That is the correct MF and residual

I get $742/mo.+tax, so that looks about right.
You are about 6.7% off MSRP. We usually recommend 7%, so that's pretty close.
The only way to get lower, is with a lower selling price. Not sure how much room you have.
Every $1000 lower knocks about $30/mo. off the payment.

Thank you, the $799 does include tax.  I do have a OL ($1,000) code as well as corporate sales program (which I think knocks another $500), if I also apply for 3 year Bmw CCA membership I read that gives another $500 (does that work as a rebate / cash back or included in the sale price?) and can I stack all of these?

    What is OL code?

Corporate and CCA incentives should stack on the existing lease incentives

You cannot stack corporate/fleet and cca. Please see the following per the rebate form...

    INELIGIBLE VEHICLES/PROGRAMS
    • New, non-registered vehicles in excess of 1,000 miles including company vehicles, retail demos or loaner vehicles. 3rd party brokers, lease companies, etc. do not qualify.
    • Already active Pre-owned vehicles not re-enrolled in the CPO Program.
    • USAA, Military, Diplomatic and Corporate Fleet vehicles do not qualify.
    • MINI Models and Active E models are not included.

Here is what I see on BMW lease incentives by area code. https://www.bmwusa.com/special-offers.html. It seems like $1,000 applied to lease.

Are they actually incentives, or just the dealer discount from MSRP?

I’m getting a dealer discount on the x3 of roughly 10% plus 2.5k in incentives.

I’m not sure how they came up with the X5 price.

Would it it be worth taking the X5 since it has the deeper discount?

    MrDaniel,

What incentives are being applied to the X3 M40i? I know there is a dealer BMW loyalty for 1500 but don't know of another 1K incentives for the X4 M40i. Thanks!

    Good evening

My first time leasing, instead of financing. I build X3 30i at $58k. What would be the payments 12k/36m ? No down payment just fees and taxes I would pay upfront. Thank you. Im in NY.

I just did build online, i want to be prepare.

I guess how much discount should i aim for without incentives? If i aim for $50k plus tax is that reasonable deal?

For BMW, we recommend a target of 7% off MSRP - anything more, and you are doing really well.

What is the amount due at signing?

I wouldn't buy wear and tear insurance.
$2,499 including all fees and first month's payment. Assuming wear and tear is necessary for us, how does this deal seem? Didn't realize MSD's were back in play until now as we just turned in a 320 lease with MSD's.. =\

MSDs can be rolled over, if you had them on your previous lease.

However, only 5 are now allowed, each of which reduce the MF by .00005 (net MF of .00141)

How hard are you on your cars that you're willing to add $40/mo to your lease payment?

MSDs can be rolled over, if you had them on your previous lease. However, only 5 are now allowed, each of which reduce the MF by .00005 (net MF of .00141) How hard are you on your cars that you're willing to add $40/mo to your lease payment?
Would’ve paid the new MSD to collect some extra cc points, but nice to know it’s at 5 max, thanks.

I’d say the tire return coverage part of it is worth about $600 and the rest for more peace of mind.

    Good evening

My first time leasing, instead of financing. I build X3 30i at $58k. What would be the payments 12k/36m ? No down payment just fees and taxes I would pay upfront. Thank you. Im in NY.
.00166 MF and 58% residual What selling price are you negotiating?
I just did build online, i want to be prepare.

I guess how much discount should i aim for without incentives? If i aim for $50k plus tax is that reasonable deal?
For BMW, we recommend a target of 7% off MSRP - anything more, and you are doing really well.
    Thank you. This helps

With the prices provided, I get a payment of $558/mo plus tax.

Ask the dealer what cap cost they are using for their payment quotes.

    What state and tax rate?

Last, we do not recommend using trade equity to buy down your lease. Have the dealer give you a check for the equity.

Thanks. The quote was without the $6,500 trade in. (Just an additional part of the deal).

How did you get $558? Was that factoring in the trade in to buy down the lease or running it at $0 down?

I just used the prices provided, and did not assume any down payment.

The cap cost is likely higher than the selling price - you need to find out what that number is, and what was added to the selling price to get there.

They said the cap cost that they are using is 45,687.00. In Florida btw. Thanks again for the help. I just ran it though a online lease calculator and I got the same number that you did.

Any idea why there such a drastic difference between the two? Your number of $589 (with tax in) and theirs of $737?

Only the dealer can answer that - both standard and egregious fees, most likely. Ask them for a breakdown of the delta of the selling price and the cap cost.

    Looking at a 2018 X3 Drive in Atlanta 30032.

Negotiating with base MF of 0.00166 and 59% residual on a 36 mo/12k mile term.

    MSRP $45,495
    Discount-$4500
    Sell Price-$40,995
    Rebate-$2500 ($1500 loyalty + $1000 summer test drive rebate)
    Cap Cost Red: $0

    Monthly Payment-$504 a moth

    Due at signing-$1292.79

    GA TAVT-$48.79
    Tag/Title-$144
    Doc Fee-$599
    1st Payment-$504

Acq fee is $925. Not marked up.

I am trying to get to $450 a month, same drive off essentially. What do you guys think? Achievable? I am asking for additional $1000 off. Not sure if they will cough up additional discount.

Other things I can think of to help is the BMWCA $500 rebate..also seeing if there is a AMEX rebate eligible at this dealer. Not sure if BMW dealers participate in AMEX rebate programs.

Any other thoughts? Tools I can use to get a higher residual 59-60% or higher with out going to 10k miles? Should I look at shorter 24 month term? Should I be looking at any add ons that add to residual? Do S drives in Atlanta residualize higher than x drives? Do I look at adding any features that can help to that end?

If anyone has any ideas of how I can achieve this outside of getting dealer to cough up additional discount, I am all ears.

What dealer in FL is this? You have to push for more off the sales price. You won’t get them to move off their stupid fees, because FL. If you’d like to explore another avenue in FL, shoot me a message. I don’t work with a dealer, but I can put you in contact with someone who has always given me a good deal.

By the way, the selling price you mentioned (which if you take a look at the sheet they gave you is not the same number you initially provided us to critique your deal!) initially (which is where the numbers start.. $45,687) is far from where they ended up ($49,068) for the sake of calculating your monthly payment.. it increased by $3,381 which is why their monthly payment is drastically different. This dealer is taking you for a ride!

For the sake of comparison... I just ordered a M40i with an MSRP of $68,020 and I plan on paying $799/month. I am giving some money up front to get the payment there, but that’s because I want the monthly under $800 and I just added a trailer hitch to the build which jumped the monthly up, so I figure I’ll give the cost of the hitch up front to get it back down to $799 and call it a day. In addition, I’m factoring in $2,000 worth of rebates.

What is the cap cost associated with that $504/mo quote.

To get to $450/mo, you'll have to knock about $2000 off whatever the cap cost is. Since you're already getting more than 10% off sticker, you may not have much room to move.

Can I interest you in an X1?

As an FYI, I just completed the following deal for a new 2018 BMW X3 xDrive30i from Southern Calif (I live in the Bay Area).

    MSRP: $52,245
    Sale price $47,020 (10% off)
    Incentives: $2000 (Loyalty and fleet)
    Net: $45,020
MF: .00131 (I rolled over my existing MSDs to buy down the rate by .00035)
    36/12 pre-tax Monthly: $502
Post tax monthly: $555 (8.25% tax).
I will also join BMWCCA for a 3-year membership ($137) to get an additional $500 rebate.

This was a no-haggle price - SoCal is a great place to buy cars (I've done that for my last three BMW's, paying $450-500 to ship up to the Bay Area). That's an effective $13/month extra cost that is well worth it.

Accessories like that trailer hitch are not residualized, so you're paying that $800 over the 36 months, plus interest.

Why put money down on a lease to get to a specific payment? It doesn't change the total cost of the lease, it just fools you into thinking you have a lower payment.

And, that up front money would be lost if the car is stolen or totaled.

If the X3 is under 4500K in demo miles.
How much do you take off the selling price?
How much do you take off the residual?

We suggest you target a price that is 12-15% off MSRP

Deduct .25 per mile from the residual for each mile.

I attended a BMW Driving Event "sponsored" by a local dealership but it was definitely a corporate deal. There was a rebate involved that goes to the "dealership" that recruited me. Does the rebate get paid out by corporate to the dealer or does it come out of the "dealer pocket" and is not a "real rebate"?

The trailer hitch when added to a custom order is residualized. It’s not an accessory at that point, but rather an option and figured into the deal.

Furthermore, I know not to put money down on a lease, but in this case I’m doing it for a reason. My wife and I agreed that the monthly payment can’t exceed $800/month and I had already neigoiated the deal without the trailer hitch figured into the build, but the car hasn’t gone into production yet and I decided to add the hitch to save myself a headache later and to have it residualized. So since the hitch caused the monthly to go over $800, I’m just paying the monthly down up front. It’s only a few hundred to make my wife happy every month... whatever. ;)

My BMW dealer told me they could not lease loaners, could only do owners choice arrangements. Is that true? My friend just did a straight lease on a Mercedes loaner. Is this just a Georgia thing?
