    @inputusername

    $2199 due at signing =
    $209 1st payment
    +$595 acquisition fee
    + $1395 down payment

    $18794 + $1395 = $20,189 selling price
$21845 MSRP - $20,189 selling price = $1656 dealer discount (this is inclusive of the $1200 incentive)

    .00105 MF and 57% residual
    $208.98/mo.

Since the dealer is only discounting $456, in addition to the incentive, you can see how they'd have some more room to come down, and beat the advertised deal.

Hi. My name is Calvin, Located in Brooklyn NY.
I'm new to car purchasing/leasing and am interesting in leasing a 2018 Honda Civic EX Hatchback.
I got a quote for 20,600 and talked it down with a dealership to 20,400.

I would ultimately like to lease but didn't tell any of the dealerships i'm speaking to yet.
I know the new year model is coming out and would like to get the lowest price possible.
I tell them the price and they ask which dealership gave you this quote, one even asked for me to email them the eQuote.

How should I proceed? And kind of incentives available?
Also are incentives included in the quote price?

    My Zip code is 11204.
And I just got a quote over text for $19,629 - not sure how accurate and legitimate this is from Honda of Freehold, NJ.
Some of the other dealerships are asking for proof of quote.

    thank you!

Honda dealers can't markup the acquisition fee ($595).
CA dealer doc fee is $80 (max)
CA DMV fees should be around $250-$275.

Monthly payment is taxed at your local rate.

I get $258/mo.+tax using your numbers, assuming all other charges are paid upfront.

Can anyone tell me if this is a good deal on a 2018 Civic EX Sedan in California? I suspect it is an alright deal but would like to hear other opinions:

    "Selling" price: 19210
Lease terms: 2000 down with $240/24 months
    MF: .00105
    Residual (63% of MSRP): 14008

Why put $2000 up front on a lease? We recommend just first payment and DMV costs - around $500 total, roughly.

Only 3 options were given to me, down payments of 2k, 3k, or 4k. Didn't realize 0 down payment was an option! To be honest, I intended to purchase for $19900, but the $19210 lured me in, especially since I will need to get rid of the car in 2 years and the tax savings looked appealing.

Thanks Michaell. Probably somewhat of a newbie question but what exactly is lease cash? Also, a Civic SI with MSRP of 24,995 and selling price of $23,943. The lease payment before tax is coming out to $255. Does that make sense? Please note I didnt include lease cash in my calc.

Once you amortize the extra money upfront, that's about $315/mo. for your lease payment.
    That's not cheap.

With the good resale you get from a Civic, I'd just buy it.

In this case, the lease cash is a Honda-to-dealer incentive, so it should be reflected in a lower selling price.

    $255/mo for what term/mileage?
What is the amount due at signing?

The dealership offer is $2499 down (covers taxes, acquisition fee, doc fee, first month payment and tag fee) with payment at 277 at 36/12. The 255 number was my own calc based on lease payment only. Car price is 23,282.

Let me know your thoughts .Thanks for the input.

$23282 appears to be the adjusted CAP cost.

Let's look at the $2499 upfront
    $277 1st payment
    $595 acq.fee
    $200 DMV fees
    $740 tax
    That's $1812.

$687 more to account for: Big dealer/doc fee? CAP cost reduction?

Considering the $1000 lease cash, $23282 doesn't seem all that great. It's only $713 of extra discount, once you take into account the incentive.

I think you can do better than this.

I just got this 36 month lease offer that I can't make any sense of.
    Trim: Civic Hatchback Sport M/T
    MSRP: $22,645
    Negotiated Price: $20,476
    Doc Fee: $80
    Taxes: $1,799
    Lic&Fees: $334.75
MF: Tier 1 (unsure of MF)
    RV: ???
    Lease Cash: ???

    Monthly Cost (tax included): $310.59 ($1K down), $280.91 ($2k down), $251.23 ($3k down), $221.55 ($4k down)

Here are the monthly's I got doing my own lease calculation using the following
    RV: 58%
    MF:0.0105
    Sales Tax: 7.75%
    Lease Cash: $800
    Acquisition Fee: $595
    Other Fees: Same as above

    Monthly (tax included): $254 ($0 down), $220 ($1k down), $189 ($2k down), $158 ($3k down), and $127 ($4k down)

Can someone help me figure out how this dealership came to these monthly payments for a 2018 Honda Civic Sedan EX CVT lease in SoCal?

    $22,130 MSRP
    $19,599 Sell Price (11% discount)
    .00105 Money Factor
57% Residual Value for 3/12k Lease
    $1000 Lease Cash
    $883.75 Non-tax fee ($595 Acquisition Fee + $288.75 DMV Fees)

    $0 down - $290/month
    $1,500 down - $244/month
    $2,500 down - $214/month

(All of these don't include doc fee, tax, non-tax fee, and first month payment, which are out of pocket at signing)

Am I doing my math wrong, or are these monthly payments way high? Needless to say, I did not accept the offer.

    1) Your quote is a purchase quote (other than the lease payment). The tax number is for a purchase. Also, no mention of the $595 acquisition fee.

    2) The lease cash is a Honda-to-dealer incentive. You won't be able to deduct that from any offered price, though it isn't clear if their selling price is for purchase or lease.

So, try it again, adding the $595 fee, and ignoring the lease cash.
Or, just ask the dealer for the adjusted CAP.
Or... find another dealer. $1000 upfront + $310/mo. would be a terrible deal for a $23K MSRP vehicle.

Any lease changes for the '18 Civic Si Sedan w/manual transmission in zip 60645 for 24/12 & 36/12? What is the lease sweet-spot for this model?

Also, are there any special financing promotions?

    Thanks!

    Hello!

May I please get the latest MF, residual (and any other incentives) for a 2018 Civic Sedan EX-L, CVT with Navigation, 10/36 (if they offer it in my area; 11795) and 12/36?

Also, would you happen to know when the 2019 Civic’s will arrive in dealerships?

    Thanks in advance.

Is there any reason why a sales manager would refuse to disclose the itemized/adjusted CAP cost to a potential lessee over email?

Three times now with different dealerships I've been given all information (MSRP, selling price, MF, RV, Incentives) but when I ask for the CAP cost, all of three of them have either given an excuse, deflected by trying to get me on the phone or come in-person, or go total radio-silence.

    Am I not understanding something?

Some dealers are still stuck in the 80's. If they give you that critical piece of data, then you can start shopping deals around.

If you're ready to pull the trigger, go into the dealer and make an aggressive offer on the sales price. When they give you a payment, that's the time to ask for the CAP cost, and a full breakdown of how they got there from the selling price.

Okay, that makes sense, and that's what I'll do. Thanks a lot for taking the time to respond, Michaell. I really appreciate the help!

I just got this 36 month lease offer that I can't make any sense of.
    Trim: Civic Hatchback Sport M/T
    MSRP: $22,645
    Negotiated Price: $20,476
    Doc Fee: $80
    Taxes: $1,799
    Lic&Fees: $334.75
MF: Tier 1 (unsure of MF)
    RV: ???
    Lease Cash: ???

    Monthly Cost (tax included): $310.59 ($1K down), $280.91 ($2k down), $251.23 ($3k down), $221.55 ($4k down)

Here are the monthly's I got doing my own lease calculation using the following
    RV: 58%
    MF:0.0105
    Sales Tax: 7.75%
    Lease Cash: $800
    Acquisition Fee: $595
    Other Fees: Same as above

    Monthly (tax included): $254 ($0 down), $220 ($1k down), $189 ($2k down), $158 ($3k down), and $127 ($4k down)

I haven't been able to get the details (i.e., RV, MF, etc...) from the salesperson so it's been hard to figure things out. Thank you on the note regarding the lease cash. Yes, the numbers they put together is looking not the best.
