What do you think of the insight? I got a quote for 25.1 out the door. I don't have a breakdown yet tho

To be blunt, it does not matter what we think. If you like the car after test driving it, then that's all that matters. From Honda's website, the MSRP for the base LX model is $23,725. The most expensive trim (Touring model) has an MSRP of $28,985.

As @jerseydevil01 stated, it is a new model so pricing may not be as aggressive as other established Honda models. At the end of the day, you just have to do your research and set the right expectations when it comes to pricing.

    Good luck.

    Hi everyone -

I planning to lease Hionda Accord Sport 1.5 -

I have question on getting Tire and wheel warranty , it is worth it ? Sales agent told me that it will cost about 600$ but i believe there is a room for negotiation.

my concern is sport has bigger rim and low profile tire and i live in NY/NJ area ; million of potholes...

how much Tire and wheel warranty should be from Honda?
and does any know what it covers ?
Can i buy Tire and wheel warranty outside , non-Honda ?

    Thanks in advance

I would keep that money in your pocket. Only the dealer benefits from selling that to you.

Hi: new to this forum and very helpful info from many experience buyers. Where can I find the invoice price of a Honda? Looking for an EX ...does anyone has any info on the price they paid for it? I am in S FL.
Also does nitrogen in tires help in any way?

    Thank you

invoice (need to add the destination of 895 to the posted #'s to get total invoice price)
    https://www.autobytel.com/honda/accord/2018/ex-(cvt)/

unless you are racing, nitrogen is not worth paying for (air is 78% nitrogen)

FL is a tough market (high doc fees for no apparent reason)

Thanks Tonyg2016 ..sorry one more Q: someone mentioned in the forum - Trade-In Bonus (Must Qualify) Does it mean that if I had a trade in ..I can qualify for additional bonus? I never heard of it before ..

    Thanks

    @vin1975
I am also in S FL and trust me it is definitely hard to get a deal, I've spoken with 15+ dealers and they would not budge on their dealer fee. For the EX best deal I was able to try and get is 26,900 OTD. I did not buy it and no other dealer would match. In general that dealer was a bit shady. Good luck!

Read my previous posts in here

In other news I went and bought the Insight EX

$24,700 OTD @3.4% (apparently best APR for Insight atm)

I've been emailing Phx area Honda dealerships and here is what I received from Arrowhead Honda:

2018 Honda EX sedan. No extras.

    dealer price $22,999
    Doc fee: 409
    Title/Reg: 466
    Sales tax: 1,863

    Out the door $25,736

The price seems suspiciously low as I think they must have some "add-ons" that they will surprise me with.

The folks at Autonation were higher ($28,297.21) and included a $499 ceramic window tint charge.

Can some car buying veterans let me know what they think.
    Thank you.

Thier price is 3026 below invoice (26025) for the EX 1.5T and does seem low. check with the dealer to see if the dealer price includes the 890 doc fee and is usually in the price of the car and check that the price quoted does not include the 500 military discount and the 500 college grad discount that you may not qualify for. Also ask if there are any dealer or factory add ons not included just to be sure of a real out the door price

If you compare 2017 model forum, doesn't this seem correct? It's almost end of the season before 2019 comes out. So they would start lowering the prices now?

2017 was the old body style, and the last year for it.. Not exactly apples-to-apples.

    Accord?
maybe they don't know what an out-the-door price means? Usually it means all inclusive - tax, tags and fees.
tell them you will buy it for 25736 and see what happens

fwiw, the real sell price = 23408 (gotta include doc fee) and is quite low compared to msrp
is it a loaner with miles on it?
    maybe it's a Civic!

Thanks Jersey. What is your take on the $499 ceramic window tint charge from the other dealer ? I've bought a couple cars in the Phoenix area over the years and this is a new one. I'm pretty sure I can get a window tinting job for much less.

Thanks for other suggestions. I should also be hearing back from other dealers on Monday. I will follow up with my follow up questions back to the dealers. Please feel free to add in any helpful tips and suggestions.

    And yes, Honda Accord EX

I have the ceramic tint on my X-5's 2 front windows. Cost $100. They claim the Ceramic tint helps block the UV rays better , is a better quality tint . I find that when it rains and especially at night windows look to glassy. I actual like the regular tint better. My Genesis has the regular window Tint on ft. windows that I like better.

Ceramic tint is better in a number of ways. It should mainly be used as a heat mitigation to you. It does work and around here for good ones it costs 270+ depending on brand. They are usually 2ply tint which may be the reason of the glass look.

My tint shop in PA wanted $120 for the 3m ceramic. (2 windows) I did not like the look or color of tint when sunlight hit film. I went with the regular 30% Tint on my car.

I'm trying to choose between a Camry hybrid and an Accord hybrid. I like them both, but the MSRP confuses me (all info for the base trim and is from a brief google search):

    Accord LX: $23570; Accord hybrid: $25100, difference = $1530
    Camry LE: $23495; Camry hybrid: $27800, difference = $4305

I was under the impression that hybrid cars are much more expensive than the non-hybrid versions, and most cars, even the Accord hybrid 2017 follows the trend. Why is the price suddenly lower for the 2018 Accord hybrid version? Is there any flaw I didn't see?

    Thanks!

MSRP is the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price. That is number you see on a car window's sticker.

    Here is my advice:
    • Test drive both cars and then decide which one you like best.
    • You can build the hybrid car of your choice, by going to Toyota's or Honda's website.
    • Not sure where you noticed the price was lower on a 2018 Hybrid vs a 2017 model, but that should not matter.
    Hope this info helps.

I think his point is the price spread between gas and hybrid is a lot less for the 2018 Accord vs. 2017.

In 2018 the accord hybrid added more trim levels than 2017 and the least expensive ones are on the level of an LX with less niceties in 2018. I read last year honda was hoping the 2018 hybrid would be 50 mpg or better but actually came in slightly less than the 2017's. In 2015 accord made hybrids and stopped in 2016, made hybrids again in 2017 in japan and in 2018 moved production to Ohio. In my opinion Toyota has much more experience in hybrid technology. I was considering an accord hybrid but went with a regular touring last month, maybe I'll try one in a few years
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,604
So, in summary, the 2018 base Hybrid is de-contented, compared to the 2017 base Hybrid, and therefore, not as big of a spread over the LX gas version?

    Good info, thanks!!

How much you expect to pay for

2018 honda accord ex, no add ons for on-road price in pa ?

Is 26,000 the best offer from my side ? I know doc fee 141, plus tax and tags....

I wanted to get mud guard, all season floor mat and wheel locks and i believe it would be around 200.

New member here. I’m in the market for an Accord in the Southern California area.  Anyone have a particular dealer they would recommend? I saw a few pages back a mention of Riverside Honda for a Sport 2.0.  I’m between the Sport 1.5 and EXL 1.5 in gray or white, since the former has a better exterior look and the latter has the leather — probably leaning to the Sport.

Reading these posts, it seems like the best someone did for the Sport 1.5 was in the 21-22k before taxes and fees. From my research the invoice price is around 23.5k. So would an OTD price of 23-24k in California be a good deal?  I saw a 2.0 Sport posted some pages back in the 26-27k range. Any advice for a strong target price that someone reached would be great!

Sport 1.5 models Invoice = $24,483 which includes the 895 dest fee.

You first need to go to dealerships and test drive and see what model you want to buy, You have to do the leg work First.

This month could net you a lower sale price than last month or the month before. You will be the judge on that answer. I suggest you make a list of dealerships your willing to travel to , follow the advice in this forum , send out emails, make phones calls at the end of the month on pricing for your model. Work on a target price to buy starting @invoice price minus the already best pricing in CA? It could be 2k below your models invoice maybe more.

Post back with exact price finding and model you want to buy. we will point you in the right direction @fahrenheit290

I’m working on a deal for a 2018 Honda Accord Touring. The MSRP is $34,690 and they are offering for $30,794, plus $410 tag/title fee and $799 dealer fee.

I feel the tag is high since it will be a transfer. Should i be able to get a better deal than this? What should i expect the discount to be from others experience?

    Thank you.

I think i made the right decision .. I'm not in rush to buy my car... I have 2003 honda accord running with 228000 milage on it ...

now i feel that if i wait till end of the month, i can get good deal.. i can possibly wait till year end as well...

Does anyone have idea on what would be great price for 2018 honda accord ex with mudguard, all season floor mat and wheel lock ? no grad discount, no military discount and i can take loan outside after purchaing vehicle ?

I'm readin other people's note and it sounds like 2018 EX , if you can get it for 24700 OTD then it would be good price.

I can’t answer your question about the car price because I bought the hybrid EXL instead. However, for what it worth, I bought mudguard for $35, wheel locks $22, cargo tray $55, all honda parts for 2018 Accord, then I bought Husky  weatherbeater for $130 which I highly recommend instead of the honda all weather floor mat. All installations are very easy. Last, I also recommend Weathertech Techshade $50, pricey but worth it.

How much you expect to pay for 2018 honda accord ex, no add ons for on-road price in pa ? Is 26,000 the best offer from my side ? I know doc fee 141, plus tax and tags.... I wanted to get mud guard, all season floor mat and wheel locks and i believe it would be around 200.

I'm also looking for the same car and I'm in PA as well. Last month, the best I got was $26750 OTD.

I am waiting on $25000 OTD
I luckily turned down 27000 ... I definitely feel like that once with knowledge you can get up to 25000 range with some work ...... I'll try last day of the month... this is what i have from open road honda in nj... not sure what would be otd price..

Thanks for the post!  I have test driven the car and done some research.  I’m 90% leaning toward the sport unless someone convinces me otherwise on an EX-L with a great price. But obviously don’t want to muddy the negotiating process.

I emailed the superstore at Cerritos and was quoted $24,300 for the sport 1.5 with delivery included.  Not including taxes.  TrueCar got me $24,050 for Pasadena.  Should I aim 2k below that at $22,300 per your last message?  Also how would you suggest taking that next step to get them down to that range, which some people mentioned they got in SoCal (and one person claimed $21,100 but in another state)?  Time to cast the net wide with emails to many dealers with the 24.05-24.3k before taxes and see if they can beat that?  Also trying to get a sense of what is great deal/best possible for Cali so I can work toward that.  Thanks!

    Thank you.

I bought a touring 1.5 last month in NJ for $29500 with all addons like propack at no additional cost. It helped that honda was offering a $1000 discount on the touring 1.5 and made the deal on the last day of the month . @kyfdx is the 1000 offer still available on the accord touring 1.5 like last month ? In the last 6 months this group kept saying to make your offers on the last couple days of the month and now I can testify that it does work. In that you are in Fla I have been hearing that they are a hard nut to crack on price but the sales numbers every month this year have been the worst in 4 years so the price may be getting better. Good luck !

Update: I got to 22.4k for the sport 1.5 in SoCal without taxes.  Any sense of whether that’s a good deal or should there still be negotiating room? Thx!

Its a solid deal as is.....

If you want to negotiate further On Monday the 30th of this month email / call another 10 dealerships. Tell each dealer 22k with destination included for the 1.5 sport model gets your business today. If no dealer will beat your 22.4k buy vehicle its a solid deal.

you may be able to make a deal below 22k but only if you try. ......good luck

I'm getting offered around $25,200 sales price for a new Honda Accord EX in the SoCal region. MSRP is around $28,365. Is that a good deal? Also, should I wait until the new 2019 Honda Accord models are released to get a better price for the 2018 models?

That seems to be a good price if it's on the road price... yes, you can wait always for better deal.
