Could be a regional thing.

Or, they are quoting you a lower credit tier MF until they've run your credit.

We've heard that Toyota dealers cannot mark up a promotional MF, only the standard MF of .00225

My current XLE lease is ending soon. I have 4 payments ($449) to go. Went to a dealer in NYC (leased my 2 previous Highlanders with them) and got some offers. First we were looking at a 2017 XLE (they have lots left over), but the deal was pretty crappy.

I assume that they should be able to do much better on the price since I'm sure they want to move those '17 models.

The numbers don't make sense. The MSRP is almost identical and the sale price is the same. One is a 65% residual and the other 59%, and the monthly lease is only $5 less.

Also, my last Highlander lease was not thru TFS, because some local credit union had a better program, so they won't waive the last 3 payments.So I'm basically writing the $1800 into my new lease or $50/month. SCREW THAT. I should really wait. But my front brake pads are down to 1mm, so I will need to change them if I want to keep driving this one for another 4-5 months.

What do you suggest? My thinking is to wait. Writing in remaining paymnets into new lease is stupid. It's paying for nothing.

In the Southeastern states the residual and money factors are different than the rest of the country. I looked into a highlander XLE AWD in December. I have a connection and was able to get the above numbers. Great residual, but very high money factor. When I did numbers rough numbers on a vehicle I thought the payment was too high. The great residual could not offset the high money factor.

SETF has a different method of calculating the residual, where a lot of the options are not residualized. This makes the effective residual much less than the percentage number would indicate. Their numbers are not very transparent.

TFS used to use the same method, but stopped about 4-5 years ago.
