The MFR lease its $389/mo $2999 due. The net cap is $32k on a $39k sticker. Total payments is $14k with an option to buy for $19.9 k at the end. I mean even if you add the lease + purchase it's still getting an AWD V6 for $33k . That's cheaper than you could negotiate now?

While we wait for the moderators to give their answers, I'll add that you are right that it's less expensive to lease a TLX than to buy it. It's a really good car imho. I'm leasing a 2018 TLX 2.4 Tech, and so far I really like it. Acura leases on the TLX are a good value, and right now I'm thinking of buying it when the lease is up. I did better than the official lease offer, but I didn't really need a car and was willing to walk away.

    Tech V6 AWD
    .00093 and 50% residual
    $4925 incentive

Only $1000 of that incentive is good for a purchase.
    So, you are gaining $3925 - $595 = $3330 by leasing.
The money factor is pretty low, so financing for the first 36 months is cheap, too.

Of course, when you buy it out, you'll either pay cash or borrow money at used car rates.
Not sure how Kansas handles sales tax on a lease. That can affect the calculations, as well.

So if I do lease, and do plan to buyout at the end. In theory, would it matter whether I did a 36/12, 36/10, etc?

    In theory, no...

But, by taking the allowance you need, you maintain your "option" of walking away, with no further cost. You wouldn't want your decision on whether to buyout being made because of a penalty, if you'd rather walk away.

    That makes sense.

So if I want to take the AWD V6 Base or Tech, what figure should/ need to negotiate to make the monthly payment lower?

It looks like the MF is pretty low and prob not worth haggling over. Is the RV a % that can be haggled? Or is the main focus of getting a lower monthly payment sales price & net cap cost?

My end goal is to get an AWD V6 Tech for under $350 a month. But I don't want to put $5k down just to get there. And I know dealers can move and hide figures to get to there but I want as much exposure and to be able to calculate.

I wish more people posted their lease deals and what their purchase prices, MF, RV % and net cap cost were.

So after looking up TrueCar and Edmunds I'm going to present this.

    AWD V6 Tech MSRP $43,095

Market average shows sale price of $38.5k in my area. $38,500 - $4925 incentive - $1500 lease cash= $32,075. No Money down, Fee, reg, acquisition, first payment and Sales tax paid up front. Total about $4k given KS 9% sales tax.

For me lease payment shows $326 + $4k up front. Is this good if I can get it?

I'd be wary of the prices you've been given - often, they includes incentives that are valid for a purchase only, and will disappear when you tell the dealer you're leasing.

But, you're on the right track - negotiate your best price, then subtract the incentives (the $1500, BTW, is "flex cash" and may not be available from every dealer).

Does KS collect sales tax on a lease up front? Wasn't aware of that.

Our suggestion is to run the numbers with only the first payment and any registration costs due at signing - limits your exposure to loss if the car is stolen or totaled during the lease.

And, not sure you'll get to $350/mo on the TLX Tech. But, if you do, I might have you drive west to CO and negotiate my next lease!

New to this site, and thank you to those who provide their insights and expertise.

    Im looking to get a 2019 A-spec AWD v6

first, dealer quoted me $498 with $2500 up front. Is that a good deal?

i was hoping to be more like $450 with maybe just first months payment upfront.

with these current incentives, which deal sounds more likely or how could I get to where I want to be?

    What ZIP code?
What lease term and how many miles per year?

We'll need the MSRP and selling price to help model a payment.

I don’t unfortunately, we only got to the basic back and forth, speak to the manager and he’ll offer you this “special deal just for you” stage. Didn’t get to any paper work.

I do see truecar has them going for about $38880 in this area, so I don’t know how much room I had to negotiate.

Ask the dealer for that number - better yet, ask them for the "adjusted CAP cost", which is the selling price plus any taxes and fees you aren't paying up front.

Roll the taxes into your payment. The Acquisition Fee too.

$599 dealer fee? That's steep. "It is pre-printed on every invoice. We must charge it to everybody."

Look up the dealer invoice here on edmunds. Subtract the $4,925 leasing incentive. Subtract the $599 dealer fee. This should be the highest selling price you should pay.

Yeah. Welcome to KS where there is no cap on dealer fee. That's why I am asking in STL, MO. MO dealer fee is capped at $199.

Good for you. I live in CT, right on the NY border. NY caps their doc fees at $75. They aren't capped in CT. Just make sure you add up the total cost of the lease. The KS dealer might have a higher DOC fee, but a lower selling price to offset the DOC fee. The MO dealer might have a low doc fee, but higher selling price.

It's nice they used the flex cash on your deal, but it looks like they only gave you about a $1400 discount, outside of the incentives.

Basically they showed me the “invoice” and are giving me that of like 41.2 I believe. Before al incentives and flex cash. I want a sale price of $38-39 before all incentives

I don't think there is $4K-$5K of room, before incentives, but $2000-$3000 should be easily achieved.

I’m going to shoot for $33.4k adjusted cap. Which puts sales price at $39k before incentives

Is the $4925 incentive and $1500 flex cash money the dealer is losing or is it from the manufacturer?

Just eondering so so I have info heading into a $39k price before money back.

How does this look -AWD Tech 36/12

    $43,095 msrp

    38625 sale price - $4925 - $1500 + 699 admin and $595

    $33,500 net cap.

Sales tax is 9.65% of the lease (adjusted cap - RV)

    $400 payment taxes included.

    This look good?

Paying first payment  and dealer fee at signing.

Follow up. If I pay the dealer fee up front would that reduce the $33.5 by $699 to make it $32,801?

So for lease payment $32,795-$21547 = $11,248 /36 = $312 per month for cost of lease.

    for cost to finance $32795 + 21547 * 0.00093 = $51 per month.

    Tax is 11248 * 0.0965 (tax rate) = $1085/36 = $30

Am I correct at $393? Or is the dealer fee still calculated into the cap even though I’m paying it at signing?

Just to see, what’s the RV on the AWD tech V6 for 36/10? Does incentive money change for 35/10 vs 36/12

Signed a 2019 V6 A-Spec FWD last night, big thanks to Michaell and all the mods on here. Maybe could have gotten a few more dollars off but overall I'm really happy with it I think:

    2019 V6 / FWD / A-Spec
    10/36
    MSRP: $43,795
Sale price: $38,814 - $2000 (dealer rebate) - $615 (cap reduction out of pocket)
    Adjusted cap - $36,199
    (Residual of $23,211.35)

$2500 total due at signing, $449 a month with tax (7.75%)

    Done I’m signing Monday.

    19 AWD Tech.

    $38,625 price - $6425 incentive and cash = $32,200. + $699 fee + 640 acquisition and reg fee.

Payment with taxes (9.65%) is $399/mo on a 36/12k. $0 due at signing.

    Remote start added in.

    Thoughts?

Hmm, I get $421/mo with those numbers.

I'd confirm the adjusted cap cost they are using for their payment quote.

You’re right I got mixed up. It’s $418 with $0 due or $399 if I pay the dealer fee at signing.

Its late and and I can’t read.

Is eothee way way a good buy or is there better?
  • Drzoidberg44Drzoidberg44 Member Posts: 83
Also, I'm getting $14k for my trade, which is $1k higher than the other place.

Should I pay the $699 fee at signing or just roll into lease ? $399 vs $418 is negligible.

    Will do.

From what I've seen here and everywhere else it seems like a solid deal. It's about $4k off from msrp + incentives.

I think I might pull the trigger on a TLX within the next couple of days.

I'd like to know what the residual value, money factor, and any incentives for 12k miles/36 months in 90703 for:

    2019 Acura TLX inline-4 - FWD w/ A-Spec and Technology Package

    2019 Acura TLX V6 - FWD w/ A-Spec and Technology Package
