I got the following X3 deal. Can anyone tell me if its good?
MSRP 44,685 Gross Capitalized Cost 41,509.89 Capital Cost Reduction 3,830 Adjusted Capital Cost 37,679.89 Residual Value 26,364.15 Depreciation and any Amortized Amounts 11,315.74 Rent Charges 3,804 Total of Base Monthly Payment 15,120.00 Total Monthly 420
Upfront Cost was 1500 and Incentives 2750, which he used the capital cost reduction.
I received a below offer for X3 36/10 with 1st month and transfer plate out of pocket. Dealer is quoting me $529 per month. I'm having 2 issues,
1 - how do i confirm the tax on this? I'm in NY but I can't get to the $2k that he provided me. 2 - by using the Edmunds formula I get to pre-tax of 464, add the $2000k tax payment and I get to $519 per month.
Can you guys confirm how much the monthly payment should be? Thanks!
MSRP: 50,885 Sell Price: $45,298 Residual: $29,513.30 (58%) MF: .0011 (after MSD reduction) Rebate: $3500 NY DMV Transfer: $150 (approximate) NY Taxes: $2000.74 BMW Bank Fee: $925 Dealer Doc Fee: $599.85
NY taxes the sum of the monthly payments, the incentives, any money up front and the fees.
What cap cost did you use in your calculations? What cap cost did the dealer use to get their payment? How much money up front are you giving the dealer?
I thought the dealer doc fee was capped at $75 in NY; is this a NY dealer, or one in NJ or CT?
I used $43,323 (selling price + Bank fee + doc fee - rebate). Not sure what he used, i can go back and ask but i would assume it's the same as mine. 0 upfront, only paying 1st month and $150 transfer plates
I'm using a NJ dealer to take advantage of the MSD
It can't be the same, else you'd both get the same payment.
Could be a small bump in the MF, too.
That's not a bad deal, with so little upfront (excluding the MSD monies, of course)
Based on the MF it seems to agree with BMW. I'm doing 7 MSD so that get's me back to 0.00145 if i exclude them. I can't get back to the tax, NY is 0.08875. I get a payment of 464 pre-tax which includes the $3,500 rebate. Tax on monthly payment is $1,482, any idea where he gets the $518 difference?
The rebate is taxable.
Ask the dealer for the adjusted CAP cost. They also have a document that shows how they calculated NY tax.
Once you have the actual numbers, all should become clear.
Went back to get additional details, this what he sent through
MSRP $50885 GRS CAP COST 46823.47 SALES TAX 2000.74 CAP REDUCTN 3500.00 NET CAP COST 45324.21
2. 8.875% of payments, rebate, fees
Can you guys confirm that the numbers work out to $529 per month? Thanks!
If I use 58% as the 36/10 residual, and .00110 as the MF, the MSRP and "net cap cost" provided gives me a payment of $522/mo.

Trying to decide between two offers on the x3 m40i.
One is for a model year 2018 used that was part of the “driving program” for BMW North America. It only has 2 1/2 years left on the warranty but low miles. They are offering about 29% off the original MSRP including discounts and incentives.
The other is for a 2019 new with about 17% off including discounts and incentives.
Thinking purely about what makes financial sense, which would you recommend? I’m thinking about total depreciation over the remaining life of the vehicles, which I’ll probably keep for about five years.

An extra 1.5 years of warranty and a full maintenance plan, plus higher resale, would lead me to the 2019 brand new model.
If the 2018 happens to be CPO, that might change the math a little. How many miles?
It’s about 4500 miles on the used one. Unfortunately not CPO.
Maybe I’m thinking about this the wrong way but I thought since the 2018 is further In It’s depreciation cycle that the future depreciation would be less than the 2019?
In other words I’d own it for years 1.5 to 6.5 vs year 0 to 5 for the 2019. Wouldn’t that mean the highest depreciation hit of year 1 is already passed? Or is that not borne out in the amount of discount I’m getting?

Your actual depreciation may be less, especially with the low miles. But, that is reflected in the sale price already, right? Appears the difference in purchase price is 12% of MSRP, or about $6000. The savings comes from the difference in resale, after five years... If the new one is worth $3000 more at that time, then your depreciation savings is $3000.
For $3000, you give up 18 months of warranty, and an undetermined difference in maintenance costs.
But, that is a lot of assumptions. How much you drive, and how quickly you might come out of warranty make a difference, as well.

Back up a second. If it was used in the UDE as part of a race course experience, I would not go near it. .

Thanks for your advice. It makes sense! The other thing I’m realizing is that now that MY2019 is coming to a close I really should be thinking of any MY2019 cars on the lot as a year old...

Hi, residual question for you guys. If I'm looking to lease a demo or a loaner x3, how do I confirm that the dealer is using the correct residual on 36/10 with 5k miles on it.
Hi, residual question for you guys. If I'm looking to lease a demo or a loaner x3, how do I confirm that the dealer is using the correct residual on 36/10 with 5k miles on it.
The adjustment is based on the miles - .25/mile, deducted from the calculated residual.
Is it 5000 or more miles, or 4999 or less? If >5000 miles, also subtract 7% from the published residual, in addition to the per mile charge. And, no incentives are available.
All of which add up to finding a unit with <4999 miles on it.
Can someone please let me know if this X3 Quote a good deal? Thanks!

Hi, I am interested in a loaner vehicle (4.5k miles). and I want to ask what does the price (around 10% of MSRP) on the dealership's website represent?
Can I will negotiate for cheaper? Say if I am getting 10% of MSRP on a NEW car from the same dealer, would that make sense to ask for additional 10% off the loaner's already reduced price?
This is the vehicle i am interested MSRP $50,745 Savings $5,315 Your Price $45,430 <- Does it make sense if I ask for at least 10% off this price?</b>

For a loaner, target 15-18% off MSRP, before applying the incentives
Another word of advice. As the EOP date approaches within the next week or two, you will start to see the inventory dwindling at dealers. I learned my lesson in late July of 2018 when my lease was up on my 5 series. I couldn't find a 2018 with the exact equipment I wanted within 100 miles. The lease was up on July 31st and I returned my car. Luckily my dealer found a 2019 at the port with the quipment that I wanted for the same amout as a 2018 model.
My wife's lease on her X3 is up at the end of next month. Again, I started looking about a month ago and discovered to my suprise that many dealers inventory had the same equipment, give or take an option or two.
We have the surrond view camera on the 2017 X3 and we wanted it in the new X3. We find that the surrond view eliminates hitting a curb when parking. We also wanted the CP, PP, EP & driving assistance package with blind spot detection. While the dealers still have large inventories, these options are hard to find. Luckily my dealer had some 2019 allocations left and we were able to build a 2019 model. It will probably be one of the last 2019s produced. According to the BWM website today, the status on our X3 states: "Today's the day: your BMW has entered the production queue."
The 2019 X3s have a great program now, there is a ton of truck money to the dealers. If you wait until next month to see if there is a better program, you risk having to select from a dwindling inventory if you want certain optons. Just my two cents.
BTW, for those waiting for the 2020s, it is my understanding that Live Cockpit Pro will be available with some of the packages.
I am interested in leasing a 2019 BMW X3 M40i, zip 92253. MSRP = $66,595 When negotiating the sale price what is the usual % off of the MSRP before applying the incentives?

When you lookup incentives and MF, is it by the zipcode you plan on purchasing the vehicle from or the zipcode you plan on registering the vehicle?
Either case
BMW X3 sDrive30i for 36/10 in zip 30339 (purchasing vehicle from)?
BMW X3 sDrive301 for 36/10 in zip 29708 (registering vehicle)?
