Gotcha, thanks for clearing that up. There was no dealer fee in the quote they sent me - not sure if they will try to add it on once we actually sit down though.

That dealer expects $1000 in trade equity and $2500 from your pocket?

I'd ask them to rewrite the deal with only the $1000 trade equity to cover the first payment and government fees, and see what the payment is then.

Anything else out of pocket would be at risk of loss if the car is stolen or totaled.

Here's pricing a sales manager just sent over to me for a Touring+Premium Package ($27,990 MSRP before destination of $1,045). MF is higher than expected at .00189 vs. .00139 I was expecting (zip 78759). The sales manager said "that's just what the machine spits out". His pricing rolls destination into the MSRP. Says overall this is a good deal and that I'd be hard pressed to find better. I was expecting a monthly payment of $330/mo assuming sales price of $25,750 (before destination, to be paid up front). Thoughts?

Just learned that in Texas we pay for the entire value of the vehicle's taxes up front. But there's something about a dealer credit that I can negotiate (not really sure what that is)? Something about the dealer getting a tax credit from the state when I return the vehicle a portion of which could be shared with me...

Bottom line?

Get a second dealer involved; perhaps that will motivate one of them to sharpen their pencil a bit more.

But, as noted, leasing in TX is going to be more expensive than other states.

The mediocre lease program on the CX-5 doesn't help, and a marked up MF just makes it worse.
