We don't know the Standard MF
Last time we saw it (in May), it was around .00240

64%/69% residual for Sahara/SportS

There may be a 2% deduction for manual transmission. Check with your dealer.

Hello I found the wrangler rubicon I want and currently negotiating terms of purchasing vs leasing. I’m being told the sale price is factored differently for a lease vs purchase. I’m told the sale price is not negotiated on a lease like a purchase and goes straight off of msrp. Am I wrong thinking they either don’t know what they’re talking about or just assuming I don’t understand how to negotiate a lease? Granted this is my first time to lease but everything I’ve read about leasing is to always negotiate the sale price first and then base lease vs purchase off of that.

Dealer is right - and wrong.

Often, there are different incentives for lease vs. purchase, so the final price could be different.

However, there aren't any known incentives for the Wrangler, so the price you negotiate would be the same for either.

If they are stuck on MSRP, find a different dealer.

Ok after talking with them more we did clarify how the numbers were being calculated and it was on the negotiated price, not msrp. These are the figures I'm at so far. Tell me if this sounds about right:
Its a Unlimited Rubicon Recon,
MSRP - 57995
Negotiated Price - 52000

15k miles/year
RV at 36=60
RV at 39=58
RV at 42=57
RV at 48=55

MF at 36=.00205
MF at 39=.00213
MF at 42=.00222

Leasing is through Chrysler. At 42 months with $5000 down the payment comes out at $639.39. With nothing down $760. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Using those prices and numbers, I get a pre-tax payment within $1 of the dealer quote - but, my calculations are without the $5000 up front.

There is about $1100 in fees including acq fee, title, license etc. The first payment is being taken from the $5000 leaving the remainder toward cap cost reduction. No matter how many times I do it, my calculation is coming up significantly cheaper. I’m not sure what I’m factoring incorrectly

Wouldn't the $1100 in fees also be part of that $5K?

I can't see your calculations, so I can't comment on where things went sideways.

I figured it out. I was not calculating the taxes paid on the down payment. Now my numbers are matching.

based on 15k and 36 months

The net Nat Cap Cost is 46,381
I'm in Charlotte, NC area (sales tax 3%)
their payment estimate is 555.38

The Net Cap Cost includes several fees. (totaling $1,494)
1. acq fee - $700
2. Doc and title fee 700
3. some other fee (94.25)

I was expecting
a. a lower selling price (maybe 48,500?)
b. a lower net cap cost (44,600ish)

In addition I was told that there is a $700 fee to apply for credit.
My gut says.... this is not a deal worthy of conversation.

My thinking is that the net cap cost can come down to approx 44,600 and therefore payment would be around 501.

A few thoughts:
1. Why start a lease with $5K up front? Most of that money is at risk if the car is stolen or totaled, and it doesn't change the total cost of the lease.

3. Have you shopped multiple dealers?
