Getting 500 to 1000 dollars on you trade if dealers think they could sell at auction. Do you really think any dealer wants a 15 year old car to sell ? ...... NO
If your trading in vehicle target 4 or 5 of the closest dealerships for a trade and buy. Work on getting the lowest car price 1st via emails and calls to the internet managers from all targeted dealerships. Then drive car down to each one making the best deal on the trade. If you decide not to trade vehicle you could broaden your search on targeted dealerships.
Another option : donate your car to a charity and take the tax deduction on your income tax. Putting a 2k deduction would not raise any flags and would save you a few dollars on your taxes.

Even though I just started doing some homework for a week on buying an 2015 Accord EX-L 4 Cyl but I learned so much from this great forum expecially Brian. I just decided to go for an EX-L for $28,237 OTD from Hardin Honda in Orange county, CA.

Buying a 2014 model could save you 2000 to 2500 below dealers invoice price where buying the 2015 model may be priced at invoice or a few dollars higher. Make your best deal between both models if your interested in a 2014. Ask dealers for pricing for both years then negotiate down from there initial sales numbers.
Supply and demand and your area will dictate pricing. Get as many dealerships involved as far as your willing to travel to. This will help you make the best deal.
Your 2015 models target price range should be Invoice price to 500 below and 2000 to 2500 dollars below on the 2014 model. Some buyers will do better than these prices I posted but most fall into this price range. Check to see incentives and rebates on both models?

All 3 vehicles are good choices. The Accord will hold the best resale value out of the lot..
The Altima has a slight edge over Accords 27/36 mpg. with a ................... 27/38 mpg rating.
The Camry has a softer ride than a Accord. The Altima has the most legroom at....... 45'
Both Altima and Accord have a Continuously variable-speed automatic ( CVT transmissions). The Camry has 6-speed shiftable automatic.

Sales rep said that Taxes and License should be 11%, and includes dealer document fees. DMV site says at that price 25488, the taxes and registration fee is $2,507.
I tried going to a different dealership that has a 2014 Accord EXL- coupe without navigation and he sales guy refused to give me a price unless I fill out a credit check application. I refused because I was just want to inquire about pricing and he said $24900.
I did some research and according to Edmunds, people in my area are paying $25686 for the EX-L (w/o navi) and 27300 w navi.

Breakdown - Price was:
$20,350 (including dest and the following extras: wood grain, pin stripes, chrome pillar, and edge moulding.)
OTD was $22,400 after tax, fees, etc.

My thought process was that I could have probably negotiated down to $19,500 (or maybe a little less) - which is about $2200 under invoice - if I went to a few more dealers and without all of those extra bells and whistles (wood kit, chrome, etc.). But after taking a look at those extras I really enjoyed them. I figure I'm paying a bit of extra markup ~$850 or so for those to be included... whether they're worth it, to me they really made the car finish look real nice and I bit it this time.
I'll do a more detailed breakdown if that helps future buyers:

Frank was definitely on top of things. The car was not present at first but he had the car brought over from another lot immediately so that I could view it, he took me inside and explained the features, and was overall a great person to work with. (It was the last 2014 LX that they had)
Definitely looking forward to driving it soon - I'm really happy with the purchase overall. And it definitely helps to hear from someone like you that I did fine on the deal!

2014 LX - 18,327 including destination fees

These are initial internet quotes. I think the LX quote is more than 3000 less than invoice. I can wait, but from my inquiries, most dealerships have little to no 2014 models left. Should I pull the trigger?
I had three choices of which were 2015 Hyundai Sonata Sport, 2015 Nissan Altima 2.5S and 2014 Honda Accord EX.
I emailed to every dealers around including far places.
My initial choice was Sonata as I thought getting the model with the price of SE was really good deal. But it did not take too long to change my initial choice. I called my cousin (He works for car related job) to discuss which option would be the best and he said not to buy Hyundai as it has some problems (It could be his opinion or whatever I don't know) and recommended Honda as #1 and Nissan the second. In addition to that, when I found out that Hyundai's resale value was really poor as I had my 2012 Sonata GLS and it drastically decreased in value, I could not stay with the initial choice.
So I went to local Nissan dealer to just check out and test drive Altima 2.5S as I do not really know much about this car and I fell into it right away as it felt and looked really neat and nice. It is equipped with the push button start, remote engine start, video audio package, power seat, huge spacious leg rooms, and great feeling and comfort from the seat. Not only that, it driving was smooth compare to Hyundai and was fun to drive.
Only downside for this vehicle was probably noise and some of the vibration from engine which you can feel it when you are driving, reacting from accelerator little bit behind (this is personal) for like a second, the brand name (I 'think' Honda has the best reputation in terms of brand, Toyota the second, and possibly Nissan third and Hyundai probably 7th or 8th?), and the fact that I have not received the clear confirmation price for this vehicle at that time.
After visiting Nissan dealership, I decided to check out Honda Accord to see the difference between two. My initial test drive was LX and this vehicle was really nice except it did not come with the power seat which was a big deal to me. And as soon as I was trying to get out, the salesman recommended EX. I never really considered about EX but I figured since I received great offers for LX ($19,686 OTD), wanted to see how it would turn out. So I sat down and asked for the price, and the manager brought me the price of $25,000 plus other fees. I showed him the quote I have received with the LX and showed him the difference of the MSRP for both vehicles. Manager looked at it and offered $22,611 OTD based on the difference of the MSRP. I counter offered $21,000 OTD and he said $22,611 was the best he could do so I walked out. At that time, I felt $22,611 for 2014 Model was too high so I walked out. However, after searching through how people bought their this model, I realized this was the best deal so far but that still did not change my mind that I was going to go choose Nissan Altima 2.5S.
On the next day, was going to go for Nissan dealership that offered $20,500 OTD and was passing by the Honda dealership. Suddenly, I wanted to try for luck thinking if the price be at $22,000 OTD, then I would sign the deal. So I went in and found the manager and gave him the offer and he came back saying $22,354 is the lowest they can do and I thought about it a bit and decided to take the deal since the Nissan dealer was too far away from where I live and there is no guarantee that the dealer stick with the price when I get there. While I was in the process of buying with the salesman, I received bunch of emails from Nissan and Honda. The lowest price that the other Honda dealer provided was $23,000 OTD which was still good but not better than this. Some dealers emailed me back saying I am crazy and need to offer realistic offer. Along with the Honda offers, One Nissan dealer came back to me with $20,262 OTD with 0% for 60 months for 2015 Nissan Altima 2.5SV with the video audio package, power seat package, and sport value package. I kind of got carried away by this however, it was too late to change my mind and the fact that EX has the sunroof and Altima doesn't made me feel better with the choice I made.
All in all, the process did not take that long. It took like 2 hours in and out at most. The monthly payment was $381.15 and since I put $1,000 down, it made it to $364.10.
The best OTD price that I have received for these three cars were (I know you guys want selling price, but I go for the OTD price which I understand it varies but I live in SC and OTD includes tag, title, tax and other fees meaning everything)
2015 Hyundai Sonata Sport OTD $18,700 with 2.39% for 60 months (APR was high, so hypothetically more like $19,335 with 0.9% for 60 months although they did not offer 0.9%).
2015 Nissan Altima 2.5 SV OTD $20,262 with 0% for 60 months (I wanted S but they gave me this price for SV which is better).
2014 Honda Accord EX OTD $22,354 with 0.9% for 60 months.
Hope this would help someone who is in similar situation and I appreciated all the help from you guys it really did help to know about the current market.
Your 2015 Accord EX model quote is wrong. Trust me...... That price is probably for A 2014 model. What your suggesting is a dealer selling a 2015 model at 2214 below invoice. That's not happening. Re check your pricing. Dealers are known to lie and twist numbers bear that in mind. . The LX model is a good deal at over 3k.... that price is possible for the end of the year time like now.
What area are you buying in?? There was another Forum buyer who I helped buy a 2014 Accord LX model end of last month for 2850 below dealers invoice. This was In............ MA.

This was the best price that any dealership was offering and it is the color I want too. However, this car already has a little over 100 miles on it. They said it was a trade between dealership but that dealership is less than 40 miles one way. They would not budge at all so I decided to wait and think about it.

If you negotiate hard tomorrow and dealer still needs there monthly sales incentive numbers you could do a lot better on this price. If this dealer lets you walk away from this deal tomm. they don't need the sale and could afford to lose your business and sell to another buyer.. That's how you will know.
Today and tomorrow is when I prey on these dealers....... Pitting one against the next looking for that knock out buy with a dealer looking to meet there sales quota for the month.

I got an OTD offer of 21000 (includes tax, new tag and dealer fee) from a nearby dealership for a 2014 Accord LX. Since it was almost 9 PM, I didn't commit and told him that I'll see him tomorrow. He said I have time till EOD tomorrow to accept. Would appreciate your feedback on this offer. Thanks!

To all: When will people learn that OTD price means nothing in here when asking others to give you feedback. Some states have absolutely no sales tax which would mean your OTD price sucks. Vice versa if you are in a high tax state. OTD can vary by thousands of dollars and be exactly the same selling price depending on which state/city you're buying in. Make the effort to break it down if you want others to take the time to try and help you.
I bought an 2015 Accord EX-L V6 yesterday from a dealer in SoCal for ~$2000 under invoice.
MSRP: $31,285
Sell Price: $26,690 (includes $790 destination)
Tax (CA 8%) $2,142 + License/Reg fees ($388)
OTD $29,220
I initially planned to buy 2015 EX-L and was offered $27,270 OTD price but chose to buy the V6 version instead.
Invoice price per Edmunds - 20830 + 790 (dest charge) + 312 (advertising fee) = 21932
Price I was offered = 18800
Dealer fee = 600
Sales tax = 1200
Tag/Misc = 300
Doc fee = 100
Total = 21000
I will be financing.

Just to add to this post . Doc fee charges differ from one state to the next. Dealer to dealer. Some states pay as high as 899 dollars . In NY doc's are caped at 75 dollars. NJ is 199 to 499 etc. Ask dealerships when negotiating price what there Doc fee is? When you buy a new vehicle you should have a target price to buy. A low and high end price. Some states may only be able to achieve the low end price. This does not mean its a bad deal. It represents the best price in your area that's all.

Thank you for your response. I am in MA and I confirmed the quote for the Accord EX is for a 2015. I also have a quote for a 2014 Accord Hybrid Base - $24,277.00 including destination. Crunching mileage numbers, but it's hard to compare these models as the options are so different between them.
My 2005 Odyssey transmission is slipping (168K) and cannot be driven, so I need to buy. I could potentially wait until next month. I believe there are plenty of 2015 Accords if I wait, but not 2014 models.
It's a big change for me having driven the Mom Mobile for so long, but I commute -40 miles each day to work and a better fuel efficient option is probably best for me now. The van got a workout when the kids were home and later moving them in and out of dorms and apartments. Even though I still have a couple left in dorms/apts, I think my minivan days are over.
I have test driven the hybrid, but not the other models. Any advice is appreciated.

Your in a area where very good deals could be had on Accords. I would check to see if the MPG's and price is worth upgrading to the Accord Hybrid. I never drove one so I can't comment.
The Accord hybrid's mpg's list at............. 50 / 45 pretty impressive. There are no incentives right know on the 2015 Hybrid models. Getting below invoice may be hard with this model due to the supply and demand factor.
A 4cyl. Accord lists at 27/36 mpg. If you really like the Accord buying a 2015 at 2000 below dealers invoice price is a awesome deal. pretty much un heard of . Honda is pushing for sales numbers. Here in the NYC/ NJ area getting close to invoice price on a 2015 model is about the best you may do.
Other choice options are....... Altima , Sonata, Camry. The 2015 Legacy is also very nice but the mpg's are not as good as others.
Accord's MPG's is probably the best at........... 50/45.
