I would think any of them.

But, I would suggest you go in armed - with information.

Call MBFS and get the payoff of your current lease, then take your car to CarMax and get a trade value. That way, you'll have an idea of how much positive or negative equity you have when you make a deal.

How many months are left in your lease?

A little over a year. It's time to replace front tires - pretty pricey - so basically I'm trading for same car with softer suspension and longer wearing tires, but at these $$ it's worth it. Thanks very much for the sage advice.

Yes, MSD is multiple security deposits.

However, you'll have to make your transaction in either CT or NJ, as NY does not allow them on leases.

Thanks for the quick response! Do you have any advice other than direct pay to drop the money factor since I can't do MSDs in NY? I could threaten to do the deal elsewhere if they can't get the payment down through other means.

You can use autopay to lower the MF by .00010. Beyond that, your only recourse is a lower selling price.

Can't hurt to shop NJ or CT dealers, depending on how far you're willing to travel to get what you want, and a price you want.

I am working on a deal for a C300 RWD at a Mercedes Benz dealership in Florida. I think the offer is pretty good, but I run the numbers myself, there is about a $1000 difference between my numbers and the dealerships numbers.

    36 months, 12,000 miles

    MSRP: $42,955
    Selling Price: $37,457

Sales Tax (estimate): $2337.32 (Sales tax should be 7%, but this is run off of 6.24%)
    Tag/Registration Fees: $250
    Tire/Battery Fee: $6.50
    Tag Agency Fee: $98.75
    Documentation Fee: $699.95

    Balance Due (estimate): $40,849.52

Their initial offer was $3000 down, $415 per month, and when I run it I get $2000 down, $417 a month. I'm not going to walk away over $1000, but I'm curious to see what you get when you run it. I want the dealership to prepay for maintenance ($985), and I don't want to be aggressive about it unless I know they actually have the room. This deal was run without enrolling for Autopay (which I plan to do).

    Thanks in advance!

Florida doesn't tax leases upfront. It taxes the monthly payment.
So, the tax number isn't relevant for a lease.
Also, no mention of the $795 acquisition fee.

The reason it doesn't add up, is that the "Balance Due" isn't the actual number they would use for a lease. It's a purchase number.

I really am trying to learn here, so I have a few more questions:

    1. How would the dealer calculate the number they would use for the lease (in this situation)?

    2. If you were advising a client (for example), would you recommend he accepts this deal? Or do you think the dealership playing games? I feel like them leaving out the Acquisition Fee isn't the most honorable move at this point...

Thank you so much for your help!

If they gave you the actual adjusted CAP cost, you'd see the acquisition fee, and title/registration fees.
That looks like a quote from an Autonation dealer. All purchase information (which is very complete, to their credit), but then just a magical lease quote, with no reconciliation to the purchase numbers.

That is a decent deal, as quoted. But, you need to see all of the numbers.
Some Mercedes dealers will residualize the maintenance plan. That increases the MSRP and reduces the actual cost to the lessee by half.

You are correct, this was an Autonation dealership. They didn't seem to eager to show me the numbers, which is another reason I left feeling a bit skeptical. I will keep your advice about the maintenance plan in mind. Thank you again for all your help! I really do appreciate it!

Just signed this C300 RWD deal in Los Angeles.

    MSRP: $40,975
    Cap cost: $34,380.61
    36 month/12,000 mi
Drive off: $883.64. First month + fees.
Monthly: $410 including 8.75% tax. I got the 3 year maintenance included for $423.89 including tax.

I think I got a pretty good deal.
