It seemed like a fair enough downpayment range for the price of the car and I didn't know if the amount down would affect the rate and/or deal. If it doesn't, then I wouldn't put that much down.

Does going to a 39month lease change things much? Also, what is the best way to calculate the monthly payment for these options?

You don't want to prepay any of the lease - it masks the true cost, and that money would be lost if the car is stolen or totaled.

Yes, 39 month numbers are different; 39/12 numbers are as follows:

1st Ed - 50% and .00029
R-Dyn HSE - 54% and .00043

Ack, I can't back into the numbers - can someone help me? I'm in NJ (7% sales tax) and I'm leasing a Velar R-Dyn SE Td4 with an MSRP of $66,224 with a $1,500 discount. They've offered $899/mo for 36/10k or $885/mo for 39/10k with only inception fees being paid.

So, what residual and money factor are they using? Are they on or being greedy?

Also, I know this isn't for the leasing gurus that help us on this forum, but my perception is that I can negotiate for a deeper discount for a diesel Velar R-Dyn SE that's been on the lot since the first release.

I don't think there are as many buyers for Td4 models and they probably want this one off the lot as soon as practical. Can anyone support my theory? Lots of Velars have been going for MSRP, but I'm wondering if a deeper discount is available. Your thoughts?

What, specifically, are the "inception fees"? In NJ, tax is assessed against the sum of the payments and collected up front. You can pay it with the fees, or you can add it into the selling price.

What you need from the dealer is the "adjusted cap cost"

If you don't ask for a deeper discount, you won't know what's possible. Though, with the Velar being so new, and LR / RR dealers being allergic to discounts in general, you may have their best price.

Lease terms are MSRP $70,485, 36 month, 10k miles allowed, Residual 56%, Money Factor 0.00131, with min. of $1,832 down.

Option 2: Same vehicle...MSRP $70,485, 36 month, 15k miles allowed, Residual 53%, Money factor 0.00131, with min. $1,832 down.

Question what is the money factor and residual for this area (northern CA)? Should I have them take money off MRSP and lower money factor?

I have to say the money factor the dealer quoted me seems way HIGH!

The MF is marked up, exactly .00100. The base rate is .00031, this month.

Residual is correct; those are fixed by the bank.

My stock line is that LR dealers seem to be allergic to discounting; if you have the luxury of shopping multiple dealers, do so and have them compete for the right to earn your business.
