I just came back from a dealership and this is what they quoted me for the following model. Please let me know if this is a good deal based on your calculation and other factors. Please advise what am I missing. I made an offer around $775 for 36/10K. Is it reasonable offer? They are willing to come down to $800/month.

Model: BMW X5 XDR40e Performance (comes with self parking assistance, sun roof, leather, etc…)
    Lease Term: 36month/10k

    MSRP: 71,195
    Sale price: 64,095 (~9% discount)
    Rebates: - 6,000
    Advanced Payment: 839
    Upfront Charges: 794
    Total Cap Deduction: 4366,64
    RV: 59% = $42,000 (10K = 59%, 12K = 58%, 15K = 56%)
    MF: 0.00.192

    EST FEES/TERM: 2069
Tax: 4183 (Tax here in GA for 2017 is full amount of the car value. We all know this is fraud! Ouch). In 2018, it’ll just be only the lease portion.

    36/10K = $839/mon.
    36/12K = $858/mon
    36/15K = $896/mon.

Hi, Long time lurker, first time participant on this board. I've been using the same BMW dealership for 8 years. Wife and I both lease BMWs.
My wife's X3 has 4 months left on the lease.
The dealership is offering to "forgive" the remaining payments of current lease, forgive the lease disposition fee (which I have never paid anyway), plus offering a loyalty credit from BMW Corp - X3 Loyalty Credit $1500 and a dealership bonus of $1200. My wife wants to get an X5 instead of an X3. (X5 Xdrive35 - 36 mo/10K)
(At drive off, I only paid the first month's payment, so there won't be any loss if they forgive the rest of the payments.)

Do you think I can stack the following bonus/credits after I negotiate the sale price?
    $1500 X3 Loyalty Credit
    $1200 Dealership Bonus
    $3000 X5 Holiday Cash
$1000 BMW Sweepstakes credit (through a corporate event I attended recently)

Thank you in advance for your insight.

What is the "Dealership Bonus"? Is that an actual rebate, or just a way of saying they'll discount the vehicle by $1200.

I don't see a loyalty credit on the X5. Only if you purchase/lease an X3, so that seems doubtful

thank you, kyfdx. I did not think so, either. and as far as the dealership bonus, it sounds like it's a discount to vehicle, not a rebate. regardless, if I can use the other two and get a decent percentage off, I will be happy.

Adj Cap Cost: 59,744 (that's from sale price - 6000 rebates, no money down)

Upfront charges, I think it's from the dealer fees and titles, reg.

Why lease now? because they gave me 9% discount which is 71000 msrp - 64,095 sale price = 6,905. If I wait for Jan 2018, then I m not sure if they would provide deep discount at 9%?.

Tax is: 4,100 (must pay full) but when Jan 1 comes, tax only goes to the lease portion which is about 1700/36 which comes out to be $47mon on tax.

    Thoughts and advice?

If it was a 2017 model, then waiting might be a risk, but it's a 2018 model. They won't run out of them. The tax law changes on January 1st, but the lease program goes through January 2nd (including the rebates).

With the $2400 savings in sales tax, I'd take my chances.

You have a lot of fees there that aren't itemized. That's where good deals turn into bad deals.

Hello! Do you have RV/MF values for the following?

    Location: California

    2017 X5 Xdrive35i 36/15 and 36/12
    2018 X5 Xdrive35i 36/15 and 36/12

I have some questions for the experts who actually understand this stuff...

    Location: California

    1. Why should we "roll in" taxes and fees? And if they do get rolled in, how does the math change? Where would it get added (i.e. added to the capitalized cost?)
    2. How does BMW roll in the $3k holiday incentive/$1k fleet discount/$1k college grad rebate? Do they all count as cap cost reductions or do they count as incentives? If I understand correctly, the customer pays taxes on incentives at the sales tax rate (9.5% in CA) while cap cost reductions are deducted directly from the capitalized cost, which means that it's more beneficial to the customer to have cap cost reductions?

    1. Yes, any taxes and fees you don't pay up front would be added to the cap cost; if you pre-pay them, and the car is stolen or totaled, you would be out that money
    2. They are incentives, and subject to sales tax.

Hey Michaell and kyfdx, thanks a bunch for your prompt responses! I got a verbal offer from a SoCal dealer for a 36/15k lease:

    2018 X5 Xdrive 35i
    MSRP: $68,645
    Negotiated sales price: $64,183
    MF/RV: .00152/.56

Here's the part where I did my own math, so I would greatly (and gratefully) appreciate someone checking my work

I have the $3k holiday incentive + $1k college grad + $1k fleet discounts, so I am assuming the math should work out as follows:

    Adjusted capital cost: $59183 (64183-5000)

Base payment (total lease amount of 20742 divided by 36): $576.16
    Rent Charge: $148.39
Tax (9.5% CA sales tax on leased amount): $68.83
    Total Monthly: 793
    Drive-off (fees+1st month payment): $2273 (793 monthly + fees + 9.5% tax on incentives of $5k)

Thanks in advance for your help!

The math is correct. Your drive-off might be higher than that. The acquisition fee alone is $925

I was quoted on a car and the fleet discount is taken off the selling price whereas the $3k holiday incentive is a cap cost reduction that is taxed seemingly because it is a rebate of some sort.

    Hi,

    2018 x5 sDrive35i M Sport
    MSRP: $70,870
    15k/year
    36 months
    CA 10% tax
    $5000 down
    $735 monthly payment

Purchased the excessive wear and tear and also maintenance so it came out to $835/month. Probably overpaid for the plans.

    Thoughts?

Yep, and they've discontinued the MSD program, cut back on the benefits of the fleet program, etc.

Overall, leasing a BMW is getting more expensive.

Hi, 2018 x5 sDrive35i M Sport MSRP: $70,870 15k/year 36 months CA 10% tax $5000 down $735 monthly payment Purchased the excessive wear and tear and also maintenance so it came out to $835/month. Probably overpaid for the plans. Thoughts?
$2000 in extras doesn't make for a cheap lease. Congrats on the new BMW!
How would the deal have looked without the extras?

How does this deal look? I was told invoice was the best they could do even with a 12/31 deal. I am getting everything rolled in and I am getting corp fleet as well.

I get the same pre-tax payment with those numbers

That discount is only 6% off sticker; you might be able to negotiate another $1000 of the sticker price, and save another $30/mo on the payment.

How does this Northern NJ deal sound??

I don't really get why it is important to see exactly where all the money is allocated.
IMHO In the end all that really matters is the monthly payment and the walk off/Out of Pocket.

I will say that working the numbers before you go is necessary to get you to your happy point or else you are at the mercy of the salesman.....

    2018 X5 40e (New)

    MSRP $71,060
Selling Price $63,072 (But who really cares, its only a number)
    36/10 Lease
    All rebates to Dealer
3 months Pull Ahead on returning Lease.

$2500 Walk off including 1st Month, $5000 End of Lease Wear and Tear Protection ($600 supposedly) some taxes and who knows what else????.

    Payment $599 mo.

Good enough for me, drove it home today.

With out the information posted here I wouldn't have had any idea where to begin.

Thanks to all who contribute to this forum.

Nice car BTW cool factor is 10+++++

    My Apologies:
Forgot to add that I rolled over $4200 in MSD's from returning lease to get to $599.
So, not as good, but still good I think.

    Thanks

I just came back from a dealership and this is what they quoted me for the following model. Please let me know if this is a good deal based on your calculation and other factors. Please advise what am I missing. I made an offer around $775 for 36/10K. Is it reasonable offer? They are willing to come down to $800/month.

Model: BMW X5 XDR40e Performance (comes with self parking assistance, sun roof, leather, etc…)
    Lease Term: 36month/10k

    MSRP: 71,195
    Sale price: 64,095 (~9% discount)
    Rebates: - 6,000
    Advanced Payment: 839
    Upfront Charges: 794
    Total Cap Deduction: 4366,64
    RV: 59% = $42,000 (10K = 59%, 12K = 58%, 15K = 56%)
    MF: 0.00.192

    EST FEES/TERM: 2069
Tax: 4183 (Tax here in GA for 2017 is full amount of the car value. We all know this is fraud! Ouch). In 2018, it’ll just be only the lease portion.

    36/10K = $839/mon.
    36/12K = $858/mon
    36/15K = $896/mon.

What is the adjusted CAP cost?
Are the "Upfront charges" part of the "EST FEES/TERM" of $2069?
Why lease this vehicle now, when the taxes drop precipitously on January 1st?
Money factor is marked up the maximum from .00152 base.

I worked out a deal with them for $790/month for 36months 10k no money down except 1st month of $790. All included (tax, fees, whatever). In GA, I m paying full tax amount for the car. How did it look?

    Actually, not too bad.

Base MF and 7% off MSRP, before incentives, are good.

We'd suggest you add the dealer fee and bank fee into the payment, and skip the $1800 cash. You'll have a higher payment (by about $100/mo), but your up front cash drops to around $1300 (first payment + tag/title)

This must be Florida, home of the outrageous dealer fee.

Can you confirm .00152 MF and 58% with $3000 lease credit?
    Both 2018 X5 3.5 and diesel.

Dealer is telling me BMW lease credit is only $1k for January.

Hi there. Looking for a MF and residual for a 2018 X5 35i for 12/15k lease. Also, should a deal start right now at 7% off MSRP and go down from there? Also, any insight on current deals and rebates offered? Thank you!!!

$1000 lease credit is the only incentive we see

7% off sticker price, before any available incentives, is a good starting point.

Is this a fair deal? 2018 X5 xDrive50i 10k miles 36 month for $1210/month with Zero Down taxes, fees capped. MD taxes @ 6%. Thanks!

With those prices, I am within $1 of that payment quote.

However, you are only getting about 5.5% discount from sticker (before incentive) - you should shoot for 7%.

Good Morning, long time lurker— I’ve benefited from your advice and data! Thank you!

    Looking to confirm the following:

    2018 BMW X5 xDrive35d
    36/10 Lease
    MF: .000152
    Residual: 59%

Is there a money factor credit for paying for the entire lease up front? I’ve read conflicting claims online. One source mentioned a MF credit of: 0.0003

When you pay up front, is it literally the calculated payment * 35, plus the drive off amount? Nothing funny with cap reduction?

    Thanks again,

    Reza

Numbers are correct for that model

    Yes.. the discount is .00030.
I don't think that's worth paying the full lease upfront, but you may feel differently.

36 X the new payment plus fees.
