If that is the case I get Net Cap Cost of $48,861
Residual $31,153

Using 0.75% and 5% tax rate, I get payment of $543 including tax with only first payment due at signing.

Dealer is telling me $555monthly with 1st payment plus $184 in upfront county tax and $150 for tax on rebate for total of about $889 due at signing.

Know difference not that great but just wondered if I calculated right or if dealer is correct?

Running your numbers I get a payment of $544.36. My guess is there's some added dealer fees thrown in there to get your price to $555. Ask about doc fees or any additional dealer fees.

On a side note, I've been shopping for a limited and have received a few quotes for $4,800 off. You're at $4,314 for a platinum so I'd definitely be asking for a bigger discount, likely closer to $5,000.

Where do you live? I'm in Douglas County and have learned more than I care to about sales tax, since I just moved to an unincorporated part of the county.

What cap cost is the dealer using for their quote? $12/mo is $430 - dealer fee, perhaps?

We've heard that about Ford, before. A higher residual can only benefit you. I'm surprised they can residualize tint, though.

Go to a different dealer. I had the same issue with the first dealer I went to, wanted to charge me for Tint and a few other items which were ridiculously overpriced. 2nd dealer did not add this cost to the sticker price. Hopefully you have more than one option in your area. Good luck

Yeah I've emailed a lot of dealers within a 500 mile radius. That particular one refuses to give me a written quote so they certainly won't earn my business. I'll go until I have a deal most dealers say they can't beat.

I am interested in leasing a 2018 Ford Explorer Sport or Platinum and have been browsing these forums for a little while and gathered lots of information about residual values, money factor, discounts, etc. however one thing I haven't seen a lot of information on is how exactly you guys go about the negotiation process. I assume that most of the discussions are had via e-mail but how do you begin the process? With so much to negotiate and a relative lack on inexperience in this space, I was just looking for whatever tips you guys can provide for how you go about communicating with dealerships to make sure you get the best possible deal.

Find a unit in stock, then email them about your interest. If you have a price in mind, share that. Tell them you are leasing (lease and purchase incentives are different, and you don't want to get a great price only to be told "Oh, you're leasing? We can't do that price."

Be up front - miles, term, how much out of pocket.

I noticed this months incentives go until 7/9, does the MF and RV change (possibly) on the 1st? Also, without your crystal ball handy, does Ford usually have any additional incentives for the 4th of July?
