I thought the same about the billboard, and technically that counts too :)

Sure, it counts, honestly I didn't even notice.
I'm struck by the number of 124 Sport coupes, a type relatively rare over here. I guess this is a middle class section of Rome where cars like the 124 SC are thought of as family cars a step above the ubiquitous Fiat 500/600s but oddly I see no 124 Berlinas (4drs) a very popular all over the globe-except NA.

A BMW Neue Classe, who knows what number they had in Italy, 1602?
    I don't think that's a Bimmer but I can't quite place it. Don't think it's a Fiat either.
I think you’re right. Maybe an Alfa or Lancia?

    Possibly a Lancia Fulvia Berlina?

The C-post looks wider than in the other photo but that could be a production yr change.
I don't see the mid-trunk lid notch that would make it an Alfa Giulia.

Below the billboard is a man standing at the driver's side of a car which looks like this Fiat 1300:

And behind that is a car which looks like this Italian Ford Anglia Torino:

Isn't that a Reliant Robin, Jeremy Clarkson's candidate for worst handling car of all time? It was supposed to provide transportation for handicapped vets of WWII.

    Nope, that's not a Robin.

It is probably as ill-handling as the Robin. The Top Gear segment on it where Clarkson keeps rolling one is really funny. I wonder what posessed Reliant to use a 1 wheel in front-2 in back layout. That's a recipe for bad cornering behavior which is why vehicles like the CanAm Spider and the Polaris Slingshot do the opposite (2 in front-1 in back).

Reliant went on to build a decent four-wheel sports car, the Scimitar

I've been to Menton while staying at San Remo about ten years ago.

The VW looking car virtually alongside the chap walking from the tall dark truck is a Renault 750 /4CV
Isn't that a dark M-B Ponton alongside the approaching Ariane?
I'll pick up on one particular oddity. To the right third car up just beyond a blue / white Peugeot 403 is a little grey van. That is a Renault Dauphinoise, which was an estate car version of the old Renault Juvaquattre dating back to the 40s but still made until about 1960 - it was named Dauphinoise.
Going away from us is a Peugeot 203 Fourgonette
I must say that Simca roadster to the left looks much like an early Sunbeam Alpine too.

Note the yellow / white Citroen DS has an Italian numberplatewhich is why it spoils the line of the rear.

Reliant made commercial vehicles based on the front half of a motorbike and a box van on the back on the mid thirties and sold thousands of them - it was only later they made cars too, but of course they used the single front wheel layout for those as well. In Austerity britain (probably coming back soon...) people didn't all drive quite like Clarkson, and many only had a motorbike to replace...

indeed we also would have had really great three wheelers made by Morgan with two front wheels - and they were proper sporting machines... Since revived in last ten years or so....

Through the glass I think that's a Ford Model A on the other side.

edit: maybe like this 1928 model A on wiki.

I had a toy EXP when I was a kid, yellow with an opening rear hatch. I thought it was a kind of cool sporty car, kind of a weird face/eyes though.

It's a 1971 BMW 1600 cabriolet by Baur. Some one has blacked out the grille to make it look like a 2002.

In preparation for, and to give you a heads up on the upcoming comment box changes, I've posted a guide to the new comment box. I've covered everything, where you can find it, how to use it, and what it does. Any questions you might have can be posted here in this thread. Shouldn't be too big of an adjustment. It is simply a settings change on the comment box, NOT a change in the forums software. How you navigate, sign in, and all the rest remains the same. This will get us past the issues some users have had with the links for attaching images and the like. Check it out. Wanted to try and make sure that everyone, especially you folks that make a lot of posts, will be prepared and not surprised when we implement this.

Update... the new comment box is going live on Friday. Take a peek at the instructions, but for the most part, things will be obvious and you'll be right in the swing of it after 1 or 2 posts. That was my experience in testing it out

How can one year be distinguished from another?

On this one the taillight does not seem to have a chrome color stripe on it.
On the 1975 in a brochure, it does have a bright line...
