We did use the same residual and I assume MF is high, but what else did I miss? I thought in MN we pay tax on the monthly charge, not an upfront charge?

I think MN bases sales tax on the payments, but collects it all upfront. It is likely that the "Total Due" is based on a purchase, and the tax number given is not reflective of the actual tax levied on the lease. You'll notice that they didn't mention the acquisition fee, either.
As far as your calculation: You have to account for the acquisition fee, doc and DMV, and first payment out of the $3000. That isn't going to leave much for CAP reduction.
If you want to see where your money is going, you need to see a screenshot of the computer, with input from this deal.
