.00154 MF and 62% residual for base model, 36mo, 15K/yr
    66% for 10k miles/yr?

15k per year. the msrp was 30,000.

    .00155 MF and 59% residual 36mo, 15K/yr.

With an MSRP of $30K and CAP cost of $31K, the payment would be $445/mo.

If your payment is $350/mo. with $1500 down, you probably did get a good deal.... just not with the numbers you are giving us.

Hi, I live in Oregon, no sales tax(does this change on MF/Residual?). I had preorder a 2016 Limited WRX with Code22, Package#1, STI exhaust, STS addons
    MSRP $36800
    Selling price $33500
    License fee $400

Thinking put $3000 down, and what will my MF and Residual would be for 36months /12K miles? What will my monthly payment be?/
I never lease a car before, first time. please share some good thoughts.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi, got a question. So when I doing lease...the lower residual number that the Bank or Dealer gave me the better..is that right?
what about MF? is the lower better or higher better?

The residual is fixed by the bank, and the dealer can't adjust it... Higher is better, as that results in less depreciation and a lower payment.

The money factor is the finance rate. Lower is better.

Thanks, I see. I will go in Subaru next month to pick up the car. just clarify,..these are the things i need to memorize?

    Higher Residual = better
    Lower MF = better
    Lower selling price = better

should i put down payment or not? i heard if the down payment does not good if the car is not buy out after the lease..is this true?

A down-payment will reduce your total monthly payment outlay, dollar for dollar.. with a small savings. No point in doing that.. It just serves to make the vehicle look cheaper to rent than it really is..

That is right, however the only thing of those three that you can negotiate is the selling price. The other two are set by the leasing company.

Guys, I've settled on a 2015 WRX base model six-speed. Will be picking it up Wednesday !!

I'm in Canada, details of my lease:

    MSRP: $29,995 + mandatory fees of $2,036.15

I got them down to an out the door selling price of $30,436.15; doing a 36 month, 20,000 Km lease at a 0.9% (.000375 MF) interest rate. Residual value is 59% ($18,201.50). Our tax is 13% here.

Putting no money down, my monthly lease payment is $404.51.

I haggled with them for a month to get that price and got them to match other dealers. Here in Canada, the 2016's are now arriving at dealerships so this was one of the last 2015's available within a 4 hour drive from my city which takes in roughly 25 dealerships. They told me this is the lowest price they have ever sold a WRX for, perhaps true, perhaps not but I feel I got them to the lowest number they would go.

Thanks for all the help on the way from this forum !!

Not exactly true ... the MF can be marked up by the dealer so it's imperative that you work to secure the base MF.

I'm looking to order and lease a 2016 WRX limited with nav package. I know you said the numbers aren't out yet for the 2016s, but I did speak to a dealer yesterday who gave me a selling price and some monthly lease payments. Were they just making numbers up, or have the MF/residuals become available? If available, I'd really appreciate them! If they're not available yet, any speculation on when they might become available? Thanks!

Thanks! I asked the salesperson and the numbers he gave me were .002 MF and 64% residual. I've been looking at the numbers given here for a 2015 WRX limited manula with nav, and this .002 seems very high. Am I correct in that belief? Or am I expecting too much?

Also, the salesperson had previously told me that the leases are always better near the beginning of the model year, as opposed to the end of the model year. Is that true? Clearly, from the MF figures, it doesn't SEEM true...

The WRX is a popular car, and Subaru isn't likely to provide really good lease numbers on them. That said, .002 is a bit higher than the 2015 MF, and the dealer is also allowed to mark it up for a bit of extra profit.

Given that we don't know what the base rate is, we can't tell you if that's the case with your dealer or not.

Thanks Michaell. I've since requested information from a second dealer, and he gave me different numbers (.0025 MF and 66% residual). It was my understanding that residual is specified by Subaru, and not something the dealers could mess with? Based on the fact that you said the official numbers aren't out, and the fact that each dealership gave me a different residual, I'm thinking maybe both salespeople are just coming up with numbers off the top of their head that seem reasonable but clearly favorable for them.

Given that, I think I will try to wait until Subaru gives out the official numbers. Then, at least, I'll have a better idea of what is possible and how much I may be getting screwed.

Dealers are not allowed to modify the residual. You may want to confirm the number of miles each dealer is quoting you.

Dealers may have the new numbers; we don't.

We don't have any of the lease numbers for the 2016 model, but that at least sounds reasonable. What is the MSRP?

To the guys talking about leasing at start of term vs. end I'll give my take.

Here in Canada the 2016's are now out.

I recently leased one of the last remaining 2015's. It was cheaper to get a 15 than 16.

Lease interest rate on 15 was 0.9% while the new interest rate on the 16 was 3.9%!! So it wasn't even close with a 59% vs 64% residual respectively. Almost $100/month difference, plus I feel I had some negotiation leverage getting a 15 when the 16's were out.

I know supposedly you can't get the 2016 numbers yet but I've seen some at the dealerships here in southern california. Will ask for whatever info they can give me regarding MF and residual. But for my own reference, do you have numbers for a 2015 STI lease? 36/15 or 36/12

Thanks! The TrueCar estimate for the 2016 STI + nav package is ~36k. Does that sound reasonable or a bit less than what you think the dealer will offer?

badmojo27, Try Roadster.com since you are in california. I looked them up on yelp and this company has like 5 stars across the board. It's a 3rd party dealer and he does all the negotiating legwork for you. He quoted me for a 2016 STI + nav system.

    MSRP: 38,000
    Sell Price: 36,000

Very low pressure and from the reviews, everybody loves him.

Looking to start negotiation on my ordered 2016 WRX STI Limited. Delivery is any day. Was told $500 over invoice so sell price is estimate.
    MSRP - $44,250
    Sell Price - $41,800
    Down - $3000
    10/36
    Calif.

    Thanks for your time

badmojo27, Try Roadster.com since you are in california.

Thanks for the info, I will look into that. The salesman is a friend of mine but wanted to get all my ducks in a row dealing with the sales manager.

What can I expect as a lease price on a 2016 Sti Base, Premium and Limited? 36/10k

Assuming $0 down and 41K price on the limited. Looking to buy one in the next week or so.

Do you have MF and residual for 2016 WRX Limited CVT w/Nav, 12/36 and 12/24?

Also, is Subaru waiving acquisition fee and security deposit? The dealer said they were doing that on 2015's.

    thanks in advance

    .00240 MF and 71% residual
    .00190 MF and 64% residual

No info on security deposit or acquisition fee waivers
Emailed sales manager and he is saying residual is only 58%.
He must be looking at 2015 model

He must be looking at 2015 model

I asked to double check and he said it was right and 24 month was 67%.

Car hasn't arrived yet so hopefully I can get accurate numbers from them then. Not liking the MF either, seems pretty high.

The numbers I gave were through Subaru Motors Finance (aka Chase). Maybe, if you are in the NorthEast, they are using some other bank. Otherwise, your guy is totally off.

If I went 12/36, what would the residual drop too?

    Thanks again

65% and .00224. With your MSRP and cap cost I get $349/mo before tax.

Dealer gave me the following info, just wanted to make sure this is right:

    2016 WRX Base 6-speed manual
    Residual 71% (36mo/10k)
    MF .00231

I'm in California if that matters
