If it were me, I'd separate the deals. Take a check for your trade and don't roll it into your lease. If your car is totaled, the gap insurance will only cover the balance remaining and you'll be out your $6500.

+1 on that statement. Use the money to augment the higher payment.

I agree.. I wouldn't put $6500 down on a lease. Ask for $5500 of that back in a check..

Of course, your payment will go up accordingly, but that will show you the true cost of the vehicle.

Have the numbers been released for the new model? They are showing in inventory locally, though I haven't actually confirmed they are truly on the lot.

Acq fee: $595
Doc fee: $150
Cap cost reduction: $1500 (bonus from Acura)
MF: 0.0002 (0.0001 is for zero due at signing lease program)
Residual: 57%
Cash at close: $1809.02 which includes 1st month payment, acq and doc fee, license

Monthly payment: $517.96 includes 9.8 WA sales tax

Can someone provide the RV and MF for a 2016 Acura MDX AWD Tech, 36 month / 12k miles, in NJ? Can you also explain how NJ taxes enter into the lease calculation?

My wife was quoted $489/month with $3500 due at signing (after some $2000 incentive) - that seemed high to me, without knowing any more info about the car - so wanted to get more info and try and run some of the calculations myself. Appreciate any insight.

I'm trying to compare a 36 month 15K mile lease of a 2016 SH-AWD with the potential purchase of used 2014 SH-AWD. It's easy to figure the cost of the purchased car, but I've never leased a car before.

I don't have a quote, but if someone could tell me the money factor and the residual percentage for this model with this lease, I would greatly appreciate it. I've read in the past couple of pages that there is 1,000 cash for all but the base model. Is the SH-AWD considered a base model (I wasn't sure since there is a FWD version).

Do people regularly negotiate the price of the car when leasing or do you just accept whatever the dealer proposes? Should I be reading the purchase thread as well to determine what people are paying for their MDXs? The only way I will leave the dealership with a 2016 MDX is through a lease. I have no plans of purchasing a 2016 model. It will be lease or I will buy the 2014 one I test drove.

Just got off the phone with a dealer. He mentioned (this in a dealer near Philadelphia) there is lease cash on the 2016: $500 base, $1,500 Tech, $1,750 Advance. Are the MF/residual 0.00020 and 60% for all trims for a 36m/10k lease?

Does this check out? I asked him for a print out of his figures, but he said that his computer program didn't work that way. I put it into the bankrate leasing calculator, but it said the payment would be $482.25. He said that the online lease calculators all work a little differently. I asked him exactly where the lease cash was located and he just said it was rolled in. I don't know. I wish that they would be more transparent.

For the base model, .00020 MF and 55% residual is correct for 36/15.
I doubt the selling price is the capitalized cost. You'd need to add the $595 acquisition fee, at least.

If I add in the $595, I get $480.69/mo.+tax. That's only about $8/mo. off of their quote.

The money factor is 0.00020, and the residual is $26194, or 57%. This is 36 month term and 12K miles. I get conflicting numbers using lease calculators from Edmunds and Bankrate. I am at end of lease on 2013 MDX base model, which has treated me well. Please let me know if you agree with the payment and also if you think this is a good deal re: MSRP and cap cost, etc.

I get $448/mo.+tax. Depending on your local rate, lease tax is either 9% or 10% in PA. If we assume 10%, then $493/mo.

But, I didn't account for acquisition fees, or any other charges. Ask for the adjusted CAP cost, to see what else is in the payment, besides the sale price.

The dealer put in a charge for wheel locks : $99, Theft : $199, Title service fee: $349, Tax : $2,225.31, Non tax Fees : $175.
Do those charges sound normal? Should tax be based on MSRP (52,380) or negotiated selling price? Should I be paying the full tax for the car for a lease? I live in Delaware where there is no sales tax but there is a 4.25% document fee.

And also, lease cash would be factored in as part of the Net Cap Cost, right?

Wheel locks and theft are pure profit for the dealer. Tax seems high, and we don't know how DE handles tax on a lease.
