Having a hard time understanding/calculating my lease with the current money factor and residual rate. I don't know the exact numbers used for my current lease below but when using the calculator online it brings up an extremely high number ( over $1,000 per month) so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone shed some light on this, and also let me know what you come up with when using the numbers below and the current numbers of .00018 and 55% (Keeping in mind I leased this vehicle in NJ in March, not April.

Obviously, I can't see what you are doing wrong, either..
But, I get $382/mo., so it looks like the numbers are pretty close..
Made my deal yesterday. Here is the offer. I put $2,000 down and agreed to $405/month. I used the lease calculator that JB15 posted from LeaseGuide. I noticed the MSRP was about $2K lower than my first offer in March and money factor was higher. My final price was $12/mo. lower than the first offer last month from same dealer in central NJ.
39 month lease with 12,000 miles per year MSRP $48,830 Sale Price $41,110 Money Factor .00018 Residual 54%
$459 per month sign and drive
The fees we are rolling into the payment are as follows: $459 first month's payment Documentation Fee- $299 NJ tax on Doc fee- $20.93 Lease Bank Fee- $700 NJ tax on Bank Fee-$49 NJ tire tax- $7.50 NJ Motor Vehicle fee-$425 NJ tax on lease $1,162.98
Not too painful after all.
Congrats on the new car!! Enjoy!
Congrats! I have a week with my new Q50 and I am loving it! I got almost the same deal as you, but I am glad I got it last month because the money factor was lower.
I guess the quote they gave me last week in March was really good...

How does tax work ok a lease so if cap cost is for instance 45k with 6% sales tax. Do you pay the sales tax up front or does that get calculated into the monthly?

Depends on your state/location.
I'm in pa and realized a lease tax is 9% not 6
That's correct.. Also, PA taxes the monthly payment, each month. Any taxable items paid upfront (acq.fee, cap cost reduction, etc) are taxed upfront.

A 39mo/15,000 miles $934 cash at signing which includes 1st payment
$538 per month
Msro $51690 Cap cost is $43,929 Residual is $26,878 Money factor is .00018
I'm showing $490.42/mo with tax for 39 months with those numbers.
Ask the dealer what the net cap cost is - might be higher than the number you've provided. If so, find out why.
Could it be that he worked in the tire and Wheel protection package into the monthly?

Something doesn't add up ... CA only taxes the monthly lease payment; not sure why they are adding over $3k of sales tax to your deal.
And, the MF is marked up. Base MF for RWD Q50 is .00032.
Definitely room for improvement on this deal.
So, what should I propose to them? Thank you dear sir.
Be polite and tell them you won't sign a deal with an inflated money factor.
Hi, I'm new to this and a horrible negotiator. So I'm asking for help. I'm interested in the following vehicle: 2015 Infiniti Q50 Sport AWD Navigation Package Deluxe Package Lease: 10k/39 months State Tax: NJ 7% MSRP: $51,225
How much should the payment be with no money down (to my understanding would be first month's payment)?

We'd have to know the negotiated selling price in order to model a payment. Read back through the last few pages of this thread to see what type of discounts others have been getting. You can also use the "make / model / year" pull downs at the top of the page to help with pricing.
Hope to get some guidance. My '14 q50 was totaled (some doofus thought it would be a good idea to do a U-turn on a 6 lane road without bothering to see if a car was coming from the other direction), last week. On a side note, aside from looking real nice these cars are flawlessly built. My 4 yr old was in car seat in back, so thankful we both walked away.
That was my third infiniti, and no doubt will be getting my 4th. Only issue is seems no matter how prepared I think I am, I always get a sub optimal deal. There are three dealerships within an hour from me. The last 2 were leased from the same dealership, which I went into yesterday. I didnt discuss numbers, I just wanted to get an idea of where Im at. The mgr said there was $3500 in incentives, but I am not sure if he is building that into what his negotiated price will be already, For example, if the car msrp is 45k, and we make a deal at 39k, then I say to take the $3500 off, he will say, no, the 39k is with the 3,500 off, or something similar.
Anyway, what I would like to do is just call him with all my ducks in a row with a number. Tell him that I will give him first right of refusal on that number if not I will offer it to the other dealerships. I need your help in deriving that number. I would like a premium either rwd or awd, no options needed. I need 12kmiles/year, no money down and would like to pay $375/month total (certainly not a penny above $400).
Can you guys tell me if this deal is asking too much, or can I even get better. More importantly how to ask for it. Thanks so much!

Glad to hear that everyone is OK. That's always most important.
For the replacement, you want to negotiate the best selling price possible. Yes, it's likely that any quote from the dealer will already include the incentives available. Read back through the last few pages of this discussion to see what others have been able to negotiate.
What lease term are you looking for? 36 or 39 months are the sweet spot at the moment.
36 or 39, whichever gives me the best deal. I looked through the pages, seems that deals are all over the place. Question, the MF is lower on awd opposed to rwd, but the awd has a higher selling price, would you know how much lower of a sales price would the rwd need to be to have a lower monthly payment, all things being equal other than MF?

Glad to see you both walked away from that crash. Where are you located? If you are in the North East, dealers might not have a RWD car in stock, only AWD so you might have to take what they have in stock for the best deal.

Ty, Im in florida, Im pretty sure they have bunch of both.
By the way, what should the MF be on a 36 or 39m/12k miles lease for an AWD and RWD. When I was in there yesterday, the mgr said it was .00032, I told him I read it was .0025, he said that was last month's. Is that correct?
monthly payment seems high to me. I was thinking the payment should be under $400. I am in NJ and the monthly payment at the bottom INCLUDES 7% NJ sales tax.

Is it 52% for 15/39 and 54% 12/39? Are 39 month terms the best right now for AWD? Some deals I have seen, just do not know how the payment is $467 ... I have seen tons of people on infinitiq50 forum receive payments in the $360-380 range with similar MSRPs...
Maybe I need to get more off? 13.2 is pretty good. I know some got over 15%

So with my tax... should be around $400 for 12K and $425 for 15K... thats at 13.2% off. If I can get 15% off... that would be a selling price of $36,800... that would be $1,000 extra off... what would my payment be then? Are you able to figure that out?

$36,800 selling price off that MSRP for 12 and 15k at 39 mo?
Every $1000 off the selling price results in a monthly payment savings of about $25.
And that gets me to where I want to be... $375 on 12K, with 1st month due.
I wonder if I tell them they are $30 off with their old calculations and I want 15.5% off not 13.2 and 12k for 375, with 375 due if they bite.
I personally don't like to play the "monthly payment game." Go in there with the price you want to pay, the non marked up money factor, & residual (this can't be messed around with). Don't be afraid to walk out. If it is doable, they'll chase you out the door or call you in a day or 2. The month is almost over and they need to move metal by the 30th.
It is very difficult to judge by what others are paying. They might have put a cap cost reduction either or used some equity from a trade as a down payment. There will always be someone who gets a better deal than you and always someone who ends up paying slightly higher than you do. All dealers are different and have different monthly sales targets.

I agree. Negotiating based on payment gives the dealer too much leeway to mess with the numbers. As suggested, work to get the lowest selling price, and ensure the base MF is being used.
What are the current MF and residual for 36 or 39 months, 15k on RWD,base? I got an offer for $0 down + tax and license due, $259/mo + tax for 39 months, 10K miles (msrp 38,895 and not sure of selling price and other details). Is this good? If I want to get 15k miles instead, how much more will the monthly payments be?

.00032 MF and 54% residual for 39mo, 15K/yr.
10K/yr to 15K/yr drops the residual by 3% (or $1166, in this case). That will add about $30/mo. to a 39 month lease.

I get $531.59 with those numbers. You sure there isn't anything else added into the cap cost?
I don't believe so, unless the last month payment and/or lease termination are included. I have the printout of the Lease Worksheet from their system. The payment is 531.55 at 18K which is about what you came up with.

Can anyone shed some light on this, and also let me know what you come up with when using the numbers below and the current numbers of .00018 and 55% (Keeping in mind I leased this vehicle in NJ in March, not April.

Obviously, I can't see what you are doing wrong, either..

That's correct.. Also, PA taxes the monthly payment, each month. Any taxable items paid upfront (acq.fee, cap cost reduction, etc) are taxed upfront.

Ask the dealer what the net cap cost is - might be higher than the number you've provided. If so, find out why.

And, the MF is marked up. Base MF for RWD Q50 is .00032.
Definitely room for improvement on this deal.

36mos. - $538
Tax rate is 8% California.
Thanks!
I'm new to this and a horrible negotiator. So I'm asking for help. I'm interested in the following vehicle:
2015 Infiniti Q50 Sport AWD
Navigation Package
Deluxe Package
Lease: 10k/39 months
State Tax: NJ 7%
MSRP: $51,225
How much should the payment be with no money down (to my understanding would be first month's payment)?

By the way, what should the MF be on a 36 or 39m/12k miles lease for an AWD and RWD. When I was in there yesterday, the mgr said it was .00032, I told him I read it was .0025, he said that was last month's. Is that correct?
Can someone provide me the MF and Residual for April in NJ on a 2015 Q50 AWD Premium.
MF / Resid. for 12k miles /yr and also for 15k miles a year.
Dealer said its .00018 for 39 months on both 12 and 15k mile yr options.
monthly payment seems high to me. I was thinking the payment should be under $400. I am in NJ and the monthly payment at the bottom INCLUDES 7% NJ sales tax.
2015 Q50 Premium AWD:
MSRP: $43,535
Selling Price: $37,752
Discount = $5783 or 13.2%
$0 factory rebate (that is what is listed on this sheet he gave me).
I do not have any leases in the household, and my employer does not qualify for any program.
800 Credit score with good income. (MF is .00018).
The Lease deal with $500 TOTAL OUT OF POCKET:
39 months / 12k miles yr = $443/mo (Residual = $23,508.90)
39 months / 15k miles yr = $467/mo (Residual = $22,638.20)

Maybe I need to get more off? 13.2 is pretty good. I know some got over 15%
36 month residuals are only 1% higher, so 39 months seems to be the sweet spot at the moment.

I wonder if I tell them they are $30 off with their old calculations and I want 15.5% off not 13.2 and 12k for 375, with 375 due if they bite.
Also, what incentives are there? I have loyalty (is that $1000?), what other incentives are there in FL. Thanks!!
It is very difficult to judge by what others are paying. They might have put a cap cost reduction either or used some equity from a trade as a down payment. There will always be someone who gets a better deal than you and always someone who ends up paying slightly higher than you do. All dealers are different and have different monthly sales targets.

10K/yr to 15K/yr drops the residual by 3% (or $1166, in this case). That will add about $30/mo. to a 39 month lease.

Why on the cars.com website the premium awd has a residual value of 51% at 36 months, and here I read 54%?
http://www.cars.com/go/alg/index.jsp?makename=Infiniti&modelname=Q50&year=2015
I can't answer the question about information contained on other websites - not my responsibility
RWD Premium - .00032 and 54%

QS50 Sport with Nav
MSRP $48,830
Cap cost $43,433
Residual 50%
Money factor .00018
Term 39 months
Mileage I went with 20K as I always go over on leases
Payment is $549.16 which includes CT sales tax of 6.35%
They will also pick up my last Maxima payment, not in the above and my lease termination fee, also not in the above. I will pay fees (about $1,500) and first payment up front/
Thanks.
