Just leased a brand new 2016 328i and got what I felt is an amazing deal in Northern California, so wanted to share with you all in case any of you are in the market for something similar. Keep in mind I qualified for both loyalty and fleet discounts, which helped get the cap cost down. Here is the lease breakdown:
MSRP: $45,895 Selling Price: $37,441 (includes fleet and loyalty) Acq Fee: $925 Cap Cost: $38,366 MF: 0.00116 (includes 0.00020 fleet reduction) Term: 36 Miles/yr: 10,000 Residual %: 66% Residual Value: $30,290.70 Base Payment: $303.96 Monthly Tax: $25.84 (tax of 8.5%) Total Payment: $329.79
This was a true "sign and drive" in that I did not pay any money out of pocket at lease signing. First payment and registration were rolled into the cap cost. Overall, I felt this was a great deal for a $46K car (especially with nothing due out of pocket at signing) and we are very happy with the purchase.
I should add that we decided against putting down MSDs due to the fact that we will likely transfer out of the lease before the end of the term. Therefore, finding someone to front the MSD cost during a transfer would be difficult.
Congrats! Thanks for sharing your deal details with us.
Hi there just reached out to dealer on a 2016 328i xdrive. Msrp is $47,735 and "internet price" which he says is $500 below cost is $42,235. I received fhe following back:
$599/ month $0 down plus 1st month's payment(includes all taxes, tag/title/registration fees, $925 lease acquistion fee and $299 dealer processing fee; includes BMW Special $1,500 option allowance) .00176 - Money factor(marked up 1% for profit from buy rate of .00136) 65% - Residual
any advice on how to respond? Why is the money factor marked up 1%? Also any room to negotiate on the price ? Thanks in advance.

you're being robbed. i usually don't comment on what other people are getting, but seeing these numbers made me a little upset that someone was being taken advantage of by a dealer in this way. you should be pushing for AT LEAST 15% off MSRP on a left-over 2016 328i. I'm sure this dealer has dozens of them on the lot. do not settle for any markup on the money factor and you should structure payment as first month (capitalizing all taxes and fees) + maximize multiple security deposits (you should be able to do 7). your total payment should be in the high $300s on this. assume you're doing a 12k lease b/c you're showing a 65% residual?

.00136 and 65% for 36/12. $1500 option allowance.
We don't track selling prices but that doesn't seem like enough of a discount - read back through the last page or two of this discussion to see what others are getting.
And, be polite but firm when you tell them you won't sign a deal with an inflated MF. They know what the base rate is.
Lastly, reach out to multiple dealers; the competition will get you the best terms.
Mike, the advice is much appreciated. I have browsed the board for what others have received and figured the inflated MF was not acceptable. Thanks again and I will post an update as it goes on.
Following is my correspondence after the advice I received above. Just to note I will not be purchasing my car at this dealership. I don't wish to deal with a salesperson who seemingly began sulking and stopped negotiating because I won't come into the dealership until I get a reasonable offer. The price he is referring to is posted on their website and is apparently $500 under cost. He originally quoted me a lease rate of $599 with an inflated MF and seems to think reducing that was a favor.
I may be in the wrong however but after seeing some of the numbers on this site, I don't believe I am too far off. Another dealer quoted me a lease of $737 per month on a 328i xdrive with premium package, drivers assistance and moonroof at an inflated MF. I asked to quote me based on the base and she told me she has to run my credit for that. Again, not true.
Me:
Thanks for the quick response. I don't wish to make a deal based on an inflated money factor. If you're able to give me the base rate and work on the sale price it would be fantastic. Thanks again for the quick response.
Salesperson:
We can consider giving up our last profit outlet on the rate Rajiv. However, I will need you to show good faith. I have been transparent throughout and will continue to do so as always. You can see my reviews online and on Bimmerfest. We already have our lowest sales price upfront.
Me:
I'd prefer to get to a point at least closet to where I am comfortable prior to coming in. Let me know what you can do per my prior email.
Thank you!
Salesperson:
We can do the buy rate of .00136. That saves you $30/month.
Me:
Great so you have no room to budge on the price correct?

I'm not sure where the problem is - you're getting the base MF. For BMW, 5-7% off sticker, before incentives, is a good target price.
Here is what that deal would look like...don't know your tax rate, so I used mine, Keep in mind your total due at signing including the acq fee would be somewhere between $1800-$2000 (not sure where you are located so cost would vary on this)
He quoted me $599 and said the drop in MF would reduce it by $30. If the price ends up at what you are saying I may be in the dealership this weekend.. It's likely that the difference is I am in Maryland and I believe the tax rate of 6.0% comes on the total cost of the vehicle rather than monthly payment. That brings it to $480 and additional fees rolled into the payment may bring it closer to what I was quoted.
I was dissatisfied with his response of "not dealing in good faith". This may be a good deal though.

Yes, MD taxes the entire selling price, even with a lease. Can pay up front or roll into the cap cost.
6% of $42,235 is $2534, or about $70/mo. Every $1000 of misc fees will add about $28/mo to the payment.

Still a long way from $446/mo to $599/mo
your target price on this lease should still be in the upper $300 range. dealers are pushing 2016s aggressively. with incentives, your sale price should be around 14% off MSRP. if you're in a state with lots of dealerships, you can easily play them against each other and lower the cost. this isn't that difficult to do, but requires negotiating and time. my current 328i is $45.5k sticker and leases at $360 a month, all-in. given deals that i have seen recently, even that isn't that great of a price...get it done!

Try not to parse every response, and take it personally. He is in auto sales, after all.
If you get the feeling they will stick with the deal you agreed to in email, make an appointment, and try to finish up. You are correct about MD taxes. 6% on the full price.
Wondering if this lease deal sounds good. I don't have all the specifics Car msrp is $50,520. I was told MF .00136 and residual 66%. 36 months 10k per year. No money down at all. $499 per month. I thought I saw on the screen a selling price of $43,520. Fully loaded 328xi with all the options in Illinois

Net cap cost seems to remain the question?.... I thought maybe it was the $43,520 but maybe it's slightly higher cause I'm rolling in taxes from Illinois. All that is due at signing is first month and registration

If your payments are $499/mo, and that's all that is due at lease signing.. then, that's a good deal.

Hello, Can I have numbers for 24/12k and 24/15k on a 340i? Also, I currently work for a company that owns a BMW store that says we will receive a discount of .20 basis points on lease rates; could you tell me what this translates to in terms of money factor? Thanks.

.00136 MF and 67%/65% residual. $1000 option allowance. 36 month residuals are just 6% less.
The discount likely makes the money factor .00116.

How does it look? Thank you.
Super cheap. Can you get by with 7500 miles? Going to 10K/yr only adds $12/mo.
$44,792 - Cap Cost .00136 - MF 12k Miles 36 Months
Also my numbers on the lease calculator are all over the place, what would the payment be in VA rolling in everything but first payment?
Thanks again,
lcharlton3
.00136 MF and 65% residual Rolling in the $925 acquisition fee (You'll have to find out your other costs, taxes, etc) $401/mo. Every $1000 in other costs adds $29/mo. to the payment.
I've got a deal from the dealer over the phone and planning to go in tomorrow. Before I go in, I'd like to see if this is a good deal and if there's anything I should watch out for in terms of numbers during the paper signing.
Dealer's offer: 2016 base 320i
MSRP: $34,145 Selling Price: Not Mentioned Acq Fee: $925 Term: 36 Miles/yr: 12,000 Total Payment: $304.11 (9% CA tax included) Cap Cost: Not Mentioned (Assuming Invoice($32,595) - $1,500 allowance - $1,000 loyalty = $30,095) MF: Not Mentioned Residual %: Not Mentioned Residual Value: Not Mentioned Base Payment: Not Mentioned Monthly Tax: Not Mentioned
Cash: Drive off of $945 (first month, registration and license)
Assumption and wasn't mentioned: - $925 acquisition was added to the payment -$1,500 incentive and $1,000 loyalty incentive added
Questions: 1. What is the break down of the drive off I should watch out for? (I feel like it's more than it should be) 2. Anything else I should watch out for beside the monthly payment and drive off cash? 3. How does the deal look?

First, the numbers - .00136 and 65% for 36/12.
If we add the acquisition fee to the cap cost, it becomes $31,020. With the MSRP listed and the lease numbers as above, I get $318/mo before tax.
So, get the adjusted cap cost from the dealer - your quote of $304.11 with tax looks pretty darn good by comparison, especially if it only requires $945 out of pocket at signing.
This is on a 2016 BMW 328i demo with 4k miles on it. Thoughts?
Zero out of pocket and $368/mo. (no trade?)
Did you take it?
0 out of pocket and $368 a month with no trade. I'm going to pick it up on Sunday. I got the idea of looking for a short term lease from some of the other forums of people talking about demo cars that are quite cheap. I was aiming for 20% off MSRP which is what this deal represents.
Just received a final quote before I go in tomorrow morning,
'16 320i xDrive , Sport pkg, navigation, driver assistance, moonroof, power/heated seats MSRP: $43,650 Sale Price: $38,411

7 MSD's and First month's payment = $3,120 due at signing.
Payment for a 36/10k = $390
They have not provided the MF/Residual yet. First time leasing a BMW, new to the element please let me know if this is a good/fair deal. Thank you for your time!

Thank you for responding so quickly and looking through my question with precision.
1. What cap cost should I verify with the dealer to match the $304.11 w/ tax payment to make sure they're being legitimate?
2. I can't remember the fees due at signing for BMW. I didn't want to sign the payment and ended up paying too much on drive off. Could I get a break down on what to expect as drive off at BMW?

My first payment is due in October.

6% of $42,235 is $2534, or about $70/mo. Every $1000 of misc fees will add about $28/mo to the payment.
Still a long way from $446/mo to $599/mo

If you get the feeling they will stick with the deal you agreed to in email, make an appointment, and try to finish up. You are correct about MD taxes. 6% on the full price.

Car msrp is $50,520. I was told MF .00136 and residual 66%. 36 months 10k per year.
No money down at all. $499 per month. I thought I saw on the screen a selling price of $43,520. Fully loaded 328xi with all the options in Illinois
$1500 option allowance.

Net cap cost seems to remain the question?.... I thought maybe it was the $43,520 but maybe it's slightly higher cause I'm rolling in taxes from Illinois. All that is due at signing is first month and registration

Dealer's offer:
2016 base 320i
MSRP: $34,145
Selling Price: Not Mentioned
Acq Fee: $925
Term: 36
Miles/yr: 12,000
Total Payment: $304.11 (9% CA tax included)
Cap Cost: Not Mentioned (Assuming Invoice($32,595) - $1,500 allowance - $1,000 loyalty = $30,095)
MF: Not Mentioned
Residual %: Not Mentioned
Residual Value: Not Mentioned
Base Payment: Not Mentioned
Monthly Tax: Not Mentioned
Cash: Drive off of $945 (first month, registration and license)
Assumption and wasn't mentioned:
- $925 acquisition was added to the payment
-$1,500 incentive and $1,000 loyalty incentive added
Questions:
1. What is the break down of the drive off I should watch out for? (I feel like it's more than it should be)
2. Anything else I should watch out for beside the monthly payment and drive off cash?
3. How does the deal look?
If we add the acquisition fee to the cap cost, it becomes $31,020. With the MSRP listed and the lease numbers as above, I get $318/mo before tax.
So, get the adjusted cap cost from the dealer - your quote of $304.11 with tax looks pretty darn good by comparison, especially if it only requires $945 out of pocket at signing.
