    Hi All,

New to the forum. If I ask something that's been discussed, please feel free to direct me appropriately.

I just entered year 2 of a 2 year, one pay on a 2016 Honda Accord LX. I've kept it clean (it still has the original new car smell), and is just shy of 9k. I noticed a 24-month, '17 330e one pay for $10K at the local BMW dealer in CA, but the usual lease info blurb (that details MSRP, fees, net cap, etc.) is missing from the page!

My current lease end residual is around $15K, and I'm allocated for 12K mi/yr, so I know the car will be "worth" more at disposition, as I was conservative on the mileage estimate at POS. I'm thinking if I went for the 330e now (a year early), they pay off the 15K amount (and dispo or any fees) to HF, give me a credit for the current wholesale value and factor in whatever they could get retail to chip into the 10K.

Is my thought process reasonable or does anyone see this playing out differently? I decided to post here before heading to dealer. Also, does anyone know 24/12 RV for the 330e?

    Thanks!

We don't have the 24 month numbers for BMW yet; hopefully, we'll see them in a day or two.

Your Accord has a payoff and a trade value; call Honda Finance for the former, and you can post in the "Real World Trade in Values" thread to get a sense of the latter. That will tell you if you have equity, or not, in your current lease.

At that point, you can walk into the BMW dealership confident in your numbers.

What are the July 2017 MF/residuals on 330i Gran Turismo 36mo/10k lease? I see that a $2,500 lease incentive just popped up on the BMW USA site, along with ~$1,900 dealer contribution recommended. When I am trying to recalculate the $399 lease deal on the site, the residuals and MF that would need to be used seem way off.

To get to the $399/mo lease payment, using MSRP listed at $47,345, Incentives of $4,404 ($2,500 lease incentive + $1,904 dealer suggested contribution) and down payment of $3,000 to a cap cost of $39,941 (also on the site), I'm having to use a residual of 66% and a factor of .00068 (around 1.5% interest). The lowest I can get the residual, using no interest rate, is 62.33% in order to arrive at $399/month. I feel like I'm missing something.

Are you accounting for the $925 lease acquisition fee?

Can you post the ad details here?

    Hello,

I just leased a 2017 330i XDrive. New Jersey Resident / New Jersey Deal

It was a June 2017 deal

    MSRP was: $48,395

The field on the lease that says "agreed upon value of vehicle" is: $43,723.68

The field on the lease that says "gross capitalized cost" is $44,878.07

I put a total of $1,500 cash out of pocket at signing.

*I was given the fleet discount as well.

my monthly payment is $499 x 36 (tax included.) 10k miles per year.

I don't know money factor, etc.

Based on this information, did i get a great deal, good deal, etc.

I'm just curious if they took decent care of me on this deal.

    Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply and the congrats! So in conclusion, your feedback of "decent" suggests that they deal was an acceptable one in your eyes? You know how it is. I just wanted to feel assured I wasn't "robbed" or anything. They swore it was a competitive deal when I tried to haggle further. They initially quoted 512 and I kept pushing to the 499 lol.

    Hello,

Wondering if you could look at this worksheet and give me your thoughts. The goal is no cap cost reduction and only paying drive-offs up front (Acquisition, doc, title/reg, tax) and a more aggressive %age off MSRP - this was the dealerships rebuttal. What am I missing?

    Thanks in advance

Just tell them you will pay first payment and registration costs up front (say, $1000) and have them re-run the numbers. Shoot for 7% off sticker, before applying incentives.

Lots of dealers out there; only takes one to meet your numbers.

I agree with the Mod here, you can do MUCH better than on the price of the car then what they are offering, Since the MY18 are arriving you should shoot for 9-11% off the price, regarding your down payment, why are you putting anything down, the car is coming with 2500 from BMWNA. That 2500 should handle all fee's and first payment and some Cap Reduction. Your payment of $541 is high for a 47K car. The goal should be 1% of MSRP as your payment. Also, don't let the dealer use that 2500 as a way to lower the sales price since that money comes from BMWNA and not out of the dealers pocket.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I appreciate it. My original ask was an aggressive 12% off with taxes and fees up front - his worksheet was way off but the way he using the lease credit and drive off $ looked funny; thanks for the confirmation.

    I'll update on progress.

    Hey guys
just registered  in this forum cause im
in the market to buy a new BMW !!
im gonna end up with about 9k of negative equity on my 3 series that I want to trade in so now from your experience what's the best way to handle this?
i contacted already some bmw declared in Nj area and I got one with 0.00161 MF on a 4 series 2018! Attached there is a spreadsheet with all the numbers! Can you please guys let me know if it looks correct to you ?
this is without my trade in tho !!!
If the numbers are correct I'm gonna go look for some  other cheaper bmw like 3 series  tho cause of my negative equity !!

How long can you wait to correct the negative equity?

$9000 works out to $250/mo on a 36 month lease.

NJ taxes the sum of the payments, so the tax amount looks incorrect - could that be for a purchase?

Yes, but you'll also be paying down the outstanding loan.

The negative equity will shrink the longer you keep the car.

I was in your shoes with my 2013, I had a lot of miles on my car 65K and I can say that I never had an issue with it after the 50K warranty was up but the value of my car was falling faster than a rock from an airplane. The moderator is correct is for whatever lease you are getting add $250, so the 2018 GC is 797+250 = 1040/m If you can afford that and you are happy to pay that do it, however, I wouldn't. Look for a service loaner, that has less than 5K miles on it, and work your deal on that car. My payments are on my 2017 330i is $148 more a month than my 2013. My total payments are less than the 2018 GC you got quoted my 330i is a lease. I'm happy with what I got and payments knowing I had to roll some negative equity into the new car. Hope this helps, if you want a GC, see if your dealer has a service loaner GC, but I'm thinking your best deal will be on a 330i.
  • mega8489mega8489 Member Posts: 24
I know it sounds crazy to pay 1040 for 4 series which I will never do that anyway!!
But yeah I guess I have to see if they have some loaner with about 4K on it so I can still lease them and get a cheaper monthly payment !!
Btw how much was your negative rolled in on the lease tho with a 148$ more??
    thank you for your help

Yes I know that but I might just put some money down to cover at least half of the negative equity for sure!!
so the numbers that the dealers gave me they look ok to you ? so at least I have a idea how much more I will end up paying adding my equity too!!!

I'm not a financial advisor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. :sunglasses:

It's generally not a good idea to take on new debt to attempt to wipe out old debt.

    Remember, you're still driving a 2013 BMW!

Use the money you were going to use for the down payment to pay down the loan on your current car.

Assuming $2000 covers first payment, $925 acquisition fee, and $450 dealer/DMV fees.
Assuming $1900 sales tax added to CAP cost, I get $511/mo.

That's a lot of assumptions, though. Ask for the adjusted CAP cost and an accounting of the $2000 upfront.

    Hello,

I was offered this for a 2017 330i in VA:

    Sales price - 42073
    RV - 62%
    MF .00151

With 2,000 down, monthly payment of $524.

    Thoughts?

    What is the MSRP?
    MSRP - 47725
    Dealer Savings - $3,152
    Sonic Price - $44,573
BMWFS Finance or Lease - $2,500

    $42,073 <----- Sale price</p>
Assuming $2000 covers first payment, $925 acquisition fee, and $450 dealer/DMV fees.
Assuming $1900 sales tax added to CAP cost, I get $511/mo.

That's a lot of assumptions, though. Ask for the adjusted CAP cost and an accounting of the $2000 upfront.
Sales price includes all fee. I will put 2k down. What would the monthly be in VA?

    Sales price - 42073
    RV - 62%
    MF .00151

I was curious about incentives. So BMWUSA has a $2,500 rebate for lease. I'm a USAA member and they have a 2,000 incentive + an additional $500 if you lease with BMW. Those are stackable so should equal $5,000 reduction in price AFTER negotiating the selling price? And those incentives come from corporate, not the dealership correct?

Is 7%-10% below MSRP a good target?

Can I get a MF & RV for the 2018 330e in Vegas. Also BMW is running a $5500 lease credit so I have that knocked off the price after the dealer discounts the MSRP, correct? I should ask for 8%-10% off of MSRP correct.
