    Hello,

Just returned from the dealer and here is the offer I received for a 2017 330i, please let me know if I should take the offer or how I can get a better deal:

    MSRP: 44,795
    Selling Price: 41,250
    Adjusted Cap. Cost: 38,743
    MF: .00151
    Residual: 62% (27,772)
Monthly with taxes: 442.67 (this includes BMW wear/tear/tire protection), 403.29 (without)
Drive off money down: 2500 which includes 1st month, registration, acquisition fee, document, and dmv

Do you recommend the wear/tear/tire protection? Covers up to 5000 in damages

This is for 3 years and 10,000 miles per

    Thanks!

I get $405/mo before tax with those prices; if your quote is less than my calculation but includes taxes, you should jump all over it.

Skip the tire and wear and tear packages - only the dealer benefits from these

Not much else you can do to improve on that.

Got it! Thanks so much, Michaell. Going to see if I can get another 1k out of it. I will probably pull the trigger tomorrow. Going to visit one more dealer.

A few questions for the experts. Trying to lease a 2017 340 and was curious on people's approaches. Do you negotiate the 7% (or so) off MSRP first and *then* take off dealer incentives and rebates? If that's the case, it seems like I'd be getting 16% off the MSRP if I were to do that in the deal below, which might be too aggressive. Please let me know your thoughts.

    MSRP: 60,300
    10k miles, 0.00151 MF, 62% resid.
The way the worksheet states it is:
Selling Price: $60,300, Discount: $3,180, Capitalized Taxes: $2,035.66, Gross Cap Cost: $59,170.66, Net Cap Cost Reduction: $3,000 (includes $2,500 lease credit and $500 corp fleet), Net Cap Cost: $56,170.66

Total Payment incl taxes: $663.07 at a 7.25% tax rate.

Up front cost: $1,981.22 includes $925 acq, $221 title, $172.15 doc fee, and first month's pmt.

What are the capitalized taxes? I thought I'd get taxed on the rebates up front then on each payment individually?

    Thanks!

Idetr2017, which state do you live in?! I wanted a new 330i but found them to be a bit pricey because there's not many left in CA so I opted to lease a fully loaded loaner, but my payments are about the same as yours...msrp is $46k though at 12k miles so I'm just curious.

IL calculates sales tax against the sum of the payments; if you choose not to pay them up front, then get added ("capitalized") to the cap cost.

That is our recommendation - if the car is stolen or totaled, the state won't refund you those pre-paid taxes, will they?

Yep, not with the state pension fund in the shape it is currently in.

Look on the bright side - you guys finally got a state budget passed!

Do you live in Chicago? If so, then the city assesses a sales tax on each lease payment, as well.

Do you know your credit score? They might be marking up the MF, in addition to the bump for credit.

Total Due At Signing: $1,300 including first month payment and fees
    Monthly Payment (incl. tax): $398.93

I get $365/mo plus tax, so looks to be in the ballpark.
Thanks, Michaell! I'm very happy you give it the green light. Appreciate the input.

It's likely that there is a money factor markup of .00030-.00040. in addition to the bump for your credit score.

Ok. You are probably right about the money factor. Is $592 good for that optioned of a car?

The MF bump (on top of the credit bump) is likely adding $30-50 to your payment.

Politely tell the dealer that you won't sign a deal where the MF is marked up beyond the base rate.

You might also want to consider shopping multiple dealers.

Ah you got a great deal! My rebate was only $2,500 (not a recent grad or returning BMW). If you're from up North I'll feel better lol.

Just came over after leasing a 2015 Audi A3 Quattro. Car is stronger and has a lot more add ons, however I have to turn the sport mode on to beat people at red lights or freeway on ramps. Never had to do that with my A3. It felt zippier. Thinking of keeping sport mode on 24/7 lol. What's the gas on doing that?

Haha I'm actually from SoCal, LA County. Yeah, I really lucked out with packaging all those rebates at the right time. I haven't really compared numbers honestly, usually comfort mode is good enough for me and found it to be just right. There are forums out there where people discuss like bimmerfest and bimmerpost and I have determined that the difference in gas is really insignificant between comfort and sport. I think you should be fine doing that! Would be cool if we found worthwhile data on this topic.

Saw some comments about pricing. I'm in NorCal. Getting a 330i service loaner with 4700 miles so qualifies for new car incentives. MSRP $48200. Selling Price under $39K. Then apply $3250 in incentives. With $1700 down (1 month payment, fees, taxes), I'm around $311 monthly.

Bro, that's a crazy deal. SoCal/OC area only had a $2,500 incentive. Does that include taxes? That's way below my '15 Audi A3 at $32k selling.

Does anyone know if rebates (ie, $2500 current lease credit on 3-series and corporate fleet incentive) are taxable? Thanks!

Everything but registration costs, which is why we recommend you roll those into the cap cost and payment.

    311 with taxes.
$2500 incentive + $750 loyalty (if you had a BMW previously)

    rebate : 2500
    adjusted cap cost : 52612.00

    8.25% sales tax...

Came out to be 669.33 per month, seems kind of high isn't it? using Edmund's lease calculator, I got $571 a month.

I'm in IL, car will be registered in the suburbs, so no use tax.

    I get $624/mo.

When you use the calculator, leave the tax amount blank, as it's already added into the CAP cost.
Don't subtract your $3500. That's accounted for in the "cash cap reduction". (the rest of the $3500 is the first payment and probably DMV fees).

They are either marking up the money factor, or adding in some charges they haven't disclosed.

2107 320i xdrive: premium pkg, driver assist, cold weather pkg, coming off of being courtesy car. 2300miles
    MSRP 45870
    Sales price: 40877
    Rebate: 2500

    MF: 0.00191
    Dealer fee: 599
    Aquisition fee: 925
    Monthly payment of 455.

    OTD: 1979

They want to throw in cash back of 380 (to cover my last monthly lease payment) and 350 (to pay my end of lease fees).

I can't get over the MF mark up which they will not budge on.

If the sales price is before the incentive, that 11% discount is pretty strong, even for a demo.

If you push for the base MF, the dealer may want to claw back some of that discount.

You'll have to decide which approach gives you a better payment.

.00151 and 61% - less 4% and .25/mile for the demo miles. That will kill your lease payment.

At that point, it's probably better to go with one that's new - or, find a loaner with less than 5000 miles on it. That way, you only pay the .25/mile charge, not the 4% drop in residual.

That seems like a pretty good payment, relative to MSRP. Doubt you can lease a new one for any amount close to that
