I'm not entirely sure. But I think it's about 45-46k.

That's an integral part of determining the residual amount. Need to know the exact number.

In the market for a 320xi (my current 320xi lease ends in Feb-18, but b/c I'm over on miles, I'm looking to end early). I'm in NY.

    MSRP $39,955
Cap cost $37,950 (discount off MSRP 5.0%)
Adjusted cap cost $35,625 (discount off MSRP 10.8%) (includes rebate of $-3,250 + acq fee of $925)
    36/10
    Residual 62% / MF 0.00151
    Monthly payment $393
Due at signing $2,291 (includes tax upfront)

Anyone have any thoughts? The 5% discount off MSRP doesn't seem too exciting (before rebates). Since I am over on my current lease miles by ~2k miles ($400), I'd ask dealer to waive fee on those as well.

    Thanks!

I'd push for 7% off sticker, before incentives.

And, roll the taxes into the lease payment, as well. If the car is stolen or totaled, you think Gov. Cuomo is going to refund you those pre-paid taxes?

Not sure if you'll get the mileage charges waived, but it can't hurt to try.

Oh. My bad, for some reason I thought residual is calculated based on cap cost and not the MSRP.

It is $45,245. 8.25% Sales Tax.

    Thanks!

I received the following offer for a 340i xDrive. This wasn't the exact build I was looking for and the MSRP of this one is higher than I wanted...but the 2017 inventory is getting quite low, so I don't have many options.

The selling price discount seems reasonable to me at 8%, but i'm a bit confused as it also shows a $3000 rebate which I can't seem to work out how they've applied. How did this end up with the adjusted cap cost of $54,066?

You can't just pay the overage on your mileage, and then end your lease seven months early. There will be a substantial cost to exit your lease. Have you gone over that with the dealer?

If so, and adding $925 for the acquisition fee

$337/mo+tax, with first payment and dealer/DMV fees due at signing.

If so, the CAP reduction from the rebate is reduced from $3000 to account for the first payment and tax on the CAP reduction.

A quick question. Since it has a mileage of less than 5000 miles, shouldn't the residual remain at 62/61%? Also is the residual amount calculated based on MSRP?

    Is it a good deal?

For demos and service loaners under 5000 miles, the residual is adjusted by .25/mile from the calculated residual from MSRP.

Example - MSRP is $45000, residual is 60%, car has 4000 miles on it.

    Residual is (45,000 * .6) - (4000 * .25) = 27,000 - 1000 = 26,000

Thanks, I actually did discuss this point since my last post, and dealer indicated BMW would only waive 3 months of payments, therefore, the pricing he quoted already reflects this cost worked in instead of (I presume) applying a further reduction to the selling price. As you suggest, it doesn't make sense for me to enter a new lease until November (3 months before lease end). Hopefully there will still be 2017 deals or other comparable incentives at that point. The dealer also mentioned 7% discounts off MSRP reflects pricing of 4 months ago, but I don't see how this comment makes sense given we are acknowledging I am eating $1.1k in costs in the current proposed deal. I only anticipate putting on an additional 1k miles over the next 3 months ($200 @ $0.20 / mile).

The residual is reduced by $0.25/mile. So, $904 reduction. That just happens to work out to almost exactly 2%, in this case.

If I subtract $3500 from the CAP cost, I get $234/mo.+tax

Neither of those prices accounts for tax on rebates.

Did they quote you a payment?

Thanks for explaing it! I am in WA state, but working with an out of state dealer who didn't know what tax rate to quote for me so he just added the state max (10%). I assume the 1050 license fee was also a guestimate as most in-state dealers seem to charge around $700 for that. I will ask him to correct these details.

Aside from those oddities...what do you think of the quote? I was thinking that the reduction from $58k to $51k (with rebate added) is probably quite reasonable? With that said...the MSRP is higher than I wanted and therefore even with great discounts I am still at a fairly uncomfortable less price after tax. Aside from asking for another $1k discount on the selling price, is there anything else I can do to improve this deal?

Not much you can do beyond the selling price.

You may have to adjust your budget if you're uncomfortable with the resulting lease payment.

The price is okay, and the tax probably isn't too far off. However, you should check on that $1050 fee. That's huge and doesn't seem right. Other than that, not a bad deal.

Brand new to leasing! With the help of an auto buying service, got offer for new 2017 330i MSRP $46,670, Sales price $44,150, $2500 rebate, so $41,650 after rebate, 36/12. MF of .00151. 61% residual. Will pay $2500 up front to include first payment, registration, etc. I was quoted a monthly payment of $465/month before taxes. I was told this is a fair deal. Does this seem reasonable?

I get $472/mo with those numbers; your quote looks competitive by comparison.

However, there may be a bit more of a discount from sticker you can get - you are at 5.4% off MSRP, target 7%

I was told by the car buying service it is the rock bottom price. Do you think it's worth walking away over not getting the target 7%? My preferred options on this car was hard to find currently available.

Only you can decide if the price is fair, especially if you have a specific list of options. Pickings are getting slim at this time of year.

Have you considered that you could get a better price if you negotiated on your own, and cut out the middle man?

Thank you so much. A couple of quick questions: Do think the BMW Ultimate Care is worth the $600 on a lease since it covers brake pads (I guess brake pad are no longer covered on the standard warranty anymore and can be expensive to fix on a BMW)? Also, have there been any notable differences between the South Africa models versus the one made in Germany that you know of?

A couple of quick questions: Do think the BMW Ultimate Care is worth the $600 on a lease since it covers brake pads (I guess brake pad are no longer covered on the standard warranty anymore and can be expensive to fix on a BMW)? Also, have there been any notable differences between the South Africa models versus the one made in Germany that you know of?

What else does it cover? Just adds brake pads? If that's it, I'd take my chances.

BMW has been assembling 3-Series vehicles in South Africa for over 15 years (at least). No one has ever connected SA vehicles to anything negative vs. German made models.

thanks for everyone's help on this forum.

Just did 320i metallic silver xDrive +tint+mats
    36/10 lease
    MSRP 42955
    2500 rebate
    Monthly Payment 389
    Monthly Payment w tax: 425
Got $650 cash back to cover last months lease and disposition fee.
    MF: 0.00151
Money Down: 925 (acquisition fee), 425 (1st months payment), 199 (dealer fee), 90 (registration)

Maybe could have pulled more out of sales price, but i'm happy.

    thanks to Kyfdx and Michaell

I received the following offer for a 340i xDrive. This wasn't the exact build I was looking for and the MSRP of this one is higher than I wanted...but the 2017 inventory is getting quite low, so I don't have many options.

The selling price discount seems reasonable to me at 8%, but i'm a bit confused as it also shows a $3000 rebate which I can't seem to work out how they've applied. How did this end up with the adjusted cap cost of $54,066?

Which state is this, where the tax rate is over 10%?
    Also, license fee for $1050???!!
Looks like this quote is for sign and drive? Not even first payment due at signing?
If so, the CAP reduction from the rebate is reduced from $3000 to account for the first payment and tax on the CAP reduction.

The price is okay, and the tax probably isn't too far off. However, you should check on that $1050 fee. That's huge and doesn't seem right. Other than that, not a bad deal.
Thanks all. I eventually went for a different deal after shopping around a bit more and then asking my favorite local dealer to beat the best quote I had received.

Sorry, I don't have all of the numbers to hand, but I ended up with a 330i xDrive which had some great options including the M-sport package. The MSRP was ~$51k and I ended up with $2k due at signing (to take care of acquisition, doc fee, license, and 1st month payment) and then a $530 monthly payment inc. tax (36/10). Most other dealerships walked away at $550 a month and said they couldn't go any lower....so that was my main indication that the $530 offer was probably good. Thanks!

    Hi, I got a deal:
    California
    MSRP 55k
    Selling Price 51k
    Down 3.5k
    Incentives 5.5k
Cap Reduction 6.4k (After all the fees and first month payment)
MF for me is 0.00161 for some reason.
    36/10k

Do you think this is doable?

    Thank you!

$3500 out of pocket from you?

If so, too much - your out of pocket should only be the first payment and DMV costs.

Or, you could use the $5500 of incentives to cover those costs and have $0 due at signing.

7% off MSRP is a good start, but that may explain why they've bumped the MF up a bit.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. Yes, $3500 out of pocket. They told me BMW financing asks for that much down. Is it negotiable?

The monthly payment is 410 plus tax.

If you have top tier credit, then BMWFS doesn't care if you have money down. You can structure the lease with as little, or as much as you want.

We don't have information on those programs, but both would seem to be compatible with a lease.
