Hi. I am back with a few follow up questions I hope you can help me with:

Washington State - Looking at the current "Special" lease on a 2017 AWD Highlander XLE.

My questions is, do dealers negotiate off of these types of widely advertised specials? I see several people on here showing an MSRP for a similar vehicle in the low $40,000, but their sales price is more like $36,000-$37,000.

Should I go in and try to negotiate for a lower sale price from the MSRP, or is there a different item that should be negotiated? Never leased, always just paid cash, but can get a better return on my money elsewhere right now, so considering a lease this time.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, you want to negotiate a discount from sticker when leasing, just like a purchase. You should be able to beat the numbers from an ad deal.

Just stopped by a los angeles area toyota dealer, they said that for the XLE I was looking at, the 0.00133 is a 'special' rate that you can't apply MSD's to. That the 'regular' rate is 0.00225. Any ideas? Thanks!

That's quite possible. Some banks only allow MSDs to be applied to the standard MF, not any that are discounted.

But, check with multiple dealers and see if you get a consistent answer.

We are rolling in taxes and fees in the monthly payments. Only 1st month's payment of $467 is due at signing.

We are rolling in taxes and fees in the monthly payments. Only 1st month's payment of $467 is due at signing.

Those numbers give me a payment of $366/mo plus tax.

Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost, and how they got to that number from the selling price.

Any cash due at delivery?

Those are liability limits. I wouldn't recommend anything less than those numbers. That's not where you want to save money on a lease deal. Those limits protect you (and others), not the bank that is leasing you the vehicle.

Nice stealership, $100 extra a month in complete mystery charges on a lease and for good measure they want you to decrease your liability limits on the insurance. Go to a different dealer.

66% for the XLE

The other two numbers are correct.
