@shand32783 Just leased a Highlander SE today from Olympia Toyota. By FAR the least complicated and best experience i've ever had with a dealership. Zero BS or games, or hard sales. Plus they let me use the 9MSDs and didn't mark them up like i've had others try. I've been communicating with well over a dozen dealerships this last few weeks and they were super straight forward and transparent. I live in Van Wa and they actually did a dealer trade to get the exact one I wanted from another dealership I tried working a deal with. They had the driver pick me up on his way back to Olympia to save the hassle of getting a ride. I can give you my salesman's email or cell number if interested.

I'm looking at the 2017 Highlander XLE in Ohio. They have a front wheel drive on the lot but also looking at the AWD. Could you give me the money factor on a 36 month, 15,000 mile lease? Could you also give me the residual the FWD and AWD models if they are different? Thank you!

We don't have the Ohio numbers for May, but the MF is likely .00133
    63%/64% residual for FWD/AWD.

    Down Payment -3000
    Total Drive Off-3725
    Residual 26500
    MF-0.0012
    12k/36 month lease
    $395 monthly payment

can you guys post ur thoughts about this deal

    cr4zyj4ck,
I am curious about what the 3,725 payment consists of. I suspect at least $2,500 if not more is being applied to the Sale price to lower your price ( the adjusted cap cost) hence low monthly payment.

I just drove off the lot with the following deal this morning.

    2017 Highlander XLE AWD
    MSRP - $41189
    Sale price - $36696
    36 mo, 15K/yr
Paid only tax, dmv and 1st payment at closing ($1647.50)
    Payment - $381.20/month

This is at a residual of 64% and MF of .00120 in Albany, NY.

To those of you who are currently shopping, I have to be honest that I had to fight quite a bit to get this deal, and I'm not sure they meant to sell it to me at this price. I started this process about a month ago by getting a bunch of Edmund Price Promise quotes. I then went back to all the dealers with the best deal (sale price of $37685 on an MSRP of $41433 and a payment of $406) and asked if they could beat it. Some couldn't, but this dealer said they could and that my monthly payment would be $10/month less. I went into the dealership to finalize the specifics and then things started to get squirrelly.

I caught many things immediately (incorrect tax rate, lower MSRP vehicle, over estimation of DMV fees, etc), but even once all of it was fixed, I was calculating a different payment. They were quoting me $395, but I was calculating $381. They continued to tell me that the payment was the payment, and that I must be miscalculating. I started to get irritated because math is math. There is no gray area or allowance for different answers, and I knew my calculations were right. After going through the numbers for probably the 10th time, I noticed that the numbers on their purchase order didn't add up. There was a hidden $600 fee that wasn't listed anywhere but was added to the net cap cost. They claimed it was a "mistake or computer error." Yeah, sure buddy.

So ultimately, I ended up with a much better deal than I went in there to get, but I think it's possible that they agreed to a lower selling price to get me in the door, while expecting to make it up in the hidden fee. Either way, my diligence paid off!

    kpwin17,
Congratulations on your new vehicle. I always check the numbers myself. many times picked up hidden fees. Had wrong miles placed once and was corrected.

    NY collects sales tax upfront
    +$650 acquisition fee.
    +1st payment and DMV
    +$75 doc fee.

    That's probably $2700 of it.

I thought NJ is the state that wants sales tax upfront.

Looking at numbers on SE 3yr/36k and 45k lease in the 98445 area code. I believe the 12k is 67% so would the 15k be 65% with .00133 mf?

    Thanks

When do the lease numbers for the month come out? I am a first time leaser trying to get my wife into a highlander and will be busying myself reading over the forum today to familiarize myself with the mechanics. I understand the basic of leasing but would like to get a little more familiar before heading to the dealership.

My other question is in theory, whether or not the residual values for the new models coming out in the fall would equate to a lower monthly comparable to the lower Purchase price one could expect on a 2017 model.

I am interested in FWD and most likely the XLE models, but may consider the LE Plus if the SofTex seating is acceptable for her.

For Toyota, the current residual values are valid until 5 July. The MF numbers expire today, and it likely won't be until Friday that we get the new program numbers.

Hard to predict what the numbers will look like for the 2018's. In general, a higher residual equates to a lower payment, all else being equal. But, not everything else is equal - as you've noted, there could be different discounting available, and the MF may be different, as well.

Thanks Michaell! I guess the residual numbers are not monthly as I expected so the July 5th numbers will probably be the most pertinent to me since we arent doing anything till the end of the summer. Are the MF numbers on a monthly basis?

Yes, new MF numbers tend to be released monthly.

Residual numbers are updated quarterly for Toyota - so, the July numbers are likely to be valid through the end of September.

For purposes of checking my calculations which I will carry to the dealership...What are RV and MF numbers on an RWD XLE in South Carolina? For practice sake can we say a MSRP of 41,627 and a Cap Price of 38,457?

Also, are there any incentives I should be privy to? It looks like the College Grad program excludes SC and the Highlander.

    Thanks in advance

I saw that a few times in the thread and thought it may apply to SC. I guess best bet is to get that from the several dealers and check to see if any of the MF is being padded above my comfort level. Thanks for the help

It's a very different business model in that part of the country. No connection to the numbers for the rest of the US.

If you live in SE toyota area, must go with the distributor JM. I can only tell you that you may want to ask for feedback on those who have leased in the SE. I have seen residual better on certain models and at times seen the money factors also higher. Try to analyze the deal and see if it makes sense.

    Hello,

Looking for 36/15 numbers and incentives on a limited platinum and limited for NY. Also any idea of buying a few thousand extra miles? We really need about 17k per year. Thanks again guys!

60%/61% residual for LTD/Platinum, assuming AWD.
We don't have the NY docs, but MF is likely either .00133 or .00220.

The extra 6000 miles will likely add about $20/mo. to the lease payment.

    65%/66% residual for FWD/AWD
Assuming FWD and estimating $3400 for taxes, acquisition fee, DMV fees, I get $553/mo.

    Of course, I don't have the actual numbers. I assumed $2400 tax, $650 acq.fee and $350 for title/dealer fees.
Ask the dealer for the actual adjusted CAP cost, and an itemization of what's added to the sale price to get that number.

    Residual Value: 26800
Monthly payment with taxes : 579.70
And down payment asked was advance of 579.70. Can you please let me know what should be the right amount or how should i calculate?

    Thanks
    Aj

    65%/66% residual for FWD/AWD
Assuming FWD and estimating $3400 for taxes, acquisition fee, DMV fees, I get $553/mo.

    Of course, I don't have the actual numbers. I assumed $2400 tax, $650 acq.fee and $350 for title/dealer fees.
Ask the dealer for the actual adjusted CAP cost, and an itemization of what's added to the sale price to get that number.

Thank You for immediate response , I will ask.

    65% residual

Don't have AZ area, but it's most likely either .00133 MF or .00220.
