Now I understand. I was in a contact with my dealer and was asking him politely to lower down the money factor to the base rate (0.00177) but this is his reply "I have spoken to our manager and unfortunately we are not able to provide you the rate you would like. If you accept our rate I will be more than happy to provide you a quote on the q5 you are interested with." Given this, should i assume that there's no room for negotiation? The dealer is Audi Palo Alto in Northern California.

Also, if we compare MF between dealers, is it required for every dealer to check my credit? Does it leave hard pull or hard inquiry in my credit? Thanks in advance

Dealers are becoming more savvy on lease negotiations - you can either get a big discount in price but an inflated MF, or the base MF and a smaller discount.
You'll have to run the numbers both ways, to see which results in the better deal.

If the pulls are all done in a 30 day window, it only counts as one hit against your credit.

The credit scoring is done by the bank; we don't have the information that shows us what score qualifies you for the top tier MF from Audi Financial.

We suggest you roll them into the cap cost and make them part of the payment.

Up front costs should be limited to the first payment (which is waived this month) and any DMV or registration costs.

Has the MF or Residual changed in the past couple of days? Someone in the LeaseHackr forum posted this deal https://www.audicrevecoeur.com/specials/new.htm. If you view the link it shows a 2018 Q5 with MSRP of $49,650 at $478 per month for 36/10k with $0 down, taxes, tag and gov't fees extra. The only way I can get that price in a lease calculator with MF of .00177 and Residual of 61% is to drop the sales price down 14% from MSRP.

Yes, MF is .00177, so that is marked up.

60% is the correct 36/12 residual.

We do not recommend any money down - normally, just first payment (this is covered by Audi, this month) and RMV costs. Roll all other taxes and fees into the lease payment.

Ask for the breakdown of the up front cash.

Walk away. Quickly. Dealers love to confuse customers with an avalanche of numbers, then spit out a lease payment and a pen to sign the paperwork with.

There are four numbers to focus on with a lease:

MSRP - the bottom line number of the factory window sticker
Adjusted cap cost - this is the negotiated selling price, plus the taxes and fees you aren't paying up front (and, you don't want to pay any of them up front)
Money Factor - set by the bank, but can be marked up by the dealer (as is the case here)
Residual value - also set by the bank, but cannot be altered by the dealer

Ask the dealer for the selling price and the adjusted cap cost, with a full breakdown of how they got from one number to the other.

Also, politely tell them you won't sign any deal where the MF is inflated.

If they balk on any of this, walk. Plenty of dealers out there; only takes one to meet your numbers.

GA taxes the entire selling price for a lease - need to know if you are paying that up front, or adding it into the lease payment.
