    Hey all - can someone help evaluate this lease. Feel like it’s a strong deal, but want to confirm.

    2018 Q5 Premium Plus
    SoCal
    MSRP = $47,175
    Selling Price = $42,276
    Rebates = $750 loyalty + 1st payment free
    36/10K
    Residual = 61%
    MF = .00177 (drops to .00132 with 9 MSDs)

    Due at signing = $609 (registration/DMV and taxes) + MSD
    Monthly = $501 including tax

    Considering adding Audicare which would have a net cost of ~$450 over the 36 months.

    Thanks!

    Audi Care is $869 so it reduces your payments by $419 over 36 months or a bit over $10 a month?

    I don't think I've seen this asked yet - does Audi making the first payment reduce the Adj Cap Cost, or just count towards money due at signing? Thank you.

    Counts as a rebate to reduce the money due at signing.

    Thanks, not sure what’s causing the slight difference there.  Overall would you say it’s in attractive lease package?  Over the “1% rule” but not sure there’s more room.

    It's not a rule, but more of a guideline.

    And, Audi's do not lease all that well, compared to their competitors.

    If you're happy with the selling price, everything else looks good.

    I get $417/mo, plus tax, with those prices.

    Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost they used for their payment quote - this would be the selling price plus any fees you aren't paying up front.

    I don't believe it was either. I have a picture of the actual sticker on the car thou. It just says S sport package.
    I was going to leave after the saleman would't tell me the MF when I asked twice but then he had the manager come over to feed me some BS.

    Multiple Security Deposits
    By making extra refundable security deposits, AFS lowers the money factor by .00005 for each one
    I believe there is a maximum of 9 MSDs, for a total money factor reduction of .00045.

    Dealerships in SoCal must desperate, I got the following offers:

    $550 due at signing
    12K miles
    36 months
    Prestige Plus

    1) MSRP $49,985 / $553 pre tax
    2) MSRP $51,985 / $556 pre tax

    and finally......

    3) MSRP $51,410 / $506 pre tax. I had to call this guy twice to double check he didnt quote me the wrong car, but sure enough, he says it's a real offer. I even showed this offer to 1) and 2) and they said I am basically getting better than the employee discount of over $8k off MSRP.

    Is this too good to be true?

    Hi,

    Closed a deal on a SQ5. Wanted to know if you recommend Audi care and Audi's wear and tear program for $1068 (covers up to 10k), and why you do or don't...can't make a decision on these two things.
    Thanks in advance!

    It's $869 for the AudiCare. Is it only $199 more for wear and tear?

    AudiCare is a good deal, because by purchasing it, your residual goes up by 1%. On a $65K MSRP vehicle, that lowers your costs by $650, meaning your net cost is only $219. That's very cheap for scheduled maintenance for 36K miles.

    I generally avoid wear and tear, but if it's only $199 extra, I'd be inclined to get it. But, that seems extremely cheap. Check on the pricing, and make sure of the numbers. If it's $1068 more, in addition to paying for AudiCare, then just say no. What's a realistic estimate of what you might owe at lease end? Don't be swayed by the $10K coverage, if that's something you would never need. I've had at least 8-10 leases, and the highest charges I've ever had for damage was $70.

    I get $613/mo.+tax with those numbers, so the math is good.
    $1600 should cover DMV fees and $895 acquisition fee, plus tax on acq.fee and first payment rebate.
    That makes your discount over $5000. Not sure you can do much better. If they want $1500 more to drop the payment to $600/mo, that's not a price concession, that's just math.

    .00183 and 63% (Premium Plus) or 62% (Prestige)

    Can't really evaluate your deal as the numbers you've provided are for a purchase - PA taxes the monthly payment for a lease, and there is no mention of the $895 acquisition fee that is charged. The number you want from the dealer is the adjusted cap cost.

    And, we do not recommend so much up front cash - just first payment and registration costs should be paid at signing.

    I can tell you that the discount from sticker is pretty small - just over 3%. For Audi, we recommend you target 6% off sticker - roughly $61,500.

    Thank you for the feedback Michaell, I appreciate it.

    The numbers are or were supposed to be for a lease. Would the MF and residual be different if it wasn't a Premium Plus or Prestige? The sticker doesn't mention either in it but just says S Sports package.

    I'm just not used to dealing with Audi as this would be my first if I wind up leasing the car. However, as I said I appreciate the info you gave me on the 6% target. If you could let me know about the MF and residual so I can try to target a payment on my own from them that'd be helpful also.
    Thanks

    Deal I was quoted was for an SQ5 in PA.
    retail was 65,545
    selling 63,350
    fees 499
    Sales tax 3801

    3k down
    Lease 3yrs/12k was 913.28

    They wouldn't tell me MF or residual.
    Thoughts?

    When you ask for details and they won't give you the information? That's when you leave.

    Is it Prestige or Premium Plus?
    Are you able to give me feedback on this deal or at least let me know what the MF and residual is for Audi right now?
    .00183 and 63% (Premium Plus) or 62% (Prestige)

    Thanks
    MG
    I did provide you with the MF and residual in my last response.

    Look at the window sticker - if there is a "Prestige" package on it, then that's the trim level. If not, then it's the "Premium Plus" (aka base) SQ5.

    ***The wear and tear alone is $1068 and they said it covers everything including tires etc...

    Yeah.. I wouldn't buy that. What if you need tires with 6 months left in the lease? Do you drive on bald tires, because they are free at the end? Keep your $1068, and you'll have that money to spend when needed. (or, keep, if nothing needed)

    I'm just learning about Chicago's additional 9% tax on top of normal sales tax for leases, which means an unbelievable total of 19.75% tax on monthly payments. Some of the dealerships are recommending Premier Purchases instead of leases, but I can't find much information on this type of deal. Is there anything in particular I should look for when negotiating a Premier Purchase as opposed to a lease? Specifically for Q5 PP (if leasing, was going to do 36/10k).

    Can someone please give me the MF and residual on an Audi Q5 Prestige in Southern California? Looking for either a 36/10 or 36/12. Thanks!

    Going back to Audi Care, in my case of a 36/10 lease for a 2018 Q5, adding AudiCare would have a net cost of ~$400 over the lease.  With 2018 models, the initial 10K maintenance is covered and then you have to complete the 20K (or 2yr) and 30K (or 3yr) maintenance.

    Does anyone know if I’ll be required to complete the 30K/3yr maintenance before returning the car? I’ll almost certainly not hit 30K miles and 3 years is obviously the exact lease term so not sure if I’m on the hook for that service. If not, Audi Care would only cover the 20K service so likely not worth ~$400. Thanks!

    Have you priced out the service costs?

    Require? If you won't get to 30K on the odometer, I don't see how anyone can force you to perform the service before you turn in the vehicle.

    OK so if you return the car with 29,999, you won't be required to do that 30k service?
  • kjain07kjain07 Member Posts: 7
    Agree they can’t require at 30K, but the maintenance plan says 10k/1yr, 20k/2yr, and 30k/3yr. I’m assuming the 3yr service isn’t required if you don’t hit 30k.

    Again, the use of the word "require". If the car is in otherwise great shape, I don't see how the lack of the service would affect any end of lease charges you would owe.

    OK, I am revising my position (I'm angling for a career in politics if this moderator gig doesn't work out).

    The service intervals are EITHER time-based OR mileage based.

    Let's flip the script - if you drive 10K in the first 8 months of the lease, the maintenance minder would suggest you get the 10K service done; same at 20K, 30K, etc.

    I only put 6K on my Jetta lease in the first 12 months. The maintenance minder started to remind me a few weeks before the 365 days was up. I'm going to be nowhere near my mileage allotment (12K per year) when the lease is over. Should I get my 3 year service done before I turn my car in?

    Talk to me in the summer of 2019, and I'll let you know.

    But, still not sold on the idea of "required". If it isn't in the lease paperwork, I'm not sure where you would be, legally.

    I’d bet the three year service is required, regardless of mileage. And, I’m sure that properly servicing the car is required in the lease agreement.

    I thought the lease contracts stipulates that service must be performed in accordance with the maintenance plan, and I assumed that they would charge a fee if that’s not the case. That’s why I’m asking about the 3yr service on a 3yr lease but seems like no clear answer.
