Today I went to a Chicago dealership and I was offered the following for a $53,000 MSRP Audi Q5 Premium Plus:



I was able to get 11% of the MSRP + $3250 lease incentive (2250 + 1000 company loyalty). In total this brought down the cap cost to 43,925. They confirmed they are using 53% RV and the base MF @ 0.00147. The vehicle would be registered in Rosemont, IL (Cook County) but outside of the city of Chicago. The tax rate is therefore 8.25%

My math shows that the payment should be 590.75 a month with 0 down. I did not count the doc & lic fees @ 396.94 as these will be paid with the first payment.

Where are we going wrong if they say they are using all the right numbers?

Where are the taxes and fees? IL taxes the sum of the payments and collects it up front - if you aren't paying them at signing, then it will be added to the negotiated price.

Same with the $925 acquisition fee and any dealer fee, plus the registration costs.

The number the dealer needs to provide you is the adjusted CAP cost, with all those fees (and others? this is where the dealer can slip stuff in) accounted for.

That likely is the difference between your payment and theirs.

I could use MSDs to lower the payment by $35 or so. But that's a lot of cash to tie up ($6,000ish) for only $35 a month reduction.

Given the stronger residuals on the SQ5, I think I can swing a SQ5 with a low 60's MSRP for about $685-695 month.

Can you amend your spreadsheet to show the adjusted cap cost - if I add the acquisition fee, the doc fee and the taxes to the selling price, I get $50,515. Wondering if you are using the same number.

Look at your MSD a different way.

The $35/mo you are saving equals $1260 over the life of the lease.

That's a 7% annual return on the $6000 up front investment.

Where else are you going to see that kind of return.

And, you get the $6000 back at the end of the lease.

OK, If I subtract the incentive from your cap cost, I get the same payment.

At this point, the difference between your calculations and the dealer is one of two things:

1. CAP cost is different
2. MF is different (read: dealer marked it up)

Yes, $1000 Audi loyalty for current Audi owners or household members, $750 audi rebate, and $1,500 AFS cash. So the dealer is discounting the car 11% without rebates.
