In VW's case, it's a dealer incentive, so it's reflected in a lower selling price (hopefully). So, not taxable.

I got this deal today.  2018 AWD SEL vw tiguan.   Msrp 33690. Sale price of car 30684.09.  675 aqu fee and ny sales tax if 1143.82 rolled in. Fisrt and dmv out of pocket.  Monthly payment if 369.  

With that selling price I get around 350 a month.  Seems like there is 1k elsewhere in the deal.  Thanks for your help.

I know sometimes manufacturers will publish lease deals on their site that specifically mention that they contribute a certain amount toward the lease. Toyota's RAV4 deal specifically says they will contribute lease cash. Other mfgs I see the same thing, but VW's Tiguan details don't mention lease contribution or lease cash at all.

So is this something that a dealership should generally be pretty forthcoming about if asked?

For VW, it's a dealer incentive. So, from their point of view, it's basically none of your business.

For Toyota, it's a consumer rebate that has to be disclosed on the paperwork.

If I look on Edmunds of a tiguan SEL awd with an msrp of 33610(some addons) it has a tmv of 30775.  So should I then deduct the 800 Lease Cash off that or is that already included?  I want to know how far I can negotiate down the price with the dealer.  Thanks!

Since it's a dealer incentive, it should already be inclusive of the TMV price.

Always shoot for a better deal than TMV
