I'm getting confused trying to use the Edmunds lease calculator. Can someone help please? Vehicle is 18 RDX tech with MSRP 40,695. RV 55%. MF .00039. Term 30 mo. Fees 649 dealer admin and 700 lease fee/dmv. Incentives 3,300. Sales tax Cary NC 7.25%. Purchase price 33,500 (not sure how realistic this is). I also have a 15 CRV EX-L @ end of lease with 6,700 equity (buyout 18,285 and worth 25,000 but 21,000 trade value) I'm coming out with numbers around 300 or slightly less...which seems low compared to what others are posting. I must be doing something wrong?

A few things to note:

1. I believe sales tax on a lease in NC is capped at 3%
2. The "purchase price" may not be valid for a lease - what you want is the "adjusted cap cost"
3. Have you gotten confirmation about the trade value, or is that just some on-line estimate? Take it to a CarMax for a buy bid to get a real world value.

And, I'm not 100% trusting of on-line calculators - even the one here at Edmunds. I've found it better to build your own:

I'm not too impressed, and here is why:

1) This vehicle has an Acura-to-dealer incentive of $3050. Looks like your "CAP cost" is just the selling price of the vehicle, not the full adjusted CAP. Given the incentive, that's no additional discount from the dealer.
2) Given the original low money factor, the savings from a prepaid lease is not that large. Just $879 total over the 36 months. I'm not sure I would prepay $15K, to save that much.

Your adjusted CAP cost should include the sales tax and $595 acquisition fee, that doesn't seem to be included in the $35,611.

Thank you. I was thinking the dealer should offer a discount as this is only 8% off MSRP for a car that’s about to have a huge model upgrade.

$3300 incentive on this model.
$6000 off is decent, but they took back $989 for a lot of dealer garbage. Tint might be worth something.

No mention of the $595 acquisition fee.
Is $1000 the total amount due at signing? Or is it $1000 + 1st payment, etc?
What state/tax rate?

Did they give you the adjusted CAP cost?

This was in Dallas tx tax 6.25%. I posted a copy of the deal.  Not sure the cap is ad. It was just 1000 down.  I did get a similar deal from another dealer 467 month. But it was 1st mo down and 35 remaining pmts  down

Here's the deal I signed a couple of weeks ago, on the exact model you're looking at. You should be able to get the cap cost down quite a bit further...

Without knowing any of the details behind the numbers, we can't give an opinion one way or the other.

And, other factors affect the final payment such as dealer doc fees, tax rates and structure, etc.

I beleive i know the dealer as its the same one I"m working with (just wanted to confirm) and wonder if they 'made the deal' you have posted here? Acura incentives all seem to be dealer incentives, this month. TMV should already include the incentives
