    Hello,

Can I have March numbers for South Florida 12k/36?

Recently went to a dealer yesterday quoting $850/mo with 56% Residual on a $54,000 X3 with only first month payment + inceptions, I found this payment to be astronomical. Any help would be appreciated!

Hello I was able to get this lease offer on a execute demo '18 X3 M40i. The dealer was not able to reduce the money factor (I asked for .00156), nor was the dealer able to reduce the asking price (58,500 or 10% off MSRP). Is this still a good deal?
Without the base MF, I can't endorse this as a good deal, even with the big discount from sticker. What state is this? How many miles are on the car? $800/mo for an X3 seems pricey, especially for a demo.

    Hello Michael,

I got confirmation that the demo X3 m40i has 3,500 miles.

I tried to negotiate 12.5% off MSRP, $0.25 per mile, and the money factor down to .00172 (midpoint between ask and buy rate), which got me to a payment of $706.40.

Finance Manager said this is impossible, and so I am giving up on this one. I guess I'm being too aggressive. I did some research, people are suggesting 20% off MSRP for demo units.

Is my offer unreasonable? Just want to figure out whether I should pursue this car anymore or not.

I don't think the M40 is *that* special. And, it's a demo unit - my co-host got 15% off, then incentives, on an X3 last summer (though, this was a 2017, so not apples to apples)

Dealer is trying to be greedy. Keep an eye on the inventory on-line - if it's still there towards the end of the month, give it another shot.

    The discount is good.
$589 doc fee plus $299 for "Kahu GPS" look like garbage fees.
So, they just took back $900 of your discount.

With the marked up money factor, I get $731/mo.+tax, which looks about right.
With the base money factor, the payment would be $697/mo.+tax, or about $746/mo.

Assuming the offer for your trade is fair, that's an average deal. (with the base MF of .00156)

After extensive negotiation with Dealer today: final price I got is : 716 per month , zero down , zero sing on , zero drive drive cost . Can I now think of this a better deal than an average ? can you please confirm @kyfdx .

That's pretty good. That's about $1000 less than the price I calculated using the base money factor.

So there is a local demo with less than 3K miles. MSRP $55945, listed at $51900. So about 7% off currently. What is an ideal price to get this down to before incentives, being a demo?

Also am I correct to assume it is based on individual dealerships whether they will honor/stack incentives? For example, this particular dealership is saying they have the $2K finance incentive + $1.5K loyalty incentive. But I personally also qualify for the corporate sales $2K incentive, but have heard some dealers may not honor it (partially or entirely).

Sorry, but no information on your corporate incentive.

At 3000 miles, the residual will be reduced by $750. So, that's 1.4% of MSRP that you have to make up. Given that, 7% off isn't any better of a deal than a brand new one. 10%-12% discount, minimum is what I would suggest.

Yea sorry if I didn't phrase my question properly about the incentive. I just meant it varies dealer by dealer what kind of incentives they will honor right? I think even the loyalty incentive and finance incentive can be different per dealer or they might simply choose to honor it only partially?

What has been the highest we have seen? 15%? There was someone claiming he got offered 20% off MSPR and even a 25% off MSRP...

No.. the lease credit and loyalty incentive are fixed by BMWFS.
    The dealer discount can vary.

When you see a number that is way, way off the curve, you might assume it isn't accurate.

From what I read in this forum, this does not appear to be any great deal. This is just outside of Boston. 56% residual value and no MF specified. Any recommendations/suggestions?

    .00156 MF and 56% residual for 36/15

The numbers on the right aren't really for a lease.
MA taxes the monthly payment, so the sales tax number is irrelevant.
Also, no mention of the $925 acquisition fee.

I'm estimating a little bit, as we don't have the adjusted CAP cost, but it looks like they are marking up the money factor the maximum to .00196.

    Michael/Lease SMEs,

Could you please advise on this deal on an X3 m40i brand new?
Money Factor: .00196 (dealer refused to lower)
    Term: 36/12k
    State: California

I ended up being able to negotiate on the MF to .00176 (midpoint of buy rate and asking), and was able to get my payments to $746 inc. tax of 9.75%, for a 36/10k. I was ok with the extra fees and the marked up MF, and the payments were in my budget.

Big THANK YOU to Michael and the other moderators. I've been following these boards for about 3 years, and learned a lot about leasing.

    GLTA!!

Holy crap you got 11% off a brand new M40. That's really impressive. How hard was it to get the dealer to agree to that? If you don't mind sharing.

Thank you kyfdx! This is what I received from the sales mgr. Still no mention of MF.

The quote we sent is a lease quote. The left side of the page will show accurate lease payments based on the total amount of money down, and this is based on a 56% residual, which is for 15k miles per year. The right side of the page, where it reads details is about 90% accurate. The savings is the discount off the car, the rebate is also additional savings off the car for leasing the car through BWM FS. The sales tax column unfortunately is inaccurate, and should not print on this sheet, however the software will not omit it. The sales tax is actually only paid on the percentage of the price of the car the customer is borrowing in the lease. The sales tax is based on the monthly payments, and it is included at 6.25% MA Sales tax in the monthly payments listed on the sheet. The Drive off column is combining the money down in the first column of the lease grid ($2,000) with the rebate of $1,500. The software sees the rebates as money down, when in all actuality the only money down is the amounts listed in the columns in the grid. These monies are total due @ signing, and includes all up-front fees, and first month’s payment in the lease.

Here is the lease very simply put:
    MSRP: $54,495.00

Sale Price after all discounts & incentives are: $50,320.00

    Residual: 56% @ 15k miles per year

    · 36 Month Lease
    · 15k miles per year
    · $2,000 total due @ signing
    · $767.22 per month (including sales tax) * Or you can put down the other amounts to lower the monthly payment

This is a great value for this car seeing as the 2018 X3 is a complete re-design for us, and is one of the hottest new SUV’s in it’s size on the market.
The sale price of $50,320.00 is very fair considering dealer invoice on this vehicle is $51,225.00.

Not too bad right? I went on a Wednesday, I think that was key. When I was ready to walk (originally quoted $1030, 2k at signing, 58% residual, .00196 MF), the finance manager actually came down to talk to me, and wanted to know if I was ready to make the deal the same day. He had offered 11% off (another dealer offered me 10%). The payments were still out of my budget so I ended up leaving ($790).

I did a lot of thinking, and was able to bump my payments up a little, and decided to with the 59% residual (36/10). I emailed the sales rep with a MF of .00176, and the finance manager agreed. Done deal!

Could NOT be happier with the car. I can easily say this is my dream car (realistic one lol).

Best review on the m40i's performance out there

Yeah.. he pretty much explained what I just noted, but without giving any of the actual corrected numbers, or the money factor. But, he did say it's a great deal! So, what else do you need? lol

Anyway... I'm pretty sure the money factor is marked up to .00196. That adds about $35/mo. to the payment.

If I add the $925 acquisition fee, and subtract the extra $450 additional in the upfront money, subtract the $500 rebate, I get an adjusted CAP of $55,363 and a monthly payment of $775/mo.
That's with a marked up money factor of .00176. I think that's where the $500 rebate comes from. They get that for marking up the money factor (which they passed on to you). It's pretty much a wash with the .00156 MF

For that kind of money, I'd be tempted to buy the vehicle. Especially since you pay the same sales tax, buy or lease in VA.
Not sure where they come up with $5000 rebate, though. I show $2000. But, they've marked up the financing by 1%, so maybe that gets them the extra rebate.

Just $106/mo. more to own the vehicle..

I qualify for militarty pricing and that is where the extra rebate is coming from if I but it. As for buy vs. lease, that is the time honored, question - which makes the most sense. The question to ask myself is whether I will keep the car past 3 years and pay for the cost of maintenance and an extended warranty (as you discussed before could both be $4k ore more) that i don't have to incur if I lease.

If I go with lease, is that a good bottom line price?

Best review on the m40i's performance out there
Congrats man. Really glad to see people getting what they want for a deal. I think that's the key... willing to walk. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I'm in northern VA and got the following from the local BMW dealer. What other information do I need to ask for to determine if I am getting a good price? I've asked for the money factor but don't have it yet. I am looking at the lease option. Thanks.

It's a decent deal, but that's a lot of money for a $57K MSRP vehicle.

The warranty is 4/50, so it will be the 5th year before warranty is up.

Based on what you're telling me and the very, very good price I got to buy the car, I am strongly reconsidering my decision to lease as I think I'll keep the car for 5-6 years. Just need to get the quote for the maintenance and warranty plans. Thanks.

I don't know the price to extend the warranty to 5/75, as our 2017 was CPO Elite and came with that warranty... But, extending/improving the maintenance from 3/36 to 5/75 has a list price of $2549.

Of course, if you only drive 12K/yr, that may not pay off.

The sale price of $50,320.00 is very fair considering dealer invoice on this vehicle is $51,225.00.
kyfdx, you've been so helpful thus far, can I get your thoughts on this response from the sales mgr? How does one back into the MF rate?

    Hello

Can you provide the residual and MF for a 2018 BMW X3 3.0 in Elmhurst, IL 60126 for 36months, 10,000. Just walked in and their rent charge came up to $5,000 without providing me the MF. Also, it is a demo. MSRP is 55,900 that they dropped to $51,900, but did not include any incentives like the $1,000 conquest cash from BMW. zero down 36months at 10k came out to $755. I told them to email me the MF. Their residual was 58%.

    Thanks

    .00156 MF and 59% residual
    Less $0.25/mile for existing mileage

Rent charge doesn't look far off.
But, $4000 off isn't much for a demo.

Thank you. The miles are 2,400. I was thinking 6K off for a demo, but now im not even sure that is enough. I would have expected the demo to go for around $600-$625.

Any ideas on MF and residuals for 2019s? I just placed an order for one, they have an MSRP $1650 dollars lower than the 18’s.

I had asked about this exact car previously... but yea this dealer is delusional about the demo... no way is it worth $4k off MSRP. Taking $4K off is just invoice pricing for a brand new.

Karate boi. Did you drive it?  The V4 turbo wasn’t doing it for me.  Looking at F pace V6,  stelvio or T6 Volvo xc 60.  What are you looking for?

I did. They tried to get me to floor it to show off it's "sports driving" (makes you question how many of those runs they did on its 2600 miles life). It's fast enough for me as a SUV... if you're looking for straight line power, you should consider the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, even the base is the fastest among the segment (0-60 is 5.4 sec compare to everything else at around 6 sec). Not to mention they are also aggressively discounting it.
