    carioca5 the MSRP is $53.450

    And the selling price is?
Michael : The selling price or the Net Cap Cost is $46,970
I get $548/mo with those prices, before taxes.

Has the tax rate changed in CT? If I use the tax rate of 6.35%, the total payment is $583/mo. Not a big difference to your payment quote, but something to look into.
Michael the tax rate for CT you have is correct at 6.35%. Can you send me your calculations for the $548 is possible. Thank you.

Michael that is very helpful, thank you. The difference is in CT the tax rate for vehicles above $50K is 7.75 so that brings the cost to $590 and also have to pay the tax on the $1500 rebate that brings the cost to $594.28. Overall does the deal look okay to you?
Yes, that is a healthy discount from sticker you are getting.

Can't really see any way to improve upon it.

And, thanks for the 411 on the CT tax situation - good information to have.
Ended up buying the X3 with above spec at $46,000 at almost 13.8% below MSRP.
    Congrats!

Hi - could you please help me with the below for a 2018 BMW X3 x30i trim?

    - MF and residual value in NJ for a 36 month / 12000 mile lease?
    - MF and residual value in NY if it is different?
    - Any incentives like Conquest incentive (if I am switching from an Audi)?
    - Does paying multiple security deposits upfront reduce MF?
    - Does BMW offer prepaid maintenance and if yes, does that increase the residual value?

Thanks for your help with this!

Is it ever worthwhile to do a 24 month lease? One strategy is to avoid buying new run flat tires (required by BMW on lease returns). I guess factoring in tire costs (over $1K installed I'd estimate) it might make sense? Thoughts?

The numbers for a 24 month lease from BMW are pretty decent - add 6% to the 36 month residuals.

You'd have to run the numbers for both terms to see which makes more sense, factoring in the cost of new tires before lease end.

Hi - I have an offer (in NJ) of $45,965 on a 2018 BMW X3 x30i with MSRP of $51,985. That represents a 11.5% discount and I wanted to check if you think there is room to push more.

    That's a great price.

Are you leasing? If so, make sure they aren't making it back in extra fees and a marked up money factor.

Acquisition fee is imposed by the bank.

There will likely be a doc fee of $400-600 - that's a lot, but typical for NJ.

    Registration costs, from the state.

Anything beyond that should be eyed with suspicion.

I am having some trouble with getting my monthly lease payments calculation to foot with what the dealer is giving me. I am looking at leasing (12k/36mos) a 2018 BMW X3 x30i with a MSRP of $51,985 and a potential selling price of $45,965 in NJ. I am putting no money down and the sales tax on lease payments is capitalized. The dealer is quoting me a monthly lease payment of $604. Nothing else other than the selling price and sales tax is being capitalized. My calculations using a money factor of 0.00156 and residual value of 56% seems to indicate a monthly lease payment of $629. Am I doing something wrong - is the $604 monthly payment that the dealer is quoting the correct number? Thanks for your help with this.

I put down a deposit for the following deal on the 2018 X3 in NJ. it was closing time so he said he will provide the breakdown at time of delivery but said if you are satisfied with the overall price you should hold the car.
    MSRP - 50585
Out of pocket at time of delivery - 3000
He added two rebates - loyalty (1500) and a 1000$ voucher that i had from bmw for rebate
    Monthly payment 587 (x23 months)
Plus he will pay off 2 payments worth 1000$ in total for my current BMW.

In all i'm paying 16501 over a period of 24 months with 10k miles per year. The other lowest offer i had got from another dealer was 699/month and 2500 out of pocket (but at that time i did not have the 1000$ rebate offer and i don't think i had told him about my existing BMW)

I tried various combinations on the lease calculator websites but most of them take me to around 17k for 2 yrs all inclusive. Does anything look shady in the deal without knowing other parameters like MF or cap cost as residual would be common at most places and taxes are known upfront.

The only other thing mentioned in the dealer form given to me was that he had put down 5500 as out of pocket out of which he was covering 2500 in rebates, leaving 3k for me. Document fees mentioned was 499. He quoted me 619/month, then readily made it 600 and when i asked to make it 16.5k total, he readily agreed without hesitation (the last time i went to him i had to bargin for almost 30 mins)

Without a selling price or adjusted CAP cost, we really have no calculations to confirm.

    Hi,
I am new to this forum. I would highly appreciate if you can share the money factor and residual value for a 36/10 and 36/12 in San Francisco, California.

I have my eyes set on a particular one listed at $48,695 MSRP and would really love to find out what would be a good discount in terms of percentage off MSRP or lease monthly payment/downpayment.

    Many thanks and kind regards

Thanks, Michaell. I really appreciate the quick response.

Let's say I get 7% off sticker, bringing it to $45286 selling price:
    - Assuming no other incentives for now
    - .00156 MF and 59% for 36/10
    - Assuming $589 document fee, $925 acquisition fee
    - CA tax
    - would prefer to have drive-off/down payment be as low as possible

What range of down payment and monthly lease payment should I be targeting or looking for? Somewhere around $450-$500 pre tax?

Thanks so much again I really appreciate your help.

CA caps the doc fee at $80.

If you add the $925 acquisition fee to the selling price, I get a payment of $602/mo plus tax. DMV costs and other fees paid up front, along with the first payment.

Not sure you'll see anything close to $500/mo on the X3.

Thanks again! So basically to bring the monthly to around $500, the discount towards sticker price would have to be something around 12-15% and/or with other incentives. Is this the correct understanding?

    Thanks!

Thanks again! So basically to bring the monthly to around $500, the discount towards sticker price would have to be something around 12-15% and/or with other incentives. Is this the correct understanding? Thanks
Why don’t you order a 2019? They are $1650 less than the 18’s. I was able to get  $500/month with taxes included. MSRP of $47,095. I am putting $1.5k down, and also get $2.5k in loyalty, & x2 test drive event incentives.

That sounds like a great deal. I have been looking at existing inventory since I will be needing a car within a month or so.

    Correct.

Not sure you can get that on a model as popular as the X3.
I am a little bit confused. I just went through all 18 pages of this thread and I came up with the $500/mo pre tax because of most of the earlier posts. For example, a couple of months ago, on a $53,450 MSRP / $46,970 Net Cap Cost, you mentioned it would be ~$548/mo, with money factor being .004 lower back then.

There are more examples where the selling price was around $45,000-$50,000 but the calculated monthly payment was around $500-$550. However your previous calculation showed it would be $602/mo for $45,286 selling price. Is this mainly because California charges a lot more fees or something? or is this because the previous estimations have a lot of incentives after the selling prices?

Thanks again I really appreciate the help.

I can only use the numbers given to me. That screen shot shows a much, much bigger discount - was this a demo unit?

Here is the screen shot, using the latest numbers (cap cost is the sell price plus $925 acquisition fee)

Based on your spreadsheet as well as instructions from this link:

    https://www.edmunds.com/car-leasing/calculate-your-own-lease-payment.html

I did a spreadsheet on my own and would really appreciate it if you could quickly check if there's any obvious errors. I am meeting the salesperson in person tomorrow and it would definitely be very helpful to have this knowledge before going in. I used some sample inputs below (same numbers as used in your example).

    A few points to note:

    - Not sure what fees there are besides acquisition fee. Using $925 here for now.
    - This is not counting DMV fees (license and registration). I am assuming these fees will be up front together with first monthly payment.

    Thanks so much again!

    The calculations look good.

You'll have DMV fees, but I'd pay those upfront.

I'm just a penny off of that quote.

Decent discount from sticker, and the base MF.

Not sure how you can do any better.
