Hello, I just signed a lease deal on 2018 X3. I didn't even ask for Money factor  . Here is what my deal looks like.

    Model: 2018 X3 30i
    MSRP: 53,225 includes Destination charges
Packages: Premium, Parking Assistance, Driving Assistance, harman kardon speakers, Phytonic Blue (exerior)
    Discount price: $47,875

    Lease: $697/month for 15K/year, 0 Down.

    Thanks in advance.

    P.S. - First time poster.

I get $620/mo plus tax, using .00152 as the MF.
The sales tax in Indiana is 7% so that's $43/month? I have it for For 15K.. So basically I am paying $35 more ?
    Looks that way....
Thanks. Based on your experience, Is it too much or something normal?
It is normal for the dealer to mark up the MF; if they can get away with doing something to put more money in their pocket, they will.

We simply try to level the playing field for the consumer. But, that consumer has to reach out to us before signing the contract. Not much we can do after the fact.

Think of this as a learning experience. When the current lease is up in 3 years, come back to us and we can help you with your next automotive transaction.
Great. I will remember that. Thanks Michaell.

No dealers are willing to budge on money factor. Lowest I can haggle is 0.00192. How does anyone get anything lower? Or is it an unachievable rate?

Lots of folks are able to get the .00152 base MF - you may have to expand your search area. Only takes one dealer to meet your numbers.

Looking at leasing a 2018 bmw x3 for 36/10. This would be my first time leasing, wondering if it makes sense to trade in my car , $10-11k, thus reducing the monthly leasing amount. With $2500 down and msrp of $51495 and negotiated price of $48k, looking at estimated payment of $608. With $10k down, looking at $370. Or should I sell my car and take the money and apply it to the lease payments? The money would sit in the bank not really earning any interest of value.

    What should I do?

    thanks

We do not recommend using trade equity to buy down the monthly payment.

If the car is stolen or totaled, you would lose that up front money.

Sell the car, or trade it in to the dealer and have them cut you a check, then keep that money to use to help with the higher payment each month.

How does this deal look for a 2018 X3 model?
    MSRP $52,045
Dealer discount and rebates - $5,759
    Sales price - $46286
    MF - 0.00152
    RV 0.59% (36 months / 10k miles).
    Sales tax $3,634 (CA)
    Registration documentation fee - $758

The dealer told me that BMW doesn't offer MF reduction based on MSD anymore, is this true?

Also, what would be my monthly payment based on these numbers with $0 down?

First, sales tax on a lease in CA is on the monthly payment; the tax amount shown is for information purposes only.

Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost - this will be the number that is used to calculate the lease payment.

MSD program was suspended about almost a year ago.

Do you have the breakdown of the discount and the rebate? We suggest you target 7% off MSRP, before incentives.

    MSRP - 52,045
    Dealer quoted discount - $5,259
    Corporate rebate - $500

I will check for adjusted capitalized cost. Anything else to check? Acquisition fee, Disposition fee, etc.? This is my first time leasing a car, so I may not be fully aware of all the fees. Appreciate your help.

Was curious about how to apply any incentives, I'm looking at an x3 msrp $51495, 7% off is 47890.http://www.bmwgroupfleet.com/models/x3

Apparently, I can get corporate discount of $500 off. Do I offer $47890 and hope they say yes then have them apply the corporate discount?
based on the information in that screenshot, I am not sure how to work out the numbers
    Does the below seem correct?

Yes, negotiate your best price, the subtract any incentives.

I agree with the approach in your worksheet.

this is what I got back from the dealer tonight. They did try to give me a higher MF value which I called them out on and they changed it to .00152.

using the above, I was able to recreate the calculation in excel

However the negotiated price is not shown, should I try to shoot for more? I can try and play their game and ask for a cap cost of $47500 with $3500 drive off

Looks like that price is the same as the adjusted CAP cost. (assuming 10% sales tax)
That means the $2500 should all be accounted for by first payment, $925 acquisition fee, DMV/dealer fees. Looks like about $500 too much, from here.
Also, money factor is marked up from .00152 base. That adds about $9/mo. to the payment.

    RV - 59%
    MF - 0.00152

What is the wrong element in this offer? The dealer isn't ready to give any other details and is saying he can't apply the loyalty bonus on top of corporate discount. overall cost works out to be around 20k for a 24 month deal, which doesn't feel right

9.5% off sticker is a nice discount, but the MF is still bumped up a tiny bit to offset that.

Remind us what state this is?

And, the full breakdown of the $2500 due at signing?

    Here are more details -

    MSRP - 52,045
    Dealer discount - 5,259
    Corporate rebate - 500
    RV - 59%
    MF - 0.00152
Total fees (acquisition, doc, licence, registration, etc.) - 1689
    Tax rate - 7.75%

The dealer is quoting monthly payment of $666.98 with 0 down. And 36 such payments.

According to my calculations (https://www.edmunds.com/car-leasing/calculate-your-own-lease-payment.html), I am getting monthly payment of $647, and 36 such payments.

Can someone please help check what should be the correct payment?

    Thanks.
If I add the fees to the discounted price, I also get $647/mo.

Ask the dealer what cap cost they are using for their payment quote, and what's been added to it from the number you and I are using ($47,975)

What is the wrong element in this offer? The dealer isn't ready to give any other details and is saying he can't apply the loyalty bonus on top of corporate discount. overall cost works out to be around 20k for a 24 month deal, which doesn't feel right

Isn't ready? Are they afraid that you will shop their numbers?

Almost $900/mo for an X3 is way too much.

    .00152 and 59% for 36/10; 65% for 24/10

    With your prices, I get $645/mo for 36/10, and $780/mo for 24/10

Something seems very off about that quote.

From the breakdown the dealer provided me, it looks like he is adding the first month's payment $666.98 to the capitalized cost, which brings the cap. cost to $48648. Is this correct? If so, there should be only 35 such payments. Which I had specifically asked the dealer, but they said that it will be 36 payments. Am I missing something?

If this is structured as a "sign and drive" deal (absolutely $0 out of pocket), then the first payment is added to the cap cost, with 35 payments remaining.

If it is a 36 payment program, then the first payment is due at signing.

The other thing he told me was that he won't be able to include loyalty on top of the corporate offer. Is that correct? I also have a coupon from BMW for 1000$. Against what part of the lease can i use the loyalty bonus and coupon for? Can it be used as part of down payment or for cap cost or for something else?

The restrictions for the corporate offer got stricter the last few months, so the dealer may be correct. I'd suggest you call a second dealer to confirm.

How did you obtain the $1000 coupon? Is there any language on it that tells you how it can or cannot be used?

got the coupon from the Auto show ride and drive event. It says "$1,000* off the purchase or lease price of a new BMW". The discount being offered is around 8.9% when the average without any corporate offer is around 7.3%

9% is a good discount, for a BMW.

And, the extra $1000 is nice to have, as well.

What is the adjusted cap cost? If $0 drive off then you have to add the acquisition fee and DMV costs to the selling price.
