Hi - just curious when if you think the 2018 Explorer's will be a better lease option than a 2017 any time before the end of this year?

I'm in CT and am looking at 51% residual, 1.5% MF, and $5k rebate for a 2017 Explorer XLT AWD with 10.5k miles/36 months as of today.

At what point to the higher residuals outweigh the extra cash back from Ford? Is there a simple formula that says something like 1% residual = $1k off the price?

At the moment, the numbers are better on the 2017's so that the dealers can clear out the old inventory. Not expecting the residuals to magically improve on the 2018's when the '17's are gone, but I suppose anything is possible.

1% of a $50K truck is only $500 difference in the residual value; would take a lot to make up for that much lease cash.

At the moment, the November numbers are still valid for December.

Ford could release new information at any time, however.

I don't have the exact region for Chicago. It's possible that the dealer is correct.

The selling price is 42,589 minus 2,250 in rebates. Residual is 53 percent for 39 months  @ 1.25 apr. taxes and fees and first month comes to 2540. 
The monthly was $469 for a 39/10.5.

I get $446/mo with those numbers, if I use $40,339 as the cap cost.

Confirm that number with the dealer.
