Would it be cheaper to lease the vehicle next month or won't change? My current lease ends next month around 9/24 so not sure what to do.

No predictions as to what may (or may not change) after the program expires on 9/4.

We always suggest to lease when you need to.

    Buying or leasing?

If leasing, what lease term and how many miles per year?

If buying, there is a very active prices paid thread for the Accord, here:

    Hello All,

Looks like current current Honda promotions are set to expire 9/4.
I was checking the local inventory for the Accord EX and it appears that there are quite few cars available.
Question is, what are the chances of getting a better deal on the 2018 models after 9/4
If I am able to take advantage of lower prices after 9/4, that would be great.
Looking for advice(buy now or wait) / any info on trends for the outgoing models etc..
  • fastdjtfastdjt Member Posts: 35
Nobody has a crystal ball to predict the future so your guess is just as good as anybody else. It's a good guess the MF and RV will drop but how much that will adjust payments is likely to be minimal. With inventory at current levels, they may expand incentives but don't hold your breathe.

It's likely that residuals will drop, as they haven't changed for two months.
It's also likely that money factors and incentives may adjust to make up for that.
But, no one knows if the deals will actually be better.

Take a drive by the dealer, to make sure all of those units are actually in inventory.

Bit of an odd question. The company I work for has a deal with a local Honda dealership that allows me to pay dealer invoice on new vehicles. Is the dealer invoice the same as the invoice price found on edmunds TMV? It would be an EX with 10k/36 located in NY. Invoice on edmunds shows 26,025 would dealer invoice be lower?

Invoice is whatever the dealer wants it to be - I'm sure if you looked at multiple websites, you might get different numbers for that price.

If you go over to the Accord Prices Paid thread, you'll find that lots of folks are paying under invoice.

Great discussion. I have some questions:
    1. I have seen some of the moderators mention that there is a $1000 lease incentive available on EX-L models and 1.5T Touring model. I would really appreciate if someone can explain this incentive and how it reduces the lease amount?

    2. Moderators have mentioned that 0.00092 MF is the available on Accord models? Do dealers negotiate this number?

    3. Moderators have mentioned RVs for different models ranging from 52% - ~60%? Are these fixed or do dealers allow negotiating these numbers?

    4. Is Dealer fees negotiable?

    Thanks in advance.

    1) 1.5 EXL w/NAV or 1.5 Touring for the $1000 incentive. Honda-to-dealer incentive. It should help you negotiate a lower selling price, as it reduces the dealer's cost.

    2) .00092 is the base money factor. There is no going under that.

    3) Dealer fees are technically negotiable. In practice, it's better to find out the fees before negotiating your deal. Then, adjust your target price downward to make up for them.

Thanks kyfdx. Does that mean, the negotiation points even for leasing the accord are mainly the price (how low can we get from Invoice price) and the dealer fees? Sorry for the naive questions, but this is my first time looking into leasing a car.

Secondly, is this a reliable link to determine the invoice price of the different accord trims: https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/2018-Honda-Accord-Price-c27103

Lastly, I have seen recommendations of not making any downpayment since it will not be recoverable incase the car get totalled or is stolen. So if I go that route, is it fair that I will be paying more interest given that my monthly payment is bigger. Basically just confirming that there is a cost of avoiding the risk of getting the car stolen or totalled?

    1. Yes, the price and fees are the only negotiating points for most Honda leases
    2. Can't speak to the reliability of 3rd party web sites; there is an active Accord prices paid thread here, with experts and real world experience
    3. If you add the fees and such into the payment, you will be paying interest on it, but with the MF at a relatively low level, it won't be much extra. Certainly not more than the up front money that could be lost!

I wouldn't put so much down on the lease - the $3000 alone adds $85/mo to the payment.

But, the lease program on the Accord is just average, at best. Might be the best you can do.
