After monitoring and email inquires since last October I am hoping my test drive tomorrow will turn into my new car. They have in stock my preferred touring (crystal black with ivory). It is in the Philly area and the deal is MSRP 34690, discount is 3145 to31545 and if I finance I get the 1000 flex cash. Sales tax will depend on my trade in value, 2012 accord EXL and if I accept the deal. I am hoping for 9 - 10 k. Other fees are 140, doc, 85 title/lien, 211 for 4 year advance registration, wheel locks are extra. Talking to other dealers seems like they will try to add pure profit fees such as internet fees or advertising fees but I know better. I feel like I have leverage in that most area dealers have 140 to 150 accords in stock, more than all other models combined. The technology will be a challenge at my advanced age and the much smaller gas tank will take some getting used to.. If this falls thru I am prepared to wait . These thing are not made of gold

I went to the above dealer today, got in a good test drive and I love the car. The price was what they offered 31545 and 1000 off if financed. The fees are not too out of line and the stumbling block was my trade in as expected. They offered 6500 and then would not go any more than 7200 so I stopped by CarMax on the way home for an appraisal and they offered me 8500 cash for my car good for 7 days. Yesterday I checked another dealer a bit further out and they quoted me 30369 which includes the 1000 flexcash. I was shocked to learn that last week Honda changed their deal and are giving it for finance, lease or CASH deals so I won't have to finance. I am going to dealer #2 on Monday morning with my CarMax report. Thanks to the great people in here that told me about using CarMax for a free appraisal
Is the second quote for a 2018 Touring? 1.5 or 2.0T?
It is for the touring 1.5

Were you hoping to get more money off the sale price or a better trade-in value for your car? I'm just curious.

Suggestion.... while your waiting for pricing to come down on 18 Accords take advantage of the Time factor. List your vehicle on Auto-Trader etc.... for 11/ 12k take the highest offer in the next few months then secure the best Accord deal.

I'm thinking 2k below plus flex would make for a good 18 Accord deal . In MA / MD. Late summer into fall would be a nice pickup if you decide Accord.

Without the 1k flex cash... dealers $300/ 400 doc fee takes back on any deal so maybe getting a lower sale price would be feasible at that time. .

I like the 18 Accord, if I was in the market and in no rush to buy , knowing I'm keeping vehicles over 7 years my above scenario would be a perfect game plan .

Got you. Did they even try to match your $8500 trade value from Carmax? Your best bet might be to find a dealer who will give you a great price on the Accord and come close to your trade in value numbers. If you are in no rush to buy, Memorial day weekend might be a good time to buy (depending on the deals and finance offers).

    Good luck.

@brian125 I agree with everything you have said. Dealers will eventually come down in pricing, since it appears the Accord is not flying off dealer lots.

Glad to see folks on this thread doing research and asking questions. That's how you are going to get a great deal. One more big piece of advice: Do not get attached to a car and if the deal is bad, you are free to walk out of the dealership. Trust me, I have done that quite a few times.

  • I am interested in the Accord Sport 1.5T Manual. Cash deal. Of course dealer stock for manuals is very slim - do you think this will make it harder to strike a deal at invoice?

Supply and demand are pricing factors . Advantage dealers . Here is how you answer your own price question?

Send out 15 to 20 dealer emails requesting your make and model with a possible sale if they meet your invoice target price. If you want to save another $1000 dollars there's a Honda finance incentive if credit is good. Check If NJ dealers have the 1k flex cash offering to finance putting only 7 to 10k down then paying off your 1st months bill would save u $$$.

NJ dealers have a doc fee of $300 plus so maybe you might want to ask each dealer in your phone calls / emails that 300 below invoice gets your business today.

    Heads up warning:
So I had brought the 2.0 sport back in late December, I did had an incident with the apple play not working when plugging in my iPhone when it was working 5 minutes before. After researching thru a couple of other Honda forums, I found the fix was to reset the center console thru the settings and lose all of your settings.

My buddy who also brought a 2.0 touring at around the same time period who also have driven his vehicle a lot more than I have, said his center console been crashing a lot and he have went into the dealership twice for them to look at.

Just wanted to bring this up for those who are planning to buy.
The car is still an excellent drive, and I am still very happy with its performance and drivability.

true OTD price includes taxes and fees. If 21.9k was the total price, that is a great deal.

yaa that couldnt be OTD price ... other wise it would be 20 % off MSRP

I have also learned not to accept alot of what dealers say as accurate.

I know what “out the door” is supposed to mean and insist the dealer provide that info if that is what I am looking for.

Vehicle shoppers must control the process - not allow the dealer to do so.

I know - I am preaching to the choir.

Listing the OTD price does not help others who might be looking to purchase a similar vehicle. I usually recommend that folks share the following info:
    • Model and Trim (You stated a 2018 Accord LX)
    • MSRP of the car (You stated $24,460)
    • Sale price of the car
    • Incentives such as flex cash
    • Price of accessories (if applicable)
    • Dealer doc fees

i assume the msrp is 31200; sell price of 27.8k (doc fee is part of sell price) is more than 10% off (before flex cash). That is quite good; hope you like black or gray! did you buy it yet?

Unless there is a promotional rate, 2.89% looks pretty good for 60 months. Not sure you can beat that by much.

Just having a hard time paying that rate when the Toyota Camry has 0.9% for 60 months.

But, that's a promotional rate... They could just as easily give you a $1200 rebate and keep the financing at 2.9%.
The Honda dealer can get you 0.9% APR, too.... if you let them raise the price by $1500.

It's apples to oranges, unless you'd rather have a Camry, or you don't care which one you get.

Have you tried checking rates offered by some credit unions? If you are not in a rush to buy now, you can wait a few months and see if Honda offers a promo finance rate. However, you might end up losing out on a good deal. My $0.02.

My point is... you are paying market rate for your financing, one way or the other. Either in lost incentives or a higher rate. 2.89% is a good rate. If you negotiated a fair price for the car, then there really is no issue.

    Cold feet, maybe?

Anyone bought a 2.0T Touring in the Northeast lately? If yes, could you list your sale price (and MSRP), and whether you received any flex cash?

Hello, looking for the current MF and residual on a Sport 1.5t Auto. 36/12 and zip 25704. I’m going to the dealer tomorrow, so are there any current deals or incentives? Also, what are the current rates and deals for financing?  Thanks!

    Hello,

A dealer just offer me a Touring 1.5T for $30,995 before TTL in OC CA and also offer "$1300 Offer from Honda" additionally. Pretty sure it's the offer above so yeah maybe $1000 additionally. I pay cash so don't know if I'm qualified or not

Not sure if this is a good price or I have to request an OTD quote before judging.

Also I just graduate last year so I may qualified for the $500 rebate, what should I tell the dealer after our negotiation is done? Appreciate any advice, my first time buying a car.

One more question is I tried to buy some accessories for my car, such as Sport Black Front Grille, Decklid Spoiler and Underbody Spoiler. Should I negotiate the car first before telling them I will buy those or negotiate with those in the package?

MSRP for this car (from honda.com) is $34,690. Invoice price is $31,794. So your deal is only $799 below invoice before any incentives. Here is some advice:
    1. Reach out to more dealers to compare offers.
    2. Did this dealer mention flex cash? If not, ask about it.
    3. The $1300 flexcash is for leasing. $1000 flexcash is for financing through Honda.
    4. If you plan to pay cash you may want to finance the lowest amount possible to get the $1000, and then pay it off in a few months.
    5. If you are recent grad, you do get an additional $500 from Honda. Here is more info here.
    6. I will aim for at least $1500 below invoice at the end of the month before any incentives.
    7. Negotiate the price of the car before any accessories. Once you are happy with the sale price, then you can negotiate the price of of all accessories you want.
    8. You can request OTD price, but it is best to request that the dealer list out list out all fees such as dealer doc fees and registrations fees.
Good luck and feel free to post back.

Thank you so much for your advices

I've emailing several dealers so far and every dealer seem doing the same thing with this price. Either they offer $30k with FlexCash or $31k without.

$1500 below invoice is a great price to start. Maybe I can pressure them a little bit and tell them if they can match the offer.

One tactic you could use when emailing dealers is to tell them you will buy today from the dealership that offers you the lowest price and has flexcash.

Yeah I used this tactic. Not much dealers budged. The lowest now I have is $29,627 with OTD $32, 589. He did say either cash or finance is fine. Not sure if I want to go ahead and pull the trigger or not

That price seems great, over 14 % below MSRP as long as it includes destination. I'm looking at a touring also and would accept it in a heartbeat here in nj. Just make sure you research the taxes and all fees included to see if they are not out of line with the norms. I see your in Ca and you get raped on sales tax but your avg dmv is about 300 and doc is around 80 which are low. Hope you do great with your 1st new ride !
