Why does the Prestige (higher MSRP, fully loaded) have a 4% lower residual than the mid-tier Premium Plus option? How does this make sense for the manufacturer? Do all the bells and whistles really depreciate that much faster? or some other reason?

Here one can basically choose to add a few extras on the premium plus at a significant discount.

That's how Audi sets it up.

Yes, if you can option up a P+ to be roughly equivalent to a Prestige, it will lease much better.

4% of $70,000 MSRP (hypothetically) is $2800, or $75-80/mo difference on the payments.

Yes, I've switched the 2019 now. The 2018 model had some scratches and chips which were previously unknown. Plus the 2019 has more features standardized.

There is some money left over for cap cost. They are indicating around $400-500. I am getting a price of $687 at the moment.

If there is a cap reduction, then our calculated payment will go down.

Likely a MF bump, by the dealer.

Ask them what MF and CAP cost they are using.

You still don't know what's paid for upfront, and what's in the CAP cost. Rounded amounts upfront (like $5000), never break even. Either it's not enough to pay upfront charges and something is rolled into the CAP cost, or it's more than enough (like your previous 2018 quotes), and there is some left over for CAP reduction.
