Hi,

New to the forum and leasing in general. Are these residual and MF rates known and accepted as the baseline to work with? Just trying to gauge how easy/difficult it will be to negotiate these rates with the salesperson.

I was quoted 54% residual and .00126 today for a 2021 X5 xDrive 40i - 36 months, 12k miles. Can I negotiate for better rates @ 55% residual and .00086 MF for this car (zip code 92835)?

The residual is fixed by BMWFS. 54% is correct for 36/12

The base MF is .00086. Dealers are permitted to mark up the rate by .00040.
I can't tell you how difficult your negotiations might be with the dealer.

As @kyfdx said, residual is a set value and cannot be negotiated.

In terms of MF, there are a few line items a dealership makes money off of: markup on the money factor, final sale price of the car, additional "accessories" that you may purchase, your trade in (if you have any). Any single one of these could be negotiated and they can agree to anything that might please you individually... as long as they are making money some place else. I think best way to look at any deal is as a package. In one deal they are marking up MF but giving you 13% off MSRP + all rebates... you are in no better case when they give you the base MF but 9%off MSRP +all rebates.

I am leasing a new BMW X5 2021. Will the lease price cover annual required maintenance or would I have to pay separately for that? Wondering whether I need to purchase a maintenance package. I did that for my previous car, Mercedes C300

Basic required maintenance is included for 3 yr, 36K miles.

Wear items (brakes, wipers, etc) are not covered.

Right now I am not having much luck getting my local south OC California dealers to move past a few percent off MSRP. Referrals for good dealers/agents also appreciated!

I wish I could help you. In the end of December I tired to lease the X5 s 40i without success. No real discounts except $500 lease cash, but with dealer fee in Florida this lease cash did nothing. For a mid $60,000 SUV, I could not pay close to $900 a month with about $2500 down. May want to consider another brand. The audi Q7 deal I was working on was okay, but still too high. The MB GLE I was looking at was also ridiculous.

I have communicated a few folks via PM on their deals. The issue is local (dealer) climate is quite different in CA compared to East Coast where I am. There was at least one person who ended up ordering from the dealership that I purchased my car from and ship the car to SoCal.

I purchased the "UltimateCare+" on my X6 (the $700 package), and ended up using it for my front brakes. Had I not needed the brakes, it would have been $600 for windshield vipers.

As a side note, I accidentally found out that the price of the UltimateCare is open to negotiation. Not sure what the flexibility is but I got a $100 off from the list price.

Then, ask for a screen shot of the dealer lease worksheet, as the numbers don't add up; it's possible the adjusted cap cost is higher than the selling price you've shared.
